I just realized I have a $10 gift card for Blockbuster so I'll probably buy it there instead of Rogers. Now the truest test is to see whether or not I'll be able to watch is from beggining to end like I originally planned. I'll be really tempted to watch "Walkabout" right off the bat as it's one of my faves and I haven't seen it in full since it's original viewing.

With the nominations being announced tommorow this is a good time to discuss all that is good on TV. I find right now an odd time to be a fan of TV shows considering what we get these days is either brilliant (Lost, Deadwood) or absolute crap (The Simple Life, Gilmore Girls......ok, maybe it's not THAT bad). I don't find there to be too many "happy medium" shows where you can just tune in and watch it. Serializations are becoming the next big thing amongst dramas as tommorows noms will no doubt show. So, what's killing it for you right now? Discuss Emmy Nominations if you feel like giving some shoutouts. Lost- The #1 show for me currently and no doubt this is going to be big amongst nominations tommorow. Best Drama is a gimme and I can see Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lily both getting nominations in the lead actor and actress category (which is a shame because Yunjin Kim has easily put in the best female performance on that show). As sad as it is for me to say it, Terry O'Quinn is going to get fucked over. The best I can hope for is a Best Supporting Actor nomineee but for some reason I can see that going to Josh Holloway instead due to the "breakout factor" he's had from the show. Deadwood- Get out the brooms because this cocksucker is sweeping the show. Best Drama? Check. Ian McShane and Timothy Olyphant for Best Actor? Check. Molly Parker for Best Actress? Check. A massively talented cast to choose from for the supporting roles? Done like dinner. Alongside The Shield this is probably the only show that could ever touch Lost for me. Arrested Development- The most underrated show on TV, period. I could give two shits about the broad critical acclaim because this show is like a great secret that you don't want to tell anybody about. It's the anti-Friends; you cannot be a dumbass and enjoy this show. From the disgustingly good continuity to the best ensemble comedy cast EVER (sorry Jerry and Co.) this show willl hopefully make Emmy viewers hear zoo noises come award time.

I'd probably call Kobashi's moonsault during the All Asia Tag League Finals against Furnas and Kroffat the best moonsault of all time. Yeah.

Biker Taker managed to pull good matches out of Jeff Hardy and green-as-grass Orton so I approve.

I didn't feel like starting up a new thread for this but the new New Pornographers CD is the fucking biscuits.

I remember seeing an episode of RAW a ways back and Road Dogg did a moonsault. It wasn't that good but I was impressed regardless. Even though I shouldn't be. Angle's moonsault is still a thing of beauty. I don't think anybody gets more hang time on theirs then him.

That's going to be the truest test of the shows appeal: whether or not it can still appear to be gritty and edgy without any of the benefits that specialty channels provide. If the writers and directors are good enough they'll find ways of getting around the subjects in terms of showing them while still being able to make them seem important.

I always thought that was part of JFK's appeal.

Foley/McMahon doesn't interest me at all, nor does Foley vs RVD. Foley vs Flair would be forth it for the promo's, however.

I think they're called latkas. It's egg mixed with some spices and shredded potatoes and made into pancake-type things. Really good and if you expirement with different herbs, vegetables and cheeses you can work some magic.

I finally found out today that Foxx is singing Ray Charles on "Gold Digger". I wish I'd have known that two weeks ago as I had a huge argument with a co-worker who insists that it's something Foxx or Kanye wrote for the song. Victory will be mine, albeit a little late.

So yeah, it's good. I really dig the Gil Scott-Heron sample on "My Way Home" and I'm happy to see Common and Kanye still doing their thing. A Common/Kanye/Legend tour coming around to the ACC would make me a happy man. Really fucking dissapointed in the Game being treated like Nate Dogg on "Crack Music" even though the song itself is fucking spectacular. Little weird that the original version of "Diamonds" is the bonus track but that's probably just Kanye being..........original. Yeah, that's it.

Jesus fuck, that shit WRECKED me. Never watched it relgiously but my mom is all about it so I caught it once and a while. Those last 10 minutes are going to be ingrained in my mind as some of the best 10 minutes of television ever filmed, period.

I'm not sure how much attention this is getting across the country but Toronto is currently racking up some serious numbers in the gun deaths category. It's bested 2004's total already and it's only August. Things are getting pretty fucked up, there's a story on The Toronto Star's site about a black city counsellor who thinks that police should intentionally target black youth when out on patrol. The chief is new to the job and already has been left with a mess that Julian Fantino did very little to curb. Kids are wearing shirts that stay "Stop Snitching". The fuck happened?

Watching SummerSlam tonight at the local theatre something dawned on me. Kids. The WWE is dominated by kids. That theatre was fucking overrun with people in two age brackets. 12 and under and 34 and over. Kids and parents to the fucking walls. And it really, really hurt the product. Which got me thinking to where the WWE has come today. It was a really odd night at the PPV in terms of crowd reaction. During the dueling chants for Cena and Jericho it was made abundantly clear that the children and female aspect was heavily in Cena's corner whilst the male audience was backing Jericho. Cena got a ton of boos, something that has also been growing lately. Seeing as how they made Angle out to be a monster tonight and he's facing Cena at Unforgiven I believe we will be seeing the same thing. Orton vs Taker is another example. Lots of females in the audience behind Orton and he was extremely over with the kids and ladies in the theatre tonight. Kids eat up Rey Mysterio like he's some sort of delicious candy. Somebody made a great point in the SummerSlam thread about how Eddy has been de-pushed to the point where people have been solidly behind him in this feud, despite WWE's heavy attempts to make him the heel. The WWE seems to have forgotten one thing the fans have not: Eddy Guerrero can be a really fucking great wrestler and has a lasting legacy with the audience. They will cheer him on that alone. If they're doing Eddy vs Batista I'll be very interested to see how things shape up. I doubt WWE would consider this any kind of a problem and it probably isn't but it was noticeable enough to me to actually wonder how it could effect things. The audience is becoming more vocal in terms of not taking to pushed heels and faces the way the WWE would like them to. Financially this audience is the bread and butter but it gradually will (and has to an extent) push hardcore fans away. And man, did I want to smack the fucking chick who kept calling Cena sexy and screamed right in myself (but more into Rudo's) ear when he won.
