I'm not going to repeat what you guys have already said, but I think this was generally a really good show that let the characters have some growth but stay the same for the most part. It probably could have ended after season 5 or 6, but even when it wasn't great it was better than anything Fox could have replaced it with. It's one of the few modern comedies I can still watch and laugh at when the repeats are on which is something that likely wouldn't have happened if it had been on one of the major networks simply because it probably would have been cancelled after season 1 or 2 due to the ratings.

Much the same way that the CFL & the NFL has different rules, one could say. Exactly.
-
I'm not really advocating the guy either way, but that's a damn fine resume if you want to make the case. If you're going to bother calling it a pro football hall of fame and not the NFL hall of fame, you should probably have the best CFLer of all time in there. The problem with putting Flutie in Canton based almost solely on CFL numbers (which don't really translate) is then you open up the door for the best Arena Leaguer(s) of all time as well since that's professional football too. I get the idea, but it just doesn't seem right to see Flutie get in.

True, but there were 2 outs in the inning when Madson gave up the lead. As a Mets fan, I'm all for the Phillies Pen blowing as many games as possible, but I'm sure it's frustrating for young Cole to get the Mets era Tom Glavine treatment aka pitch really well and then watch the relief core piss away win after win.

Here's my quick day game recap. . . Phillies Pen 2 Hamels 0 Robbed again. --- Wood has given up just 5 hits through 5 . . . but 3 are HRs, so he trails 4-0. --- Padilla got squeezed on pitches to Posada and instead of Texas leading 4-0 thru 7, it's now 4-2, but Jeter K'ed with men on 1st and 2nd ending the inning. --- Jose Lima is the drizzling shits. Send him back to the minors. --- Bannister is hurt again. Yay, more Lima and Jeremi Gonzalez!

Not that I watch it anymore, but is the Bernie Mac Show officially cancelled?

I would love to, if it wasn't for some jackass who wasn't even involved in the initial discussion saying that I don't know anything about sports. Well you don't, and you continue to show it by saying that game 3 was more important than game 6 to the team trying to end the series. In the words of Mark Twain, "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

Lima Time = another Mets loss. Cards lead 2-0 bottom 1, and the Mets have already made 2 boneheaded plays in the field. At least we're going backhome for the next 6 big games.

Underdogs don't face pressure against overwhelming favorites when they're behind in the series. That's why they're underdogs, ie they're not expected to win. The Pistons are THE favorites to win the NBA title. For comparison's sake, the Cavs were a pick'em against the Wiz even with the HCA. If you don't get that, that's on you. Almost universally the Cavs were expected to get swept, or perhaps steal game 3 at home and lose in 5 to Detroit. They've been playing with house money the last three games. If they lose game 6, the season is over. If they win game 6 they make the ECF. That my friend is the definition of pressure, not validating LeBron's status or winning a game at home that no one expected them to win, and really wouldn't have been that shocked if they lost. Now they have a chance to ELIMINATE the Pistons, and you're trying to equate that to making the series deficit 2-1. I won't bother responding after this because you've proven that you don't understand one simple fact, the hardest game to win in any series, ESPECIALLY FOR THE UNDERDOG is the elimination game. The Cavs have almost no postseason experience, while the Pistons fully expect to win the series, but yeah you're right there's NO pressure on Cleveland whatsoever. Explain to the Lakers the idea that winning a game on the road earlier in the series means that you can easily go do it again if you lose game 6 at home. Oh wait, that's right they did just that and got curbstomped in game 7.
-
There wasn't any tension when they were down 2-0 to the Pistons? There wasn't any pressure placed on the Cavaliers when Rasheed Wallace said the Pistons would win the series in five games? The pressure for game six won't be any greater than the pressure they have already faced. No, there wasn't any pressure on the Cavs in games 3 & 4 because no one expected them to win either of those games. There was no pressure in game 5, because everyone naturally assumed Detroit would win that pivotal game at home. In fact, this is the first truly pressurized game LeBron has ever played, because if they lose Game 6 AT HOME, their season will be over in the same manner that Phoenix wiped the floor with the Lakers in Game 7. If you don't think that an elimination game where you can knock out the 2 time defending Eastern Conference champs AND the odds on favorites to win this year's NBA title is different than trying to get the series back to 2-1, then you clearly know nothing about sports.

