    NFL Week Four

Another undefeated bites the dust and my homer pick is still alive to be the last one standing.

I hope the Steelers blow out the Ravens tonight and then lose every other game this season except the rematch.

I didn't know Endy Chavez played for the White Sox. Ramirez looks a lot like him except he has power. He absolutely crushed that ball.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

94 Democrats voted against it as well. Where's the vitriol for them? Seems like neither party's members were completely satisfied about this bill. The people asking for the bailout are members of the failed Republican administration. The House Republicans are saying the Dems could just force the bill through, but then they would block it up in the Senate. The Republicans who are causing all of the problems don't want to lose their seats in November and that's why they're against it. It has nothing to do with principles. The Democrats don't have nearly as much to lose or gain here politically which is why roughly 2/3 of them voted for it while roughly 2/3 of Republicans voted against it.

Fear not. The Tigers will throw the ball around the field and allow you to tie it. It's similar to the way they gift wrapped a WS title for the Cards two years ago.

Eric Smith was suspended for a game and fined $50,000 for attempting to kill Anquan Boldin yesterday.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

Some Republican douchebag on CNBC is saying that he voted against the bill because he's not comfortable with leaving his "daughter with a historic amount of debt". Every other sentence was "fiscal conservative", or "the Democrats could pass this without our support but didn't, but I'm not trying to politicize this". The analysts kept explaining to him that his daughter was part of the economy that is pretty close to seizing up, but all he kept doing was replying with spin, spin and more spin. At the end of the segment he said that he was optimistic about something getting done by Thursday, but his whole argument was that he's ideologically opposed to leaving his daughter with debt. Now how is a deal going to get done with three days of Jewish holidays coming up and an entire voting bloc being fundamentally against what the proposal is all about in the first place? The economy is going to tank violently over the rest of this week and I'm sure that the average person out there who is against this is going to be THRILLED when they lose their jobs/can't find jobs, can't get credit or essentially lose the majority of their life savings because they're opposed to a couple of rich bastards getting bailed out. Only in America will we gladly cut off everyone's noses to spite our own faces.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

The best part of the near 778 point drop was that it followed people on CNN last night claiming that the market was about to turn around and that some major deals were probably going to get done since we were on the right track. The House Republicans just took it to the average American with a nightstick and no lube. Gotta love politicians trying to get re-elected instead of helping out the people who elected them in the first place. This shit is awesome.

    NFL Week Four

That's amazing because that was one of the most frightening hits I've ever seen. That's got to be a horrifying feeling. The kid was 3 months old. Didn't Jurevicius' kid die while he was on the Bucs too? That's got to be hard to deal with for the organization considering there's probably a few guys on the team who went through it once already.

    NFL Week Four

I hope not. I actually like the fact that with the exception of Plax there aren't many (potential) idiots on the team anymore. I just don't remember any championship team ever being so completely overlooked because of another team in their division, especially when the champs won at that other team's house in the prior postseason. I don't think the Giants will win the division, but being 3-0 and a 1/2 game in front is a great start to the season. If they can get to 6-0 then they just need a .500 finish to get a WC which is what I was hoping for before the season began.

Did the Giants lose during the bye week or are you just disrespecting the champs? Did the league not learn their lesson last year?

Assuming first place in the NFC East while on a bye is pretty nice. That win over the Redskins looks more impressive now.

Yeah because the team was doing SO well under Willie. They had a sub .500 record when he got the boot 69 games too late. He should have been fired last year. Manuel probably wouldn't have led the team to the postseason but Willie was an awful manager who didn't inspire anyone with his "well we played hard so I'm sure things will turn around eventually, 'cause tomorrow's another day" bullshit from the Isiah Thomas school of postgame interviews. I'd LOVE to see you guys replace Girardi with him just so your streak of missing the postseason can last a while.

    The College Football Thread 9/25 - 9/27

Preseason polls had LSU ranked higher and God forbid we make sensible adjustments to the rankings instead of just sliding teams up based on who lost above them. When Alabama finally loses I wouldn't be shocked if Georgia ended up ahead of them unless they lose a second game in the meantime.

Why don't you become a Yankee fan? Since we didn't make the playoffs this year, I won't call you a bandwagoner. Rooting for the Yankees is perhaps the only thing in baseball that I still think is worse than rooting for the Mets. I only really support teams from my city so I'm just done with baseball once this year's AL playoffs are over. Anyway, congrats to the Brewers for showing some guts and finishing the season strong.

If Boldin survived that hit without paralysis or a broken neck I'd be stunned. That guy on the Jets needs to be fined if not suspended for a game for taking a 10 or so yard running headstart into a leaping helmet to helmet spear with no intent of trying to go after the ball. Considering the team was up by 21 with less than 30 seconds to go it was just completely unnecessary to try and kill a guy, but I'm sure some people will spin it as showing hustle or not giving up on a play.

If the Giants hadn't won the SB last year this would have been a wrist slittingly disastrous end to a 3rd consecutive season. I'm just done with the Mets. I'll leave my fandom at the bottom of the rubble when they blow up Shea. It'll be nice not to invest 6 months into the Groundhog Day cycle where every year amazingly ends up worse than the one before it.

Alabama should be # 1 but they won't get it which is why the preseason polls suck.

McCain lost that in my mind, and apparently the minds of most of the people in the CNN survey(s).

    This Week In Baseball: 9/22-9/30

A good team can win 6 of the final 10 and mathematically eliminate everyone chasing them for the WC when only 4 of those games are against playoff teams and the last SEVEN are at home. The Mets on the other hand have gone 3-5 and now possibly won't get in even if they end up winning the last two. This is the same team that found a way to complete the greatest collapse in the sport last year. The bullpen isn't responsible for them losing a bunch of games to the dregs of the division although if we had an adequate bullpen we would have 100 wins by now. They had men on 3rd and no out in 3 straight innings a couple of nights ago and couldn't lift a ball to the outfield, they got shut out by Odalis Perez and tonight they left another small village on base in the first two innings when the game was still in play. Even A-Rod laughs at the Mets and their inability to get a clutch hit/sac fly. They need to get rid of Minaya and blow up the team already. The window is closed and it all started with Yadier Molina beating us in the 2006 NLCS. Only the Mets would find a way to lose that game after the Endy catch and considering the way the Tigers rolled over in the WS it was probably our best chance to win the championship since the late '80s.

You do realize that even if they win them both that doesn't guarantee them a spot in the playoffs as long as the Brewers win because we choked away a 3 1/2 game lead in about 2 weeks? Two years in a row of the same bullshit means I'm not coming back for a third with the same bunch of punks and chokers in a shiny new stadium. This team has no heart and still almost won 90 games which means that adding talent doesn't matter. They will ALWAYS find a way to lose.
