Congrats. Now make it a habit and keep the Evil Empire South out of the postseason.
-
That Phillies fan is almost as big of a douche about his team as viva is. Almost.
-
I knew Pujols would do that. I just didn't want to proclaim him the MVP after he did it.
-
Pujols for MVP111!!!1 The Cards folding like a house of their namesake WOULD be fantastic if it didn't mean the Asstros would take their spot. If only the Reds hadn't collapsed.
-
Because the Phillies don't deserve to backdoor their way into the playoffs.
-
I think the NFL may say otherwise.
-
I can almost see the ATH crawl having "Parcells to blame?" as topic # 2 now.

That went about as well as one could have expected. Gotta love dickhead reporters who change 2 words but ask the same fucking question over and over and over and over and over. And over.

It's possible he said that this case wasn't being looked at as a criminal offense, but at the same time it doesn't make sense that the paramedics would call the cops if they didn't think it was an attempted suicide. This whole thing just strikes me as odd, but nevertheless TO's getting another week of free pub out of this and his very own special SportsCenter.
-
That cop said that attempted suicide is not a criminal offense in his press conference. I say he tried to do it, and since it didn't "take" so to speak now they're in damage control and trying to bring up an allergic reaction.
-
His publicist made the 911 call, and is now denying that he tried to kill himself despite the police report which says he did. He could return to practice as early as tomorrow. This is just ridiculous.

It happens, but it doesn't mean it's a good thing. That's all I'm saying. I'd feel the same way if the Phillies and Mets swapped records too. How proud can you be that your team made the postseason by barely winning half of their games (if that many)? The 39-43 2004 Knicks were an embarassment to the NBA.
-
Yes, when an 8-8 NFL team or sub .500 NBA team makes the playoffs as a 6/8 seed respectively it makes the whole league look like crap. I don't care enough about hockey to worry about the NHL and their playoff structure.

97-93 Brewer 96-94 Forbes 96-94 Brewer That was almost another horrendous decision. Brewer dominated that lackluster fight. Bravo/K9 wasn't much of a fight either as K9 pretty much killed Bravo until the stoppage. All in all, that was probably the worst 2 hours of the series.

The problem is that a mediocre team like the Phillies that would have finished 15 or so games back in the division can still win the WS just because they were slightly better than a bunch of other horrendously mediocre teams. The NL as a whole this year has been the drizzling shits, and there are still 6 teams battling for 3 spots and NONE of those teams can even win 90 except for the Padres who would need to go 5-0 to get that far. Yes, it would SUCK for either the Tigers or Twins not to make the playoffs this year with 95-100 wins, but not nearly as much as it sucks that the Phillies might be able to win the WS with 83-85 regular season wins having been all but out of the NL East race since late June (they were 12 out on June 26th). At a certain point the Phillies would have had to go on about a month and a half run of .700 baseball to make a serious push under the old system. With the WC in effect, they might be able to sneak in with a barely over .500 mark and that just makes the playoffs look bush league.

Muy interesante. Most of the games I have for the PS2 are from Square, so if they go elsewhere with their games, or multiplatform them, there's even less of an incentive for me to get a PS3 in the distant future.

If the E cuts him loose he can just go reform Team Angle, or enter a tag team with Ron 'The Truth' Killings in TNA. In the long run it would be in his best interest for Vince to make room for another meathead by cutting Shelton.

Do Mets fans want to face Oswalt, Clemens and Pettitte in the first round? The only way that's possible is if Houston wins the division and Philly gets the WC. I don't see both happening, so it's kind of irrelevant. However, I wouldn't mind beating Clemens' ass on the way out because when Roger says he's retiring it sticks!

Marvin only had about 8 chances to bang broads but always found a way to get into a "I have plans that will NOT change for you!", or an "I know we had plans, but someone at work decided THEY wanted to have sex today so I have to go cover for him" situation. As has been said, he could have asked her to go to the park with him. There was another time he could have had sex and chose sleep, then there was something about watching a race with a girl, that didn't take place because he needed more "MARVIN time". That doesn't even bring up the times where it was suggested he take a day off and he nearly had a meltdown because the idea that someone else might actually have to work for their daily pay was unfathomable to him. For a guy who was always by himself, how much fucking alone time did he really need?

I can't wait to see the whole ATH crew on ESPN do a complete 180 tomorrow and say that the Saints won this game because of emotion.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Griffey returning with a GW 3 run HR. He's now tied with Reggie Jackson for #10 on the career list with 563. Had he not been so injury prone I think it would have been awesome to see him and Barry race to try to break Aaron's record first.

Michael Vick is showing tonight why the Chargers did so much better by moving him for what amounted to LT & Brees back in the day. He is the greatest RB ever to play the position though, so that should count for something.