You're not calling biased officiating, are you? Stern would much rather have the Mavs in the WCF. I thought the only questionable call was the 2nd jumpball. Looked like Dallas got the TO in before Ginobli got there to me, but Dallas still got 2 shots off at the end. I'm going back a little bit further to the play where Duncan fouled Harris on a lay up attempt, Harris grabbed the rebound and then as he was going up again, Duncan basically smothered his head in a sort of headlock to get a jump ball there. Ginobili reached around and over Terry's arm for the strip with under 2 minutes (?) to go, which was a foul when other players did it to Dirk or Duncan. And clearly Terry had possession and he and two other Mavs were calling time before the Spurs tied him up for the last jump ball of the game. None of the calls were horrible. None of them cost the Mavs the game. It just doesn't look good when one team gets every break inside of the last few minutes in what amounted to a one point game. The first jump ball play occurred at 5.3 I think, the Mavs won the 2nd tip with 2.4 left. Those 3 seconds could easily have given Dallas a better look, but then again they didn't score at all in the last 2 minutes so they deserved to lose.
-
The Mavs got jobbed on about 5 different plays down the stretch, I hope and pray it's not a close game at the end of Game 6 since they likely won't get any of the calls again.
-
How did the Mavs not get a time out there? Bullshit.
-
Duncan gets away with murder in the low post. He fouled Harris twice on that play which led to a jump ball, and he shoulder dips just as hard as Shaq does, but since he doesn't have the extra 100 pounds he gets away with it. He's an all-time great, but he gets to do essentially whatever he wants and only gets called for fouls when he blatantly slaps someone across the face or arms.
-
I'll go so far as to say that Dallas will win by at least 8. Tim-may will eventually miss shots, he and Parker all but played the perfect half and the Mavs are even IN San Antonio. Manu will make a run, but Nowitzki's 14+ second half points seal the deal.
-
They're still doing construction.
-
Congrats to the Cleveland LeBrons, as a Shaq & Wade fan, I hope you guys win Game 6 and make Miami's road to the NBA Finals that much easier. Go Bron Bron! Now if only Dallas would eliminate San Antonio tonight we'd be in business.
-
So who ended up winning? I just walked in and missed the end.

'Sheed got a first place vote too. Some of these "homer" votes really defeat the purpose of having awards/honors.

After looking to see who seemed MIA from the lists I discovered that this is the first time since 1998 that KG didn't make one of the teams, first time since 2000 for T-Mac, and the first time in Tim Duncan's career (1998) that he didn't make the 1st team. Interesting stuff for me at least.

No-mah continues to resurrect his career.

I want The Hippies win in what amounts to a foot race type situation, The Frats to come in 2nd and Ray & Yolanda to end up 3rd despite having the lead late in the final leg. I'll guess the order is Frats, Hippies, Angry Couple.

I think the ratings over the years would show you that you represent maybe 1 in every 20 NBA fans. No one goes to a playoff game hoping, "Gee I hope whichever team gets to 65 first wins!". There's a difference between an excellently played defensive game, and the streetball that the late 90s showcased.

Isn't she supposed to be a die-hard Lakers fan? And she was at this game? Oh fuck these bandwagon celebrities. If the Clippers ever rise championship levels and the Lakers ever drop to Clipper levels then I guarantee you ever smuck in Hollywood will be supporting the Clippers and going "Lakers who?" This will never happen. The Clippers are experiencing a better measure of success this year and perhaps they'll stay competetive for the next 2-3 years with the Lakers, but make no mistake about it, LA is Laker country. The Clippers just happen to reside there. Exactly. It's somewhat like the Knicks/Nets situation in that in the last 5 years the Nets won the division 4 times, made it to the NBA Finals two years in a row, while the Knicks have been the drizzling shits for that whole time, and even still the area doesn't care about the Nets and MSG would be packed to the rafters if they ever field a competitive team again. The Clippers will always be viewed as the JV team.

That may have been the best article I've ever read on ESPN. I agree with pretty much everything he said, and also am quite happy that for the most part the agonizing to watch 74-72 playoff game has been eliminated from my TV. Even when the Knicks were doing really well with their mastery of basketbrawl, I couldn't stomach that every single night.
