Posted this in the wrong thread before, but Matsui is undergoing surgery tomorrow for a broken left wrist. The streak is over.

I'd say that Carlos Delgado is pretty underrated considering he's only been an All-Star twice but entering tonight his career averages are .284/.393/.560 with 381 HR & 1201 RBI. He's a shitty fielder but is a professional hitter with a lot of pop and he'll only be 34 next month. He could come close to 500 HR and 1500 RBI and isn't really thought of all that highly nationally.
-
Why should I give a Phillies player credit? The next time he makes an out with RISP he'll get booed at home, just like we boo Beltran even though he busted up his face last year. It just sucks that the Mets had good chances to win all 3 games in the series, and will end up with only 1 victory. I don't see us winning either of the next two games either, so this was a big series.

All I can say is Aaron Fucking Rowand. If he drops that ball, the game is a push and he broke his nose for nothing.
-
Hideki made a sliding dive for a ball, missed it and all of his weight was going forward while his glove hand stayed behind underneath him. As he was being taken off of the field, the trainer held his wrist firmly and Matsui wasn't even trying to move it. If it's not broken, I'd be stunned if he didn't at least tear tendons/ligaments just based on the way it was bent. Of course Trachsel gives up a bomb and Philly leads 1-0 when Wright missed a 3 run homer by a few inches thanks to the wind, and of course Rowand's 3 run saving catch.
-
Aaron Rowand is a cocksucker, he just took away a 3 run double for Nady. I think he probably broke his nose on the wall when he smashed into it. The catch of the year so far, but still he could have saved his face and taken the 3-0 deficit just the same.
-
Yes, Hideki probably will see DL time/miss a game for the first time since 1994. That did not look good at all.

Odom's got $12.5 coming his way next year but is off of the books in 2009. Mihm is due $4.2 but is in his walk year, and Bynum is making $2 million next year, with 2 team options following at chump change (sub $3 million) That's $18.7 million total. The money will end up being about the same because Chandler's making at least $10-11 million, Deng is getting $2.5, and a top two draft pick would make at least $4.5 which totals $17 million on the low end. The problem is Chandler's signed through 2011. That's an albatross of a contract. I think it comes down to do you want a guy with more upside and a shorter deal or do you want a higher draft pick. Considering Mihm is basically dead money, take him clear the cap space in a year and develop Bynum and Odom to be your two main bigs.
-
Odom has to be part of the deal because his contract is comparable, and he's conservatively 20 times the player that Chandler is. If you want to match it up properly, it's Odom vs Chandler, with Bynum/Mihm being the throw ins vs someone like Deng and the # 1 overall pick the Bulls will likely get thanks to Isiah. Theoretically if I'm going to get stuck with a shitty contract, I want the best player available with a shitty contract, not say a Tim Thomas or Malik Rose just to name a few. You can't just trade a $20 million player for draft picks and lower end players in the NBA.

I don't think Kobe deserved the first team, but neither did Kidd. LeBron, Wade and Arenas didn't deserve votes at all, and Paul should have fared better. I think that coaches just went with "name" players, and called it a day.
-
Ask the Knicks how that Eddy Curry deal is working out. Overpaid, pussified 7 footers aren't really 7 footers (see Yao Ming). Odom, Bynum, Mihm and draft picks is a better offer than 1 high draft pick, 1 low draft pick, Chandler, and someone like Deng, or the other lower tier Baby Bulls. Even if you add in the option of selecting Aldredge or Tyrus Thomas, that's still not as good in the short run, and if Bynum develops he'll surely be better than Chandler, and he'll cost less.
-
That's got to suck to find out if you were the lead singer in Alter Bridge.
-
Ben Wallace not making 2 ballots is a joke. I don't know about Kobe and/or Kidd tying for the # 2 guard spot. And the jackass coach who nominated LeBron for All-NBA first team defense should be fired because clearly he knows nothing. Chris Paul getting 1 vote, despite being 3rd in the league in steals is pretty sad too.
-
Someone giving OSCAR, Cousy and Frazier no votes is ridiculous, as is Payton being rated the 4th best PG of all time by 1 voter, but overall I think the order of the top 6 is about right.
-
I'm happy Glavine got # 280 with relative ease tonight. If only we hadn't wasted that opportunity last night. Well, hopefully Trachsel gets us a victory tomorrow since the two games after that will likely be losses/bullpen killers.
-
Yeah, they really shouldn't let the teams playing the best compete for the Stanley Cup. Let's let the regular season titans like Detroit & Ottawa battle it out for the Cup despite the fact neither of those teams is built for postseason success.
-
I like how everyone thinks that Scottie Pippens grow on trees. The guy was only one of the 5 or 10 best players in the league during the championship run. Barring someone like Kobe or Wade deciding to play second fiddle to LeBron, good luck finding a player of that skill level who doesn't want to be "the man" and will gladly deflect all of the praise to LeBron. I thought Marion was that kind of guy, but even he's getting vaginitis thanks to Nash getting all of the attention. I just don't see someone being THAT good/versatile willing to be the # 2 option on any team.
-
You're probably right about Mihm, but the T-Wolves could do a lot worse than adding a starting and back up center, Odom and a pick or two to get even more size. Hinrich & Gordon, plus Aldredge/Thomas and a mid to late 1st rounder however would easily be better salary cap wise and probably wouldn't kill the Bulls either. No matter what happens, the team that lands Garnett will be closer to a title than Minnesota would be with or without him.
-
You "Bulls have better chips for KG" guys disgust me. The Lakers deal would give Minny an entire FRONTCOURT aka Bynum at the 5, Mihm at the 4 and Odom at the 3. What draft pick this year is going to be good at any of those positions with the possible exception of Aldredge? The Bulls have no size (duh) to offer since Chandler is a 7'1 pussy and the T-Wolves already have a ton of guards. The only way the Bulls would make a better offer than a starting front line is by offering both # 1's, Hinrich AND Gordon at the minimum. Deng and Chandler being included is more of a detriment to making the deal than anything.

If Chris goes home, this season's winner will be dwarfed by him in sales in the future. Neither Taylor, Kat nor Elliott has the sales potential that Chris does, even though all 4 definitely have talent.
-
Tell me again why teams pitch to Pujols? The guy is automatic.
-
It's nice to know that Deron Williams had a family member amongst the 125 voters, and that Felton was the 4th best rookie, but didn't make the first team. The whole voting process is a fucking joke.

Considering KG is only turning 30 next week, barring injury he will likely retire with 25,000+ points (17,337), 12,500+ rebounds (9,567), 5,000+ assists (3,833), 2,000+ blocks (1,450), and 1,500 steals (1,193). Even if he never plays another postseason game, he's a LOCK on the first ballot for the HOF. Hell, if he retired tomorrow he'd probably get in on his first or 2nd try. Being likable doesn't hurt his cause, while Marbury's personality will hurt him in the long run.

Nike might wanna update the slogan to "We are all witnesses. . . to an execution." At least the Wiz would have shown a semblance of heart.
