El Duque for Julio is something I would approve of even if El Duque could never pitch again. In 20 years Zambrano for Kazmir will go down as the Mets biggest gaffe.
-
Thanks for the explanation. After seeing the Mets nearly use up two or three potential starters to get through yesterday's game I was just curious about how indiscriminantly LaRussa was using up pitchers like he has an unlimited supply.
-
Um, why has LaRussa blown through two starting pitchers in 2 innings? Did Thompson get hurt? If not, what was the point of using Marquis to hit for him, only to go to his 3rd pitcher in the 3rd inning?

April: 5-0, 1.34 ERA Cubs won all 5 games May: 0-soon to be 4, 8.44 ERA (thru 5th inning today) Cubs will have lost all 5 games I think it's safe to say that whatever pixie dust Maddux was using is gone. I must see the trainer incident just because that sounds funny.

This makes his contributions down the stretch even more impressive. I'm sure you're as shocked as I was to discover Timmy didn't get a foul called against him on the play in question.

VIVA PUERTO RICO! Beltran ends this bad boy!
-
Madson's going to need Tommy John surgery after this game. He has now thrown more pitches than the starter did last week when the game began.
-
I missed it. What did they say? Utley was safe, so the Beltran blunder is no longer an excuse for me.
-
Someone tell Madson this isn't Game 7 of the World Series. It's OK to throw a batting practice fastball and let a Met hit it out so everyone can go home tonight.
-
If the guy hadn't mistakenly called Beltran out back in the 11th (?) this game would already be over. I'm guessing a HR here in the 15th does it one way or the other since no one is bunching hits together.
-
The truth. I'd be all over Beltran's dumb ass if he was out. It was a stupid move, but he got back in in time. It doesn't matter since the Mets didn't get it done in the rest of the inning.
-
I'm very happy that bitch Russ Springer got lit up tonight. Speaking of bitches, is there any reason that Michael Barrett hasn't been suspended yet?
-
What are you talking about? Beltran clearly overslid the bag. Rollins tagged him while he was on the bag, let go when he overslid, and Beltran got back in before Rollins reapplied the tag. There were only 4 camera shots that showed he was safe.
-
The Mets got jobbed by the 2nd base up on that "out". They should have won this game right there.
-
they should if they want to win 3 more games where the circumstances won't be the same. Wade played 26 minutes, Shaq played 29, Haslem didn't score in 37 minutes and they still won. If anything Miami didn't play their 'A' game either. Detroit's legs won't get any fresher playing every 2 days and this is exactly the kind of game Miami would most certainly end up losing the series over if they didn't win it.
-
A road team should never worry about how they got a win.
-
Detroit might just be in trouble here. Wade and Shaq barely played, Haslem was a black hole on offense and Miami still won. If they take Game 2, they should be able to close it out in 6.
-
I'm sure that the X-Rays won't show that your hand had been broken beforehand.

Jeannine Edwards. Definitely worthy of a lengthy tapping.

I don't recall a single game the Suns have played this postseason where Nash was their best player from start to finish. Granted, I didn't see either game 7, but Diaw, Barbosa, Thomas and Marion have all shone much brighter than anyone on Dallas' supporting staff with the exception of Terry. There's no other team in the postseason that would win a 7 game series if their "best" player was playing like shit for at least 4/7 of the games. Detroit has been a horrible, horrible offensive team in all of the games I've seen this postseason. I really don't want to see these guys win another title.
-
And he also gives A-Rod the "game winning" hit should Boston not score again.
-
Abreu just showed some severe vaginitis by not trying to catch a ball that could have just let the Mets back into the game. I'm not saying he had to be Aaron Rowand and try to headbutt the wall, but at least allow yourself to get within a few feet of it before pulling up.
-
LoDuca bobbling that perfect strike from Endy just cost the Mets this game, as they now trail 6-2 Top 5 when he should have gotten out of the inning with the score tied at 2. A sweep is now likely since I have no confidence in Gonzalez or Soler.

Miami does not look rusty thus far. 9-0.
