This situation is causing people to react quite irrationaly, bordering on stupidity. GSP will be getting the winner of Hughes/Penn, no question.

It's not like Penn got dominated or anything. If GSP finished him or spanked him en route to the decison you could make that argument but Penn is the next-most deserving guy after GSP. Yes, I'm aware that I'm the dude saying he'd rather see no fight at all then this but Hughes vs a can or Hughes in a "special attraction" fight wouldn't cut it for me, seeing as how it'll almost be a year since he hasn't defended the belt in over a year.

Who else would you rather they put in there? Diego wouldn't be ready in time, Karo either. Fitch or Koscheck would get demolished.

I will never be cheering more for Hughes then I will in this fight.

The pairing of Kevin Nash and Alex Shelley in TNA is a better use of stars then WWE, not to mention being better handled then any angle WWE has done in a while. The skits are 10X funnier then anything Vince and Co. has done in an age. The give-and-take is equal and both guys are getting over, something WWE would never be able to pull off with a "Main Event" (and I use that term loosely for Nash) big-man star and a midcarder. I'm curious to hear what people can dig up to put against this.

I could the "big angle" to finish the season be Vince firing Ari after getting pissed off over the fuck-up regarding Bob and the script. Even though both make complete sense it would be a complete slap in the face to guys like Diego, Karo, Fitch and Koscheck so I sincerely doubt we'd be seeing either of those. Plus, UFC is very picky when it comes to bringing up past losses and I'm not sure they want to remind fans that Hughes got sub'd twice and KO'd from a knee.

On one hand you've got Diego vs Karo which should kick some serious ass and is easily the biggest main event on the UFN series so far. On the other hand the UFC is once again putting a bunch of fights on TV that can easily go the distance which is the #1 reason why the last few UFN's have blown so badly. Bonnar/Jardine and Goulet/Cummo are the only entertaining 3-rounders they've had in contrast to Evans/Hoger, Leben/Fiorvanti, Evans/Bonnar and Sylvia/Silva. I love how Leben is talking all kinds of shit about how he feels bad for Jorge because he's the first guy to face him after the Silva loss. Apparently Santiago is a standup fighter which means the minute Leben actually gets into it with the guy he'll go right for the clinch. I'd like to be proven wrong here. Koscheck/Goulet could easily go the distance but I wouldn't put it past Koscheck to KO Goulet with a slam or, barring that, a stiff exhalation from his nostrils. Not a single LW on this card either is hella weak.

I think you're all judging him way too quickly. 12 is the new 16 these days.
