Anyone else confused as to when they actually test wrestlers for steroids? Snitsky has more acne in more places than anyone currently. His face/head/chest/back/ and even legs tonight had very apparent zits all over tonight (yes, even more so than usual). Apparently he's the new heel monster, but didn't the previously pushed heel, Test, just get suspended for the same thing? Is Vince trying to save money by pushing guys he knows will fail the drug test, so they can wrestle without pay or what? Why do the make guys like Lashley babyface guys when guys with his body-type and lack of mic skills are much more easily got over by being bad-ass heels? Batista and Lashley have sucked as face champions, but easily would have been much better had they been/remained bad-ass heels , with/without a managing-mouthpiece.

Except, of course, for her newborn daughter... With all that plastic, I would have thought she were indestructible.

Was it screwed up? I got the idea that it was a ruse to distract Van Dam. No, it wasn't screwed up; it was a ruse to distract the referee from making the count and the eventual low-blow to RVD. Perfectly timed.

I actually thought it was great. I don't know about him as a wrestler, but as a character/announcer/commentator, he's really good at being the annoying heel. As far as charisma goes, he has much more than anyone else on ECW.

True, but roids did give him the necessary rage to become the R-Rated superstar!

The pick 6 was actually a first and ten at the 11:44 mark of the 4th quarter (and this was just after Grossman completed a 22 yd. pass to Muhammed). Game over at that point. Play by Play: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=20070204003
-
Never, I'm pretty sure.

There is no argument in regards to this, but the Bears only trailed by 5 in the 4th quarter with PLENTY of time until Grossman threw the pick for a touchdown (and forget the fact that he made no effort to actually stop the guy from running it back). His two snapped fumbles cleanly went into his hands from the replays (ie, not an exchange problem by the center) and his two successive self-sacks when the Bears were 2nd and 1 at their 40 or 45 in the third quarter killed them... and their defense further. The Bears D (and in particular Lovie) did themeselves no favors, of course, by playing so far off, but Grossman showed he could not move the Bears at all...they went almost two full quarters without a first down!
-
I definitely agree with you in regards to Lovie's very conservative defensive approach and worse, not adjusting at all. In regards to Grossman, it could be his continous fumbling, sacking himself twice, or the fact that despite what the coaching staff said all post-season, they had NO confidence in his ability (and rightfully so) as judged by the play calling the first 3 periods. The Bears coaches should know him better than any analyst, and in the end, knew he would not be able to do anything this game from the get-go. He finished 20 of 28, but with most coming iun the 4th quarter when the Colts were playing prevent. And the two interceptions, esp. the first, were unforgivable. And holy crap, Leena, your takes on the HOF candidates and English/Spanish speaking rants are dead on. Who Knew?

Peyton got a lifetime achievement Super Bowl MVP. It should have been a blowout. Anyways, the real MVP was Grossman, the true difference maker in the game.

In hindsight, that would have been a disaster if 'Taker gave Angle that rub. Angle isn't the only guy to get a classic out of 'Taker. Benoit, Cena (who is great at overbooked brawls), Edge and Michaels are very capable of it. I'm going with the premise that Taker is going to win the title (ie, he's not going to lose at Mania and thus give a huge rub; also, does Cena need a huge rub at this point; he's been champion for almost all of two years now and was US champion for pretty much a year before that). Cena cannot get a 4 or 5 star match out of Taker unless it's a gimmick match, which is where Cena seems to excel (otherwise, not so great). Benoit could have, cept' he's not a major player anymore and after his title run 2004, the majority of fans (non-smarks) don't give that much of a damn about him one way or the other, and certainly not for the main event of WM. Michaels would be okay, but I think he would have a problem carrying a guy the size of Taker for 25-30 minutes (Angle was great because of the variety of things he does; high-risk, submissions, counters to submissions, etc). Michaels is best when he's in a match with guy of similar size if it's a non-gimmick match (ie, Jericho, Angle, Edge...course those guys are just much better wrestlers than Taker as well). Edge would be the only one that I think at this point, could have a great match with Taker, esp. if they played up streak vs. streak, but I don't think Edge still has the credibility in fans eyes to main event a WM.

