I don't think so. Games are won and lost on both ends. All I think is that Griffey should be moved out of center in favor of one of the better CFs already on the team. Since he's a productive hitter, DH him. Buck in his infinite wisdom has used Chipper (2x), A-Rod, D. Lee and Teixeira as his DH's so he can keep the secondary guy at the corner spot in the lineup throughout the game instead of putting in some defense. I just saw that Teixeira is 0-12 with 3 K's which is beyond pathetic.

Griffey's the only bat that has produced for the US, so blaming him for bad fielding is a bit silly. If Griffey was riding the pine we'd have been out in the 1st Round.

This will likely change, but I'll go with this being the order of the top 12. 1 - Chris wins (60% to 40%, to give AI another male winner, and the first "rock" winner) 2 - Katharine (will do the J.O.B. because women will vote for Chris) 3 - Elliott (runs out of steam after "upsetting" Taylor to escape last week) 4 - Taylor (2nd straight "stunner") 5 - Ace (the pretty boy gets "stunned" when Elliott knocks him off) 6 - Kellie (Aww Shucks Barbie goes farther than her talent dictates) 7 - Mandisa (she doesn't have a fanbase to carry her any further) 8 - Paris (ding dong the bitch is dead, I bet she cries A LOT) 9 - Lisa (gets snuffed out by Paris when their age finally starts to work against them) 10 - Kevin (after getting embarassed for 3 weeks in a row by the judges, he finally gets sent home via "producers decision" as they don't want to risk any more criticism 11 - Melissa (Tits McGhee takes home her hot body when she easily becomes the least popular person left) 12 - Bucky (Redneck + Stevie Wonder week = a quick trip home back to ma and pa)

Savage was let go last week. You're thinking of Chicken Little... That's not just a car crash waiting to happen, that's a 20 car pileup... Will was Wonder Years era Fred Savage, Kevin is his little brother when Corey finally trimmed the brillo pad down from an afro on Boy Meet's World. Calling him Chicken Little is insulting to Chicken Little.

Alex Rodriguez is a career .305 hitter in the postseason, with a .393 OBP, six home runs. It's amazing what selective memory will do to some people. Look, this is not a game where the United States is incredibly, earth-shakingly dominant. Baseball doesn't work like that. The '98 Yankees lost 50 games, and that's perhaps the greatest team ever assembled. The U.S. team is facing a collection of pitchers they've never seen before, many with funky deliveries. And when your national team is obsessed with playing the worst fielding CF in the majors, they're going to allow some runs. Upsets happen. This is exactly the problem with running a three game round robin. I have to say though, Korea has really raised their profile in this tournament. They didn't just beat the U.S. They stunned Japan as well. Reference stats all you want, if an important game is on the line no one in their right mind wants A-Rod at the plate. He is simply NOT clutch, unless you're a Yankee hater because then he IS the man you want up to bat. By the way he's only had 2 good postseason series out of 8 he's participated in, 2000 ALCS w/SEA which they lost to the Yankees, he was 9 for 22 (.409) with 2 HR, 5 RBI 2004 ALDS w/NYY which they won over the Twins, he was 8 for 19 (.476) with 1 HR, 3 RBI Combined that's 17 for 41 (.415) with 3 HR and 8 RBI In his other 6 series, he's 19 for 77 (.247) with you guessed it 3 HR and 8 RBI That looks like vintage A-Rod where he pads his stats with a good series here and there, but never gets it done when it matters.

It's 1 per week from here to the end. I think tonight's show will suck save for Katharine, Mandisa, Elliott & Taylor. Lisa and Paris will come off as old again and the rest won't do very well with the theme. Ben Savage has GOT to go.
-
Is there a reason A-Rod got 5 chances to make outs, which he did, when they've got other guys on the team who can you know, hit in the clutch? No wonder Buck Martinez ends up on ESPN analyzing baseball instead of managing it.
-
That would be great, but I guess now we know the fruits of A-Rod's labor when he gets up at 6 AM while everyone else is sleeping or driving their kids to school. His October form is equal to that of his obvious preparation to come up clutch for the other team in March. All of the Yankees should aspire to be like A-Rod. Especially Jeter and Mo.

