    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

If the Suns gets swept I'm sure you could have made a ton of money betting that Atlanta would win more games in this postseason than Phoenix.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

I think he's still their most valuable because the Spurs would be horrible if he missed a long stretch of a season, but when it comes to being their best player I'd say that you could make an argument for either Parker or Ginobili being better this year. But they could survive if Parker or Manu got hurt for a while, without Duncan they're just horrid on the front line, there's no need to defend the big on the pick and roll and Parker or Manu would get doubled on almost every possession. They'd be a defensive version of the Nuggets or Warriors trying to win by having the backcourt put up 60 which just doesn't happen consistently in the playoffs.

I'm loving the Suns getting pistol whipped and booed at home tonight. If both they and the Pistons go out in the 1st round I'll be ecstatic.

Looks like TMac's pulling his 4th Quarter Houdini act again. Edit: I may have spoken too soon.

That's the hardest I've ever seen Joba get hit in one game. I did miss the infamous bug game though so I can't tell if that one was worse.

Sosa has a chance at # 3 right now. Trying to watch a broadcast from this stadium sucks almost as much as this game does for a Mets fan. Ugh.

    The NBA Offseason Thread

Shawn Bradley was still getting paid by the Mavs? That's ridiculous.

Thomas is headed back to Oakland for $337,000 (prorated share of the league minimum). Sounds like a win/win for both parties. If he can't hit they didn't pay much for him, and if he can he might be able to latch on somewhere else next year.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

I'm hoping that the 0-2 down teams can win at least a handful of the games at their places otherwise this first round will have really sucked after all of the hype.

This is looking like the kind of game where Kobe scores 45+ and the Lakers lose.

Why are the overhead and down the line cams in Washington so far away? It's almost like they gave someone with the shittiest seats in the house the cameras.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - round deux

I have watched maybe 10 periods of hockey this season but I'm going with chalk in this round with Dallas probably having the best chance at pulling off an upset. I hope the Rangers can advance, but Pittsburgh is the type of team that will end up beating them in 6 with almost all of the games being decided by how well they can score. I don't see them winning a game without scoring at least 3 goals, and if they allow 3 that's almost a certain loss.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

I wouldn't say they're definitely getting bounced, but at the same time I don't see them winning 4 of the next 5 either especially because D'Antoni refuses to use his bench. If Hill has to sit any of the remaining games, then he's got a 7 man rotation and Shaq won't be able to survive that kind of workload.

    NBA Playoffs 2008 - Round 1

D'Antoni is such an awful in game coach that it amuses me when commentators talk about how much he's brought to the Suns with his offensive system. I think it's against his religious beliefs to play more than 8 guys even when one of them is hurt and another is killing them on possession after possession. Hopefully he'll remain their coach until after their window shuts next year.

And yet Dallas made the Finals without him, and Phoenix hasn't with better peripheral players than Dallas.

New Orleans is mugging Dallas right now. I feel for Cuban, millions and millions spent for what looks like it'll be 1 Finals appearance and then the window getting shut in his face.

I don't think the Mets can get Tex considering the Yankees desperately need a 1B too. Wright has issues with throwing to first at times, especially on routine grounders. And if anyone is watching today's game and just saw Delgado make an idiot of himself in the field they know why this guy is simply killing the Mets right now. I'm almost rooting for him to end up on the DL. His mental error just cost us 2 runs and his inability to put a bat on the ball in the clutch cost us a chance to score in the top of the inning. Just awful stuff from Carlos.

Carlos Delgado sucks at life. The Mets NEED to cut him loose at the end of the year, move Wright to 1st and look for someone to play 3rd.

Good for him. He was my preseason pick to win the MVP and I think he would have if he hadn't missed all those games in the middle of the season. Out of all the teams in the playoffs I'd like to see Boston win just so KG could get his ring.

He may have been calling out Torre, but Cashman and Girardi got laid out as well, "I want him as a starter and so does everyone else, including him, and that is what we are working toward and we need him there now," Steinbrenner told the New York Times. "There is no question about it, you don't have a guy with a 100-mile-per-hour fastball and keep him as a setup guy. You just don't do that. You have to be an idiot to do that." The fact that he says only an idiot would keep him as a setup man basically shits on everyone in the entire organization who decided that's what Joba's role should be. Anyone who doesn't like the Yankees hopes that Hank gets his way here. Potentially destroying the bullpen for the season to put an unproven guy in the rotation for about 20-25 starts at 5 to 6 IP per is the best way for the Yankees to miss the playoffs.

As an ardent Yankee hater my new motto is: In Hank we trust.

I'd be satisfied if we had acquired him for fewer years and/or dollars. This year it seems like Beltran strikes out in just about every big spot, on top of that he gets minor nagging injuries fairly often and lacks any kind of leadership skills or grittiness. Had he not had that monster postseason with Houston he'd still be rotting in a small market somewhere and putting up huge numbers with no expectations. In 2006, he was borderline great but his other two seasons weren't anything special and my feeling is that he's too "soft" to play in NY. He's just another guy who took every dollar he could from a big market club and didn't live up to the expectations to me. I don't see him getting any better for the remainder of the contract, so we just have to ride it out.

I see that the "we can turn it on whenever we want to" Pistons didn't take too long to get overconfident in an early round game.
