The Rays just won in 11 to tie their franchise high of 70 wins.
-
That makes even LESS sense since Tampa Bay is 3 games ahead of Boston, or 13 games ahead of you. At 69-46 if the Rays go 23-24 they finish with 92 wins. Baltimore is not going 37-10 down the stretch. I don't think you understand how math works if you think Boston beating NY, TB or Toronto helps you when them potentially catching the division leader opens up an even bigger deficit for your team.
-
I never said it was a good thing, but I dont see them as being out of it. They have 47 games left with, the TB rainout doubleheader and the conclusion of the suspended White Sox game. I still contend that the 25 games they have left vs the AL East, 3 teams of which are the contenders for the Wild Card will help them or hurt them depending on how they play those games, and they have played well so far vs NY (7-5) and Boston (5-7) this year so its not crazy to think that they can make up some quick ground directly through beating them. 67-50 Boston 64-51 Chi. White Sox 63-54 N.Y. Yankees 60-58 Texas 59-58 Toronto 57-59 Detroit 56-59 Baltimore Even if we take the FIVE teams between you and the Wild Card slot and say that they will all suck, which is impossible since the entire AL East is in this scenario, there's not a chance in hell Baltimore makes a run at the postseason. With 45 games left, if Boston goes a pathetic 22-23 they finish with 89 wins. For Baltimore to get to 90, they'd need to go 34-13 aka play .723 ball for more than a quarter of the season. This is the same Baltimore team that isn't .500 right now. Even If Boston tanks down the stretch then they will be losing to the Yankees and Toronto which means you still can't gain ground on teams that are ahead of you. I don't know why I bothered typing this out since anyone with an objective bone in their body knows that a team 10 games out and in SEVENTH place in the WC standings is not going to make it to the playoffs.

I would love to live in a world where being "only" 10 games out of playoff contention with 45 to go was a good thing.
-
This thing has been AWESOME and I'm only 10 minutes in.
-
I selected a trio last time I had a pick, and now I'll give them someone to face as I'll be selecting Los Barrio Boys (Alan, Billy Boy & Decniss). Since I already have Billy Boy's wife on the roster (Faby Apache) this was a pretty easy pick.

Unfortunately there are douchbags in each new alliance ( that were together prior) Keesha , Libra. April, Jerry, Ollie The only people left in the game that I don't think are douchebags are Michelle, Memphis, Dan & Renny. And unless my math is wrong those are the only four people left that you didn't mention either
-
Trevor Titman? I figured it was a joke just based off of that.
-
Finally the alliance of douchebags will have to suffer. Better late than never I guess, but I just hope that this is the turning point in the game and not just a single blip on what has otherwise been an abysmal season to watch from a fan standpoint.

WrestleMania XX. Two of my favorite wrestlers of all time, celebrating at MSG. It's crazy to think they'd both be dead about 3 years later.
-
I'd give up Sting for Eddie Guerrero, who was still on the board when I picked.

Jets fans are getting delirious already. There are a few already mapping out possibilities that the Jets could win the division, or at the very least win a Wild Card and then duplicate what the Giants did last year. It's gonna be awesome hearing them bitch and complain when they still finish at least 2 games out of a postseason spot after spending about $100 million on acquisitions and a 3rd round draft pick on Favre.
-
I think the only plot twist left is ESPN Breaking News: Brett Favre traded to the Vikings OR Brett Favre to retire . . . AGAIN
-
I do believe I'm being skipped now since I picked three members of The Black Family last time, so HTQ should be up next.

Padres/Mets recap 1st pitch, Gerut hits a bomb to right. Pedro gets the next hitter out, but then gets taken off the scoreboard by Giles. It's going to be a long night.
-
Well Ollie's been banging one of the main headcases in the house, and her primary ally is the other one that seems to cause a lot of problems. Once they get rid of Michelle, Jessie and Memphis he's going to be one of the first people on the chopping block because of his strength and Keesha will go up because April & Libra can't wait to send her packing. It's amazing that Renny, Jerry and Dan will all be able to coast into the top 8, if not further, after the massive errors they made in the 1st week.

ESPN Breaking News: The Brett Favre travelling road show is likely headed to Tampa Bay with an official announcement possibly coming later today according to the Tampa Tribune.

Wagner to the 15 day DL, retroactive to Sunday and Joba's going to see Dr. James Andrews about his shoulder.

This Mike McCarthy press conference makes Brett sound like a scorned lover. How many questions are they going to ask him before they realize he's not going to share any info worth knowing? What a complete and utter waste of time.
-
Just release this fucker and let him go to the Vikings already. I don't care that Favre is killing Green Bay's season anymore because I'm so tired of hearing minute by minute updates of what he's doing. I didn't think anyone could ever hope to surpass Clemens's douchiness but Brett has now lapped the field on that one.
-
The way I took it was that whoever recorded the pin or submission would win both belts for himself/herself, which means either Beth or Santino has to win the match for that to make any sense. There seems to be a lot of debate on the exact wording of what Adamle said though, and I think that's intentional.

That would be great if it was anyone other than JBL playing the role of the rub giver. I don't think there are too many casual fans thinking "man if Punk beats JBL, then he'll finally have earned his spot!". I'd assume most of them are thinking, "I hope he knees JBL in the face and then goes on to face someone better/more important". Even if JBL loses cleanly, I don't think that really makes Punk look like he's on a higher level if and when he goes on to face a Cena or Batista or anyone of real significance to the fans. They'll still be playing the same basic storyline out until Punk cleanly beats a "name" as champ or turns heel because no matter how many people he beat he still didn't get the respect he feels he deserves.
-
How is beating JBL going to be a huge boost to anyone's credibility? He already beat JBL with Cena's non physical interference. JBL's whole thing is that Punk is a paper champion and then he earned his second title shot by falling backward onto a guy. Unless Punk hits JBL with a GTS inside of a minute that match is going to be booked to make JBL look like he blew his shot and that Punk still had no legit claim to being champion. At this point I wouldn't be shocked to see Kane run interference to protect JBL and keep Punk's streak of "he wouldn't have won if Wrestler X hadn't saved him from taking his opponent's finisher" matches intact.

The latest ESPN retarded discussion point on SportsCenter was "Joba Chamberlain: Cy Young candidate?" He's got a 2.24 ERA, but he's only 4-3 with 84.1 IP. The 99K's are great but his WHIP is over 1.2 and he is neither the most dominant starter or reliever in the AL this year. Even if he wins 10 of his remaining starts that gets him to 14 wins and at best 150-160 IP which is what Lee, Burnett, Halladay, Saunders, Mussina and Matsuzaka have already posted this season for the most part and K-Rod will probably end up saving close to, if not more than, 60 games. I hate how ESPN loves to present arguments based on nothing.

So you think turning Cena heel will make his opponent a "mega face", but how exactly is that going to work? Having Cena go heel will do exactly the opposite of what you think because you yourself admit that if he turned heel, you might like him for the first time. The vast majority of the people booing Cena as a face would end up cheering him as a heel and then you'd have exactly the same dynamic where half the fans love him and half the fans hate him. So what's the point in changing things up if you're going to end up with the same result?
