Kobe just gave a "beat him to the spot" Williams a forearm shiver to the face and that's a blocking foul. I give up.
-
The Lakers are looking like the Lakers again now that Kobe isn't gimping his way up and down the floor. I know that he won't be back this season, but what's up with Bynum? The new slogan for the league should be "NBA action is floptastic!" I've never seen so many 225+ pound people fly backwards at the slightest bit of contact.

If the foul goes against LeBron, the Celts can cut it to a one possession game from the line. If it's a no call, then it's side out to Boston. Instead, the Cavs get the ball back on a turnover and ice the game from there. They didn't win the game on that call, but it certainly sealed it for them.

You don't have to be stationary to get a charge called. That is a big misconception by alot of people. Its not about seeing what I want to see. Its about what happened. Pierce jumped INTO the player after he got stripped clean. He tried to flop and flopped in the wrong direction. Might have been a no call, except there was a loose ball when Pierce jumped into Lebron, thus it was a foul. Put it this way, if Pierce had been on defense and LeBron on offense they would have called the same play a blocking foul on Pierce. I don't think anyone would argue that which is why it's a bad call. If anything it should have been a no call given that it essentially handed the Cavs the game there.

LeBron with the game winning flop there.

I had a really hard time deciding between which member of Run TMC I wanted. I knew I wouldn't be able to get them both and I had even put in all of Tim's info then decided I'd rather have the better shooter for this particular team.

I decided to look for a 6th man who could provide me with some instant offense, so I'll go with the guy with the most points scored that hasn't been drafted yet. Mitch Richmond 1989 Rookie of the Year 1995 All-Star Game MVP 5x All-NBA Selection 6x NBA All-Star (1993-1998) 20,497 points scored

Walt Bellamy NBA Hall of Fame (1993) NBA Rookie of the Year (1962, where he led the league in shooting at .519 and averaged career highs of 31.6 PPG & 19.0 RPG) 4x NBA All-Star (1962-1965) Gold Medal winner (1960) 20,941 points scored 14,241 rebounds (10th all time, 8th in RPG, 13.7)

7th and 8th grades were the two worst years of my life because I went from a public school in an urban environment where I was pretty much just like everyone else (except for the fact that I had the highest grades) to an elitist private school full of people who were nothing like me. On top of that, the campus was 75-90 minutes away from where I lived so I had to be up at 6 to make an 8:30 class and got home at 4 on an early day since we got out at 2:30 on Fridays, 3:10 on Tues/Weds and 3:40 on Mon/Thurs. So between the three hours or so spent going to and from school, the 6-7 hours of mindnumbing torture that was my schedule and the minimum of 2-3 hours of homework every night, I pretty much grew to hate everyone and everything in my life at that point. By high school (which I also did there because I didn't want to transfer and have to start over with a new set of rich, snobby assholes) I was numbed to the point that I honestly don't remember too much about those 4 years except tearing up my knee and breaking my wrist in separate basketball injuries. Looking back on it, if I had just gone to the school my parents wanted me to go to I probably would have enjoyed the ages of 12 to 18 a lot more, I'd have gone straight to college and I'd probably be making at least $75,000/year by now, but I'd also probably be bald(ing), have high blood pressure and ulcers because I'd have gone straight to Wall Street and become the kind of guy that I absolutely hate now. I guess 6 years of a shitty experience on the front end kind of evens things out in the end because 22 to death is a hell of a lot longer to be miserable, and I know that I was on the fast track to that kind of life because everyone I knew was pushing me in that direction from the time I was about 9 or 10.

I didn't get to see the majority of the 4th Quarter since my cable feed has been cutting in and out for the last 30 minutes or so, but I did see Gasol get away with a push off on the bucket that sealed the deal. That kind of play just reminds me of the fact that you should always force the refs to make a call down the stretch because 9 times out of 10 they won't.
-
I have a feeling the Lakers are going to lose this quarter and then game 6 as well.

I didn't say that it would make my team better or that it should be factored in when evaluating my team. I simply said I picked him over KJ because their best seasons are about equal, but Paul's just coming into his prime and could get better. It was just my rationale for not picking a guy who put up monster numbers for 6-8 seasons in a row relative to a guy who has only been in the league 3 years and is probably just scratching the surface of his talent level. It's along the same lines of the Isiah/Stockton debate in this thread where the guy who selected Stockton did so (partly) because of his career numbers whereas the Isiah pick was made moreso due to what he did in his best year(s).
-
I drafted Paul instead of KJ just because I think CP3 can get even better than he was this year. If we were going on careers instead of primes, I would have gone the other way. I was tempted by the Olajuwon posterizing but figured Paul would be able to make Kobe happier and could throw up a few hundred lobs to Howard the way he does to Tyson Chandler.

Was Siren the only gladiator who didn't compete in either episode?
-
Does anyone have a clue why it seems like everyone in the media is calling him D'Antonio all of a sudden? I've heard that mistake at least 40 times since the Suns were eliminated and never once before that.
-
These two episodes were better than almost all of last season. I just wish the Air Force chick had lost because she's annoying. I like the newer events and the one legged guy finishing up the murderous Eliminator was a good way to end the opening night.

All-NBA Defensive 1st Team G Kobe Bryant G Bruce Bowen (?) C Marcus Camby F Tim Duncan F Kevin Garnett All-NBA Defensive 2nd Team G Raja Bell G Chris Paul C Dwight Howard F Shane Battier F Tayshaun Prince I'd have put Paul on the 1st team since Bowen is just too dirty to be honored for his "defense".
-
Most of the guys he's being compared to have been taken and looking at his numbers from this year I can't find else anyone who has a better one. Chris Paul 2006 NBA Rookie of the Year All-NBA 1st Team Selection (2008) NBA All-Star (2008) Led the league in assists (2008) Led the league in total steals (2006 & 2008)
-
I was waiting to see when/if the old Kobe would show up in the playoffs and he did tonight. He basically shot them out of the game in OT.
-
I don't understand NBA officials anymore. Turiaf hits a guy 50 pounds or so lighter across the arm and that's an ejection/Flagrant 2. Guys intentionally clothesline/horse collar players and get flagrant 1's. Watching the playoffs is an exercise in frustration.
-
This might be a reach here, but I think at the end of his career he'll be viewed as one of the best big men to play the game and his peak will match up with anyone's given the lack of dominant big men these days. Dwight Howard 2x All-NBA Selection (1st team this year) 2x NBA All-Star (2007 & 2008) 2008 NBA Slam Dunk Champion Led the league in total rebounds the last 3 years Has never missed a game in his NBA career

I'm here now so if the PM'd pick comes in we can get this thing moving.

Horrible job by the Magic today.
-
I hope the Dolans are OK with that. Had they done that after the Layden era we'd be in good shape now instead of stuck with a roster that has guys who are limited at what they can do because we've traded one bad contract for 2 or 3 others repeatedly for the last 5+ years. If the team is going to suck with us trying to improve it, let it REALLY suck, get rid of the bad deals, and start over again in 2-3 years. The perpetual cycle of being in salary cap hell with a lousy 25-35 wins a year isn't cutting it.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/bask...f=si_topstories Apparently D'Antoni took the Knicks job (4 yrs for $24 million). I don't like that decision at all considering our roster doesn't have his kind of players.