I think he's a closet homo. While flipping through the channels, I happened to catch one of his shows on MTV where he was wearing his grandmother's sweater to a club/bar and was called on it by a dude who harassed him, put his finger in Ashley's face and said he'd slap him. Ashley got as tough as he could, but the dude still slapped him flush on the cheek. APA's response was to throw his drink in the guy's face, just like a fabulous bitch would. The guy then called him out a second time on the street after they were all kicked out and promptly snuffed him. Ashley then stood there and let his woman fight his battle because he didn't want to break a nail. It was quite possibly the most emasculating sequence of 5-10 minutes ever shown on air, and was without question the best thing I've seen on MTV since they decided they don't do videos anymore.

So you're saying A-Rod's in postseason form in March. Awesome

Looks like the umps may have kept the US in this tourney since that questionable call saved us from a potential 0-2 start in this round and guaranteed elimination.

P.R. screwed the pooch and now have to beat an angry Cuban team who will no doubt be looking to avenge a mercy rule ass whoopin' to advance. Hopefully, Venezuela will at least eliminate the DR so that I can be happy tomorrow night.

Telfair did the right thing for one reason and one reason only, $$$$. He could have become the next Felipe Lopez had he gone to Louisville and not lived up to expectations. I think Felipe was the last "can't miss" prospect from NYC and we saw that he could in fact, and did miss in a big way. Ironically, had Felipe gone straight to the pros he would have made more money as a higher draft pick and could have gone back to get his degree 4 years later since he was out of the league that quickly anyway. Oops.

Actually if he had come up and hit a Slam, Cuba would have won 8-7 since it was the bottom of the 9th. Even more of a reason I wanted to see him have the chance to possibly end the game one way or another. I think fans of almost every team could agree that the officiating has been pretty bad all around and changed the outcome of at least one or two games thus far.
-
Yeah, but this time it's actually true.
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought he didn't go. If it's 7-4 with a .400 hitter coming up with the bags juiced, that would have been a hell of a finish to that game either way. DR deserved the victory, just not on that call.
-
Meh, it's just another reason to hate Scientologists. What would be great is if South Park retaliated to his idiocy by having an entire episode devoted to shitting on Isaac Hayes.

Cuba's cut it to 7-3 in the 9th. The ER count (to date DR 5, Cuba 4, PR 1) is helping Puerto Rico a bit since they can make it through by beating Venezuela and not giving up 4 ER to Cuba. To be fair though this game should have been over a while ago if the DR could have converted on all the walks they received early in the game.
-
PR just needs to win one game to end up at least in a 3 way tie assuming Venezuela goes 0-3. Assuming this score stands every other team would have at least one win, so it would be more beneficial for PR to beat Cuba than Venezuela, although they would effectively eliminate either by handing them their second loss. If it's a three way tie between Cuba, DR & PR. . . Cuba's already given up 4 ER so far to DR. DR's given up 0 to Cuba, but gave up 3 to Puerto Rico so even with a shut out in this game they'd still be second in that tiebreaker. PR gave up 1 ER to DR, so they're in the driver's seat especially if the Dominicans continue to beat up on Cuba. The more runs the Dominicans score, the wider a margin the Ricans have should they need it.

It's too early to celebrate when a college basketball player's eye can pop out of its socket and he is able to practice 2 or 3 days later. Until I hear that Jarrett's out for at least 3 months I don't want to get too excited.

I don't know the guy, but Carnivalisdying. . . because he slit his wrists now that TNA may not = JJJ and he lost his will to live.

Puerto Rico 7, DR 1

I just saw it, and that was about what I expected. That's pretty sad that it had to happen here though. I'm sure Selig/MLB will excuse it though.

I picked the Zags to choke as soon as the match up was shown. If Adam doesn't score 30 they can't win in the NCAA tourney. I can't wait for UConn to lose so all of the analysts can scratch their heads and wonder why the so called "lock" didn't live up to expectations.
