This is a serious question, did Bobby Abreu ever run into a wall in the outfield and get hurt badly as a result of it? Every time a ball is hit anywhere near the fence it's like he wants no part of it, even if the ball lands a good 5 or 10 feet shy of the wall. I've never seen another outfielder so reluctant to go after balls that could be caught fairly easily. I'm not saying that he should be Aaron Rowand or Ken Griffey Jr., but you'd think the fence was electrified the way he runs away from it.

So. Much. Anger. Getting rid of $48 million over 3 yrs today is better than hoping Zach is productive this year and then dumping him at $33 million over 2 years next season. Even if he is really productive how do you justify getting rid of him next offseason if he's going to end up being your best player? If you have a chance to get LeBron, Randolph won't be here anyway. I just don't get this team at all.

According to Mike and the Mad Dog, Favre just asked for his release. What a douchebag.

Burrell .279/.412/.581 21 2B, 2 3B, 22 HR, 54 RBI, 48 R, 84 H, 69 BB, 175 TB Wright .288/.386/.511 24 2B, 2 3B, 17 HR, 70 RBI, 59 R, 102 H, 58 BB, 181 TB Burrell has a better OBP, SLG, OPS, more HR and BB Wright has a better BA, more 2B, RBI, R, H and TB It's pretty close, but I think Wright is clearly the best hitter on his team while Burrell isn't, and since the game is in NY he's the easier choice.

David Wright ended up making the AS team as he'll be replacing Soriano on the roster.

I decided I wanted a heel that could pretty much work with any of my undercard types and also cut a good promo. My next pick is Doug Basham, more specifically from his time in OVW as 'The Machine'.

Considering that they could/should have cut bait on him last year, I don't see the benefit of doing it now especially when they've already lost two of their starters. This is looking like a team that will struggle to win 20 games next season at this point. If Josh Smith goes there he's a moron because Atlanta is a playoff team while the Clips will be picking in the top 5 next year and the year after that and the one after that.
-
I just read that the Clippers renounced their rights to Livingston too. Baron Davis must be thrilled about his decision to leave the Warriors.
-
If anything I think what Brand did was actually worse because he essentially destroyed the Clips by agreeing to opt out so that the team could sign Baron, then when they did he bailed on them for about the same money, and then Maggette left right afterwards. Had Brand not opted out, the team would be in a much better position. What's up with the Dukies not being loyal to their word on these things?

He pitched 7 innings in 7 games, one of which came in a 9 run deficit, two outings were with 3 run leads, 3 others came with two run leads and he pitched one game with a one run lead. So he pitched in a grand total of one tight game since his last blown save, and blew another two run lead today against the division leading Mets' daddy Phillies. Wagner comes up small whenever the Mets NEED him to close out a win, and he loves to blow the few amazing performances our starters have given us with "unlucky" pitches. How come those three games with two run leads don't count and this one does? The problem is that fans have this mindset, usually with superstars but often with all closers, that they must come through in EVERY situation. Baseball is a competition. Across from the pitcher is a talented hitter, and vice versa. Jayson Werth is a very good hitter with a .500+ slugging percentage career against lefties. Because Wagner doesn't routinely blow the rare one run lead he is asked to protect, although he's only 3 for 5 in converting those situations. We went through this same argument last month when you claimed he was "unlucky" when he blew 2, 3 and 2 run leads in three consecutive appearances. Getting tagged for a solo homer is unlucky if you throw a great pitch and the guy makes contact. Putting men on base and then giving up the game tying homer, double, whatever has nothing to do with a bad pitch, or a "tip your cap" moment to the hitter.

It's quite appropriate that Blown Save Billy shits the bed on the day he's announced as the Mets sole representative on the AS team. He's one or two more devastating chokes away from reaching the rarified air of the lack of confidence we had when Mel Rojas, Braden Looper or Armando Benitez was the closer.

I'm fairly sure this will be my last tag team and I'm glad I was able to wait this long to take them as I secured some other needs in the last few rounds. I haven't yet decided if I'll use them as faces or heels but think they're just about as effective either way. My next pick is Andy Douglas & Chase Stevens aka The Naturals.

The Red Sox just got hosed there. Coco Crisp caught that ball, and the moronic 3rd base ump called it a trap. It was obvious even before the replay, which is why I hate when pundits go on and on about how good having a "human element" to a game is when the technology is there to get things correct.

It's nice that he "gave back $ 16 million", but I think the Wizards will end up regretting this deal by year 4, if not sooner, since I just don't see him ever getting back to the level he was at before.

I don't see too much in the way of singles competitors that I want now, so I'll take a team that had the WWE's third longest individual reign as World Tag Team Champions, the second longest combined reign and I'll also get to screw up a few people in the supplemental draft at the same time. They were also the first team to hold the titles twice, as well as three times. My next pick is Mr. Fuji & Professor (Toru) Tanaka.

The hit and run was bad enough with Varitek batting, it was downright retarded with Mike Lowell running.

What kind of bizarro world is this where the Rays are the best team in baseball heading into July 4th weekend?
-
I hope Arenas doesn't become Allan Houston for the Wizards. Also, CP3 is close to a 4 or 5 yr extension worth between $60 and 80 million.
-
The problem is that MLB doesn't even try to establish the "little guys". The only times you'll see the Rays or teams of that stature is if they're playing a NY, Chicago, Boston or LA based team. The same applies with the teams that play on the West Coast in that you'll only get those teams if there's a national doubleheader taking place and ESPN decides to air a 10 PM EST start or Fox has a 4 PM Saturday game. The NFL plays by the same rules, especially with the flex schedule thing they recently adopted. They also have the inherent advantage of being the only major US sport that goes by a one and done postseason. If the baseball, basketball or hockey playoffs were single elimination the ratings would be almost surely be higher, but they could never get away with that.
-
He was talking about baseball's bottom line, which is true. A Rays vs anyone but maybe the Cubs WS would not draw much interest nationally. I think people only love an underdog when the underdog is a collegiate team or from a big city who wasn't expected to be there. If everyone in Tampa watched the games it still wouldn't do much ratings wise.

I don't see JBL nearly bleeding to death and bringing his A+++++++ game tonight to get someone else over, so in a word, no.

It's been 8 hours so I'm up. I was thinking about going with an extra tag team here, but the one I have in mind can probably survive another round or two, so I'll select a woman to give Lita someone to work with. I'm going to pick Victoria, and I'll go with the psycho one that used to come out to that t.A.T.u song and gave Stevie Richards a reason to live. Along with Molly Holly is one of the most criminally underused "divas" ever.

NINE RBI for Delgado today. Dayum!