You know, if the were going to have the Undertaker win the Royal Rumble, they should have done it last year (2006) so the final match at WM would have been Angle vs. Taker. their 2006 NWO match was match of the year, by far, in my opinion. Angle is the only won that can get a 4 or 5 star match out of Taker, and while people may get excited about Cena/Taker or Bats/Taker, neither will be able to carry Taker or vice-versa. The last match at WM should be a classic, but it's not going to happen. I would have marked the f' out if the main event for last year's WM was the Angle-Taker match from NWO (with Taker winning if need be).

You guys are going to love the ending to smackdown on Friday (from reading the spoilers); makes things real interesting up until Wrestlemania.

Actually, Taz was booked pretty strong early in WWE, beating Angle and when he briefly won back the ECW title and challenged HHH. But the main problem with Taz in WWE of course is that no one could take him as a serious bad ass since he looked SO small next WWE wrestlers. You could cover that up in ECW but no way to do that in WWE (it's not like he's a high flyer like Mysterio), especially when his main move is a series of suplexes, which he can't do on guys like the Big Show/Kane, hell even with HHH it was difficult.
-
Honestly, it doesn't matter that much if he is jobbed for months until he goes to TNA. He has a legitimate fan base from the old ECW and when (if) he comes to TNA, it'll be a big thing, esp. since the majority of their wrestlers can wrestle at a quicker pace, which Van Dam excels at. Other than the obvious pot thing, one of the things that has been a problem for a Van dam run in the WWE is that he has to wrestle at a slower pace with the size of WWE wrestlers and how it's booked, because the majority can't keep up with him.

Joey Styles must want to blow his brains out commentating on this crap weekly. Poor Joey.

Okay, far-fetched, let's say Vince is set on Cena keeping the title, and having that as the last match (since it's the title of the more prestigious show/Cena is the biggest star promoted by WWE).. How about having Orton win a MITB, then having Taker win the title from Batista (who has no reaction from a crowd, and thus, I can't imagine stopping the streak), then have Orton run-in and win the title from him. Establishes Orton as a Uber-heel, which of course the WWE needs currently, and actually has continuity from the previous Orton-Undertaker WM storyline. Yeah, far-fetched, but trying to think of ways to make this upcoming WM more interesting. -

Here's one that hasn't been done yet: The guy who gets the contract uses it later that night during the main event. This is actually the best suggestion I've seen in quite sometime; it promotes a mid-carder instantly, and sets up two feuds already for that guy: one with the guy he just took it off of, and the second with the former champ (Cena/Bats). As long as that guy's not Hogan...or Khali, this is a cool idea. Kennedy would make this work, after tonight's performance. The definetly need something to spice up this WM with no real well developed heels/feuds (other than the overdone edge vs. Cena) -
Man, I'd die laughing if Taker blows out his knee between now and WM. Everything main event -wise would have to be scrapped and reshuffled. Could happen. Anyways, if taker didn't job to Orton , which would have made great sense/rub-wise, he sure as hell is not going to job to Batista, who has had a terrible run as a champion + can't stay healthy.
-
I don't think they'll have Batista win at WM. The best thing to do if they really want this match at WM is to put in on last, and have Undertaker win it. Then, since the crowd will be pro-Taker, turn Batista heel the next night with the whole "I tried to do everything for the fans and you guys turned on me" routine. Batista as a heel is much more interesting (possibly with a manager) and thus Taker gets the win, but Bats gets a rub by being given a reason to turn heel...and thus be interesting/relevant...or a reason to switch to RAW the next night and turn heel.

Dudes, having Booker in McMahon's corner in a match would be funny on a number of levels, esp. since Vince had a match booked in his company with a storyline of the antagonist (HHH) was blatantly racist (black man not good enough soryline) and ultimately "proved it" by going over clean over said Booker. This storyline/conclusion to a feud was much worse than Katie Vick, et al., ever.
-
Anyone else seeing the sub-main event as Cena beating Khali (given tonight's performance) and ending the night with taker beating bats? CM Punk vs. Michaels would be a fun Wrestlemania match...though it'll never happen.
-
No. Not after the reaction/lack there-of that Batista got tonight (and has had since he won the title from HHH). Really, perhaps worst champion ever on a number of levels.
