I'd say Bolt simply because he looks like he's jogging to blowout victories. If he sets the WR in the 200 as easily as he did the 100 he'll be one of the greatest sprinters ever at just 21.
-
Why should he might as well go? Does he have a make-up pick that I don't know about? Since you're on top of this, where exactly are we in the order?
-
Scratch that.
-
Is it my turn? I'm confused because Broward picked ahead of a lot of people that should have been ahead of him unless he was making a make up selection, and I have no clue where we are in the order.

It's called a Designated Player because they can sub them in to play defense (har har in Crystal's case). I saw Bustos play 3B one time, and she could pretty much do nothing but block balls with her girth and then GUN it across the infield. She doesn't play defense because she can't move laterally or cover a bunt, but she can hit the ball 300+ feet on pretty much any swing so she'll always have a spot on the team.

The most moronic part of her play today was that if Ollie or April were to win the veto she wouldn't be able to get either one of them out of the house. She couldn't even guarantee that Jerry would go at that point, and if April gets off of the block she WILL be gunning for Renny next. Considering that Renny can't win the next HoH this was perhaps the dumbest move in a season full of dumb moves. If she was going to play this poorly she should have just thrown the HoH competition to Keesha who would have played it properly and kept the bullseye off of Renny. For someone who was trying to limit the amount of potential enemies she'd have after this week she's done a horrible job since Ollie will be pissed if April goes, April will be pissed if she stays, Memphis, Dan & Michelle are annoyed she asked them to possibly be pawns and Jerry will be out for revenge if he stays. I think Renny did better being wallpaper, because a little bit of power completely fucked up her chances at winning the money.

I was hoping she'd just give him an electric chair and take both belts.

Oops, I thought CC was pitching today. Anyway, Braun just hit a 2 run bomb with two out in the 9th. The Brewers were down 5-1 heading into the inning and it's now tied at 5. EDIT: And Ethier wins it with a 2 run bomb in the bottom of the 9th. Nice.

Billy Wagner is a great example actually. Fourth in the NL this year in saves. Third among active pitchers, sixth all time. You do not think Wagner is a great closer. Yet he has all these saves? It seems either Wagner really is a good closer, or the save statistic does not tell the whole story. Honestly though, do you need the save statistic to tell you if a pitcher is blowing games? I don't think the save is the greatest statistic, or even a necessary one, but I'd be the first to petition for a statue of Billy Wagner if he saved 60 games in a season and only blew 5. The Mets have been AWFUL this season after the 7th inning and he's cost us quite a few games with big leads. Wagner is no more trustworthy than Benitez or Looper was before him but he's getting paid twice as much which is what is so infuriating.

So you approved of the Billy Taylor trade? Yeah, and I was responsible for Kazmir/Zambrano too. I thought they were offering CARLOS, my bad!

I think his point was that the race would have been live at 8 PM on the West coast and instead they probably won't get to see it until 11 PM their time, which is 3 hours after the fact despite it falling in the Olympic coverage window. The East coast was pretty lucky that Beijing catered to us quite a bit with all of the swimming and gymnastics finals happening in the prime time to midnight slot basically. The only race we didn't get live in prime time so far was the men's 100 meter on the track.
-
I guess maybe that's why I don't appreciate the magnificence of Billy Wagner. Blowing games is insignificant if you have great peripherals. Whatever, it's not even worth arguing about since my team's bullpen has sucked for at least a decade regardless of who has been a part of it.

Live on NBC. They showed Women's marathon, then Dara Torres x2, the 1500 men's freestyle and then Phelps with the 100 meter track semis and final interspersed in between. I think it was the weakest night of coverage since they spent about 2 1/2 hours showing the marathon and it wasn't close from about the midway point to the finish. Surely they had some other event they could have squeezed in at some point between 7:30 and 10:03.

Again, if those stats are so meaningless why do GMs pay so much for guys who put up high numbers in those categories? I'm all for baseball reducing the importance of certain stats, but it just seems silly to act like a guy who routinely executes when given opportunities shouldn't be recognized for it.
-
If saves don't matter than why do relievers make as much money as they do? As a Mets fan, I've seen enough blown saves in the last 10 years to fully appreciate what K-Rod is doing. The 3 run save is overrated, but I don't see any reason to act like it's a stat that has no real meaning.

What's even crazier is that the 200 is his best event and he just started running the 100 recently. If he ever learns how to get out of the blocks well, he'd run in the 9.4 range.
-
I can't believe this is an Olympic event. It makes me laugh every time I see these people looking borderline handicap as they try to run without running.
-
Cliff Lee is now 17-2 on a team that is 55-66, so he's +15 while the rest of his team is -26. Has there ever been a greater differential for a single pitcher in relation to his team?
-
The 50 meter freestyle is my favorite race of all of the swims. Did that Brazilian dude breathe in that whole race? The replay they just showed had him with his head down for about 8 strokes.

The underwater cam caught it clearly, Phelps touched an instant before Cavic. How can an underwater cam clearly show one guy touch the wall one one hundredth of a second faster than another when the cam from the side of the pool is 4 or 5 lanes away? Maybe it's the angle but I just didn't see Phelps touch first. With Lezak/Bernard you could see it but that had 7 times the gap that this one did. I'm sure I'll get a few thousand more looks at it by next week though so maybe I'm just not seeing the separation between both hands touching.
-
I know he's Captain America and all that, but I'm not convinced Phelps actually won that race unless Cavic didn't touch the sensor box or whatever that black thing underwater is.
-
Every replay they've shown since the race ended made it look like Cavic got there first.

Similar to my last pick this guy isn't a great worker, but his size and gimmick will fit in well with my roster. I may align him with Kid Kash but I haven't yet decided. My next pick is Lance Hoyt/Dallas.

Melky Cabrera to the minors, and Richie Sexson got waived by the Yankees.

Francesca is basically doing his "sad voice" discussing why the split happened, but it's so fake because he's been patting himself on the back the whole time. I guess I'll have to start listening to ESPN on 1050.
