    OAO Smackdown Discussion 1-13-06

Mark Henry just really made Lashley look like a bitch. I don't know if that bothers me yet since I don't see anything special about Lashley except for his commitment to inject needles in his ass.

WWE to Start Another "Controversial" angle

I'm beginning to think Vince used to get beat up by a black guy as a child because he seems to saddle almost every black worker with the shittiest gimmick he can think of. Oh well, at least OJ wasn't doing much of anything anyway.

OMG, MOTY 2006 *rolls eyes* I really have no interest in Michaels/Angle yet again.

Hey, I've never taken steroids, I'm 23, and *I'M* going bald. Don't assume. Do you look like a professional body builder?
  5. How can you honestly say someone who has basically stolen $10 million dollars from Vince has done so little? Mark Henry's basically a hero of mine for all of the wrong reasons. If Vince wasn't so cheap he could have just released him, or bought out his contract. I admire Mark for having the balls to stick it out and keep collecting his checks, though he is easily one of the worst wrestlers I've ever seen.

They did it with Kane, and to a lesser extent Orton, Rock, Foley and HHH. I agree with your rule, I'm just saying that the WWE doesn't necessarily abide by it all the time.

    MOTY 2006

I personally don't think Orton could ever be involved in a MOTYC because his selling is awful. It's also a reason I don't see the love for most HBK matches. Finlay/Regal would never have the importance needed, but they have the subtle expressions and mannerisms that make a match seem better than it actually was. Orton is just so limited in terms of everything he does because he just seems to have one mode and mannerism of performing on offense and defense. I also think his in ring psychology/being able to tell a story during a match is practically nil. Benoit beating on him for 20+ minutes but not being able to put him away, as a means of putting over how badly Orton wants to win is the only way I could see those two putting on something that would be remembered fondly (and for the right reasons) since a guy like Benoit won't give Orton a meaningless thumbtack spot to rely on. My guess is HBK/Angle since most fans seem to think they can do no wrong, and Benjamin & Benoit likely won't have the opportunity needed to pull off a legitimate MOTY given their circumstances.

    Smackdown Spoilers

My guess is that the WWE is going about this in the exact same way that they hotshotted the WHC on him right after he dropped the IC title with next to no build up. I'm guessing that they'll worry about his credibility AFTER they put the title on him, instead of before since well that's the logical way to do things, and they seem pretty averse to that.
  9. Source: wwe.com Not really a surprise, though I'm shocked he lasted as long as he did. What an idiot.
  10. Do you really think they would change the Rumble winner this close to the event when there's no one that's "on fire" on either show right now? I just can't get excited about Orton doing the Rumble/'Mania double as a heel, and all of the assumed matches are pretty lackluster. They have time to make the show interesting, but I can see what the OP was getting at.

So do you think USC would've had a better chance if they gave Bush the rock? I think Bush was silenced for the most part except for the stupid lateral play, his TD run and the next to last play of the game. LenDale was the horse to ride, it was just some bad coaching by Carroll and a lot of mental mistakes that cost USC the game. There's no excuse for blowing a 12 point lead with about 6 1/2 minutes or so left in the game.

Vick has great God given ability, as he's the best running back ever to play QB, but his decision making sucks. He's a winner for the most part, but not a championship caliber QB and most importantly his greatest weapon exposes him to injury far more frequently than necessary. Back to Vince, I've never seen him think his way out of a bad situation, he just has the speed to outrun collegiate D-Linemen and horribly out of place LB's. He lowered his shoulder going into a handful of tackles tonight in situations he didn't need to since he wasn't going for the goal line or the yardsticks, and if he tries that in the NFL he'll spend a lot of time on IR when 300+ pounders chase him down from behind and the Lewis' and Urlacher's of the world actually get clean shots on him. I wouldn't take Leinart over Young unless I had a great line because Leinart is a next generation Drew Bledsoe when it comes to a lack of mobility. He'd get murdered at the pro level. Young could end up being better than Vick, but that also means he's a dangerous pick since he's more likely to get hurt scrambling and his throwing motion is not good for the NFL.

    1) Throwing it at all when up 5. 2) Running on 4th and 2 at midfield when a punt pins them inside the 10, or at worst the 20. 3) Sending a blitz and using prevent D on 4th and 5 allowing Vince to walk into the end zone from the 9. 4) Calling your last fucking timeout to stop a 2-point conversion that had no bearing on the fact you needed a FG either way. 5) Leinart wasting the last 8 seconds instead of just throwing the ball into the dirt. I can't think of what the dumbest move was there, and that doesn't even touch on Bush's idiocy in the first half. Props to Texas, but it was like USC didn't want to win this game and did everything they could to ensure that happened.

That is either the greatest comeback or greatest tank job I've ever seen. I can't tell just yet. Kudos to Vince Young for carrying his team to greatness, and I want to see FireCarroll.com in the morning.

Only Pete Carroll would think it's important to waste a timeout when you're gonna be trailing regardless. What a fucking douche.

I think it was a bad move too, even if USC stopped them it's better to be down 8 and show some confidence in the offense than trail by 5 and still need a stop and a TD to take the lead anyway. Ah well, LenDale will just shove the ball down their throats put 'em up 12 and end the game on this next drive.

If he was in the endzone that would've been enough to be a TD though, that's such bullshit. No, it wouldn't have. An incompletion is an incompletion. The ball hit him in the chest, he had both hands on it and then got stripped. To me that's a completion. It's irrelevant though because the refs blew the call.

That was a catch and fumble, SC's ball unless they're retarded up in the booth.

I think Young will get cute, try to do too much and either throw an on the run pick or fumble trying to make something out of nothing, SC will then just pound White in the middle and score again. The Texas 'D' hasn't done much except that one sensational pick in the endzone and benefit from a stupid lateral attempt by Reggie, or this would've already been a blowout.
