Main Event for the UFC Lightweight Championship BJ Penn vs Joe Stevenson Co-Main Event Fabricio Werdum vs Gabriel Gonzaga Undercard Marcus Davis vs Jess Liaudin Wilson Gouveia vs Jason Lambert Kendall Grove vs Jorge Rivera Prelims Sam Stout vs Per Eklund Colin Robinson vs Antoni Hardonk Paul Davis vs Paul Taylor James Lee vs Alessio Sakara Now, this isn't UFC 78 bad but it's still getting shit-talked around most forums. At least with Sherk getting stripped of the belt they have a legit main event instead of more interim bullshit. The main card might surprise people though I think. Marcus Davis is on the verge of breaking into the top ten and his last fight against Paul Taylor was great fun to watch. Werdum/Gonzaga I was solid stuff and with Gabriel having improved by leaps and bounds since then we might see a very different result. Gouveia/Lambert will elevate somebody in a crowded 205 lb. division and I've yet to see a boring Kendall Grove fight. Plus with Stout hopefully notching himself a spot on the Montreal card with a win I'll be watching in the hopes that fight gets shown on the live portion of the event.

Wait until summer, especially as the AustralAsia building is closed and under construction until around April for roof repairs. Also, go on a weekday during the summer as weekends are fucking mobbed.

I own..... - UFC camo t-shirt - UFC vintage t-shirt with the SEG logo - Chute Boxe t-shirt - Fedor "Last Emporer" t-shirt - "Canadian Fighter" t-shirt Really want to get the power-blue Affliction t-shirt GSP was rocking after he raped Hughes but I really don't want to pay that much.
-
There are some nice Affliction shirts out there but I can't justify the price tag on them. Plus they seem kinda pretentious in the "Yeah, I watch MMA" kinda attitude they project. *Puts on Fedor t-shirt*

Personally haven't seen it but every review I read of it is "Eklund attempts takedown, fails. Stout lands combos. Repeat for three rounds."
-
It's not the fucking itself, more so that it's being done by animals you don't see on a regular basis. Like mandrils. I have no clue the next time I'm gonna see two of those things gettin' it on.

Have you ever been to the Monteray Bay Aquarium? That place is sweet.

I was pretty pissed because the elephants were off display and the bears were hibernating though I really should have figured that one out. The Toronto Zoo needs a better ape/monkey selection. No chimps is my biggest gripe.

UFC 82: Pride of A Champion

Henderson saying the clinch is where he'll beat Silva is one of the ballsier MMA statements in a while. That's akin to saying "I'll be in Fedor's guard, give him my arm and he wouldn't tap me." Hendo's wrestling and strength are certainly good enough to take Anderson down and he's got a great chin so I don't think he'll be scared to get in close. If Hendo wins I won't mind but Anderson is pretty much the King of the MMA World right now so I really don't want to see him lose to anybody, even somebody I like. -

That show was fucking awesome, as good as anything they've put on since UFC 74. Nothing sucked. Three "YOU GOT KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT" moments to start us off, sweet battle of the Paul's, Gonzaga/Werdum was kinda sad to watch but not a bad fight and seeing Joe play in survival mode against BJ was great. Sooooooo much blood. Oh, and STOUT~! Don't care if it wasn't a good fight. STOUT!!~ Punch that ticket to Montreal!

