It still amazes me that Texas essentially paid A-Rod $141 million (IIRC) for 3 years of 73, 72 and 71 win baseball. That's what happens when you outprice the market by $63 million for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Tom was the best because Terry essentially only needed to beat Aras to keep winning the IC's. Colby also had a cupcake draw and considering he gave the million away I can't really say he was the best at anything but being pussywhipped without actually getting any pussy. I also should clear up the notion that Terry is a great player. Physically he's easily in the all time top 3 or 4, but he is one of THE worst at understanding the mental aspect of Survivor. With half of a brain he would have been able to flip either Courtney, Bruce or Shane at some point but he wanted to get Danielle and that will eventually be his downfall. Having said that, he did make one of the greatest one vs tribe runs in the history of the show. Sadly he won't even get the $100,000 booby prize for being the best loser.

No, the majority of the Yankees aren't worth what they're being paid, but that's what happens when Steingrabber wants an All-Star team. Jeter getting ~$19 million per over 10 years is perhaps the worst contract in the history of sports. . . well, following A-Rod's $25.2 million per over 10 years. The ironic thing is the most recent championship run for the Yankees was fueled by role players, and yet The Boss seems to have forgotten that. Most importantly the Hanley Ramirez to the Yankees thing was a joke since he plays El Capitan's position, and if A-Rod couldn't move him, no one will.

And even with all of those acquisitions your payroll is still ~$75 million more than anyone else in MLB (BoSox) and $93 million more than the Mets. Yeah. Houston Astros $92,551,503 $76,779,000 Atlanta Braves $90,156,876 $86,457,302 San Francisco Giants $90,056,419 $90,199,500 St. Louis Cardinals $88,891,371 $92,106,833 Philadelphia Phillies $88,273,333 $95,522,000 Seattle Mariners $87,959,833 $87,754,334 Detroit Tigers $82,612,866 $69,092,000 ------------------ The Yankees pay enough to their players to compensate not only the Mets but also any of the teams above this line as well Baltimore Orioles $72,585,582 $73,914,333 Toronto Blue Jays $71,915,000 $45,719,500 San Diego Padres $69,896,141 $63,290,833 Texas Rangers $68,228,662 $55,849,000 Minnesota Twins $63,396,006 $56,186,000 Washington Nationals $63,143,000 $48,581,500 Oakland Athletics $62,243,079 $56,186,000 Cincinnati Reds $60,909,519 $61,892,583 Arizona Diamondbacks $59,684,226 $62,329,166 Milwaukee Brewers $57,568,333 $39,934,833 Cleveland Indians $56,031,500 $41,502,500 Kansas City Royals $47,294,000 $29,679,067 Pittsburgh Pirates $46,717,750 $38,133,000 Colorado Rockies $41,233,000 $48,155,000 Tampa Bay Devil Rays $35,417,967 $29,679,067 Florida Marlins $14,998,500 $60,408,834 ----- Or you could have the Red Sox and any of these fine franchises as well. You could just about have the Sox, Rockies and Devil Rays for the price of one Yankees squad.

How long until he's a Yankee? Carlos Lee just made Soriano look like a Gold Glove LF'er misjudging a ball so badly that he gave the Mets a 2-0 lead on a routine flyball. That was hilarious.

Isiah is said to be Brown's replacement as coach to boot. God strike me down if that happens, if only to spare me from the misery

But what about the fact that he's done fuck-all in the postseason? He's undeniably a great player, but all the Timberwolves have to show for it are two series victories in one year of eleven. When does he plan to be part of a winning team? I'm sure he will eventually, but if he doesn't get to at least the Finals once, that's gotta count against him. That doesn't matter if KG ends up in the top 15-20 or better in NBA history in points and rebounds and ends up with more assists than any PF in the history of the game too.

I hope Detroit blows Cleveland out by 20+ tonight and puts the LeBron show on ice in 4 straight. I'm sick of all of the stories about him, and once he's put to sleep they might actually have to concentrate on the actual games and not promoting guys the marketing department decided deserve all of the attention.

Getting beat by Piazza in 2006 is pretty tough to take.

