Florida's been on a tear of late winning 14 of 19 and they're still 8 games below .500. Predicting them to win the World Series as soon as next year is what got Mik blasted. The Mets have the best record in the NL and have almost wrapped up the division already, but I won't predict them to win the Series THIS year. I hope Detroit, Boston and the ChiSox keep winning because as of right now the Yanks are 6 games behind in the WC and I don't think they're gonna catch Boston. Oh how I'd love to see a postseason without Derek Jeter.

I got home just in time to watch another guy take a dive in the box and get a bogus PK. Fortunately, this douche missed.
-
Two words for that: nigga please. The Giants may finish last, but that's because our out of division schedule is insanely difficult from what I remember. At worst we go 3-3 in the division, it's the other 12 games that scare me. Our offense should put up 24+ PPG, and that'll be enough to win a good portion of our games.

You know things are bad when I'm rooting for the Yankees to beat the Marlins to silence an overly excited fan. I'm glad to see that Glavine picked up # 286 and that Wright hit another big HR, but more than anything else I hope Duaner's OK.

We never should have gone there, and should have left months ago. Only in America do we make sure that even our failures are spectacular by not admitting we made a mistake to begin with.

They're all playing baseball. Fortune and fame come in MLB, not MLS. If they're good enough, they can make just as much in one of the big UEFA leagues. MLS certainly isn't the pinnacle of soccer success in the US, no matter what USA Soccer would have you believe, and the US isn't going to have any future World Cup success if the majority of their players are from MLS. Yeah, but to make it to UEFA and make the huge money you need to be a stud by like 16 or so. Most American families don't have the means or ability to send their kids overseas to play against the best competition, and then again we're not one of those countries where kids turn pro until they're finished with HS except for golf and tennis. American kids also know that if they can be the next LeBron they too can make big money and not have to leave the country. Most American kids wouldn't know Ronaldinho, or how much he makes even if he walked by them with a Ronaldinho jersey on.

This Clemens kid looks like he needs some more time in the minors to develop his pitches.
-
The same can be said of the Cowboys and Dolphins. Putting the Bengals in the Top 10 when Palmer may not play this year is also silly.

The Knicks are about $100 million OVER the cap and still looking to "acquire assets". The Cubs are just snakebitten with their stars of the future, Wood & Prior. The Cubs can get healthy, the Knicks can't fix their problem unless Isiah stops spending. Basically, barring the Dolans and Isiah going down in a plane crash there is no way to fix this mess given the mindset of those in charge.

Now the Brazilians are just toying with the Japanese defense. They would have put up at LEAST 6 against the Americans. Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing to get bounced by Ghana.
-
That Japanese goalie sucks. The ball was hit from distance and didn't curl at all. Lame.
-
No, they don't send you anything in return. It was pretty much not an issue once they did the installation.

Mr. Wright just hit his 2nd 2 run HR of the game. 6-2 Los Mets.
-
The home plate ump at Shea is terrible as his strike zone is all over the place. A blown 3rd strike call on Beltran just allowed Wright to hit a game tying 2 run HR.

C'mon, there ain't no room fer gays in the great state o' Texas!

2003 Marlins. The team that made the Phillies, Braves, Giants, Cubs and Yankees all come together to mutter, "fucking Marlins." I suppose the Bartman Ball qualifies, but I don't know why those other franchises would be crying about losing to them. Pedro just got robbed of a hit. The umps at Shea have been the drizzling shits on every close play this season.

I hate to be a prick, but there are still about 6 1/2 days for this to go horribly, horribly wrong and the odds say that it will by this weekend. I hope I'm not right about this, but I wouldn't be shocked to see this one go by the boards too.

As a Mets fan all I need to say is "1986" and fans of TWO franchises weep. Top that bitches. Top that.

No one had the expectations that we would make the Quarters or Semis back then. Our inflated "#5" ranking just goes to show that we still suck and that beating up on CONCACAF teams really means fuck all on the top flight international stage. If the World Cup was annual it wouldn't be a big deal, but Americans in general are going to grow impatient with having to wait 4 years to see us "underachieve" relative to our rankings yet again. Aside from Mexico there's really no one we play frequently who is better than us so we'll still have a lofty ranking by 2010, and we'll still shit the bed because we're just not that good.
-
Pshaw, Bowen doesn't make enough money. We'll only make that deal if you add in Juwan Howard and take Frye and our next 2 # 1's, unprotected of course.
-
Ghana deserved to win, but I think once and for all American soccer is dead and will never recover. # 5 in the World my ass. At least we didn't lose 8-0 to Brazil.
-
Yeah, it's not like any popular American sport has terrible officiating in the championship round. Oh, wait... When the NBA Finals are one and done and refs starts making teams play 5 against 4, or 4 against 3, or refs can give a team the equivalent of 40 points because of one infraction, then it would be equal. There's also the matter of this "prestigious" event taking place every 4 years, which makes the horrid officiating that much worse since certain guys will never get a chance to get back.
-
So, when an American kicks a dude in the stomach there's not even a whistle, but when nothing happens in the box it's a penalty kick? I can't begin to fathom how this is the most popular game in the world after watching the last two USA matches.
-
2-1 Ghana thanks to the refs. We're not getting 2 more goals.