Herman got tapped by MacDonald, allowed Scott Smith of all people to try and get a kneebar on him and was saved by the bell against Doerkson. No reason Maia can't take this but I also like Ed so if he wins it's cool. -
Ultimate Fight Night 12
Lord of The Curry replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Well it's a moot point as Pellegrino should've never been considered a contender in the first place. -
Well, here it is. Obviously the exception is M1, K1 and UFC on the 29th which of course can be filled in after. This is a thread meant for both opinions and discussion. If you're bringing two-word sentences, please fuck right off. DEE-SKUSH-ON. Fight of The Year Fighter of the Year Show of The Year KO of The Year Submission of The Year BTW, this is all stuff we can build on. Feel free to add your own category but it'd better be worth our time. Fight of The Year: Fuck, this is close mainly because Tyson Griffin and Roger Huerta made a decision to completely steal the show from every other UFC fighter in 2007 but I'm going with Tyson Griffin vs Frankie Edgar from UFC 67. Going into the fight we knew that Griffin had a big rep going for him but within 2 minutes of that fight you knew that Frankie Edgar gave two shits about Tyson's reputation and just wanted to win. For every move in this fight there was a counter. For every counter, a counter-counter. Griffin takes Edgar down, Frankie reverses it. Edgar shows great boxing standing, Tyson lands a huge uppercut. Mad takedowns, scrambles and everything else that makes MMA awesome. Oh, and one of the craziest endings to a fight in a long, long time. Honorable mentions: Tyson Griffin vs Clay Guida, UFC 72, Clay Guida vs Roger Huerta, Ultimate Finale Live. Fighter of The Year: Again, a tough category but I'm gonna be a bitch and award a tie to Quinton Jackson and Anderson Silva mainly because both guys mirror each other in terms of the year they've each had. Both started it off at UFC 67 and looked less-then-perfect against mid-level opponents but managed to come back strong in the second and finish it off. Then in their second fight both were looked at as the underdog with Silva against Marquardt and Jackson against Liddell. Again, both shock us all with completely and utterly destructive performances that leaves no doubt in anyones mind that these guys are at the top of the heap in MMA for their respective divisions. The third fight is a mixed bag as we all knew that Henderson would be a tough test for Rampage but he still managed to show heart and toughness on the ground and well......Silva running through Franklin like a hot knife through butter was beautiful to watch. Show of The Year: UFC 74 comes to mind right off the bat. Huerta/Crane was crazy good, GSP taking out Koscheck, Cote pulling out the upset and Randy being Randy is a very solid show. Oddly enough the UFC free cards on Spike make a very good argument with the Stout/Fisher UFN and Guida/Huerta Ultimate Finale Live card being very fun but I'm going with PRIDE: The Second Coming in Vegas which had basically everything you could want in a card. Awesome 155 fights with Danzig/Sakurai and Ireland/Hansen, the African Assassin making his name known against 205 Noguiera, Diaz/Gomi putting on a FOTYC, Shogun going Superman on Overeem and a great M.E with Hendo/Silva and crazy-ass finish. Honorable Mentions: UFC 74, Stout vs Fisher UFN KO of The Year: There have been quite a few to choose from in UFC alone with Gonzaga/Mirko and Salmon/Rashad but I'm going to go with Marios Zromskis vs Ross Mason from Cage Rage. If there were ever a flying knee that could challenge the greatness that is Anderson Silva vs Carlos Newton this one would be it. The fact that it was a good fight before the finish is the cherry on top. Marios actually had a good 2007 with three solid fights and wins under his belt. Honorable mention: The above-mentioned fights. High-kicks in 2007, ya heard? Submission of the Year: Chris Lytle vs Jason Gilliam from UFC 73 where Lytle makes the decision to go rapist on Gilliams head and arms locking in a "Good Jesus that looks painful" topside triangle choke/americana combo. Honorable mentions: Nick Diaz's gogoplata on Gomi at the PRIDE show in February, Joe Lauzon's rear naked choke on Jason Reinhardt at UFC 78. Bring the goodness, forum.

Has BJ ever been cut in any fight? If so I can't recall it.
-
The only problem there is that BJ has a very good chin coupled with the ability to not show any damage he might have actually taken.

Eric Pele vs Soa Palelei. Book it. So much confusion to be had. So much potential hilarity. -
I'm interested in seeing both guys strategies. Whether BJ will be more conservative with his striking to save up his gas tank for the later rounds and in turn if Joe will push the pace to try and wear BJ out. And yes Joe's striking is improved but I don't know how long he'll want to stand with BJ. Joe has only two KO/TKO victories in his entire career whereas we've seen the damage BJ's fists can do. If Joe got dropped by Yves Edwards there's no reason to think BJ can't do it either.
-
Ahhh Port Colborne. Meth capital of Ontario. Classy place. No offense to redbaron, of course.
-
Even though I want to see BJ be the sword of vengeance against Sherk for humping his way to a title and title defence I think Stevenson winning would be worth it to see the internet collectively melt down and watch BJ's fans question their place on this earth.

In contrast I live in a three bedroom apartment in downtown Toronto for 1350 with utilities included.

Hot shower, moisturizer, Mach 3, L'Oreal for Men foam. Booyah. Though I'm about 2 weeks into a beard so it's a moot point.