They can't just arbitrarily call the shoulder dip on Shaq but no one else. They don't call the handcheck when guys have both forearms in his back, or an arm extended to try and keep him from getting position, so why focus on the other foul only? Yes, Shaq should adjust, but it's become an epidemic this postseason where almost every defender decides to just fall down and pray for an offensive foul instead of playing defense.
-
I think you're talking more about the taking the charge vs flop idea, where I agree it's safer to go down. But, I'm talking more about the idea of Jason Collins diving to the floor every time Shaq executes a spin move/shoulder dip and raises his arms for a shot attempt, or you have a guy try to back someone down in the low block and the defender basically takes a back bump to the floor. Between the Nets, Suns, Cavs and Bulls (all undersized teams who probably need to use it) the flop has become their primary defensive move on any drive to the basket or post up. Add in Ginobili & Bowen and there's at least a handful of blatant dives per game being called offensive fouls lately. Don't get me wrong it won't matter in the Finals when Detroit and SA play because Detroit doesn't dive and their main offensive threats are more perimeter/mid-range oriented players, but it's really hard watching the guys at the "highest professional level" play like a bunch of bitches in the postseason when the game is supposedly more physical.

When I said Aras protected Cirie, I meant that he always made the decisions when his team won, and he took the bullet when Terry's team won. Cirie was never in line to go, much like Courtney. Aras also basically sent Danielle 2 or 3 times in order to protect Cirie. The rational thing to do would have been to send them each once, so as to maintain the semblance that they were in equal positions with him. How no one in the game has seen this is beyond me, especially when Cirie's made comments to the effect that she would never, ever vote against Aras. I think you're giving her far too much credit, when her biggest escape was convincing the other old chicks to get rid of the strongest one. Since then, she's coasted. The 3-2-1 thing didn't really take all that much planning since Terry has voted for Aras every single time since the merge, and has shown little, if any strategic thought in that regard. Regardless of who wins the money, at this point only two people would deserve it and they are Terry and Aras in that order. Danielle or Cirie pocketing $1 million for riding alliance coattails until the F4 would be just one more reason for me to stop watching this show.

Nice push off by Nash on that jumper. It's funny how the Suns whine about everything that goes against them, but Nash can throw kicks and shove off on offense and defense. Snapper Jones has been awful in this game.
-
All we need is for this clunker to go to OT. If I wasn't wide awake against my will I wouldn't be watching this game. It's like one of those early season games where nothing exciting happens.
-
Will Nash get in trouble for throwing a kick at a player? Or does it only count if it connects?
-
Radmanovic is on FIYAH!~ Bullshit call right there, but that's what I've come to expect from the Phoenix Phloppers.
-
You can find all of the performances on rickey.org That saves you the trouble of DL'ing the whole show(s).

Is anyone else really annoyed by the number of flops per playoff game these days in the NBA? I'm not saying go back to the "no blood, no foul" mentality of the '90s, but I'm sick of guys diving around like soccer players the moment there's even a hint of contact. It seems like every time someone posts up a guy flops, grabs his face and hopes for a charge.
-
I think if Elton Brand scores a couple of more baskets in the first half he will officially own the Phoenix Suns franchise. They're making him look like Wilt Chamberlain in his 50.4 PPG season.

That's keepin' the faith! It's so weird seeing Brad Lidge pitch in the 7th again. It's like I fell back three years in time. With automatic losses at the 4 and 5 spots in the rotation we can't lose games that Pedro & Trachsel start, especially to teams like Philly as we did this week. Oh yeah, and we've got the Cards, Yankees and Phillies after this series in Milwaukee. We could very easily go 4-7 or worse in the next 11.
-
The Mets are now down to a 2 game lead in the division, and we've got Jeremi Gonzalez on tap for tomorrow baby! I'll go with next Saturday being the day we officially lose the lead.
-
Uh, what the fuck are you talking about? He had a great outing, and the bullpen cost him his first ML win. Show me where I said he did a bad job or otherwise said anything negative about anything he did tonight.
-
Is Rickie Weeks the worst infielder in the NL? The dude is a 2nd baseman with ELEVEN errors in 31 games.
-
I never said he should have blown off work, I simply said he could have done with an hour or three less sleep. As an insomniac who finds sleep precious, I'd still give that up for sex without a second thought.

The Brew Crew get SIX runs thanks to a blown call at 3rd. Not that the Mets didn't deserve getting their asses handed to them for leaving Lima in that long.
