I missed the Suns/Spurs game, but got to see the shit-astic Wizards/Cavs game where no one could hit a shot in the 4th. Life is unfair sometimes.
-
Looks like LeBron threw an elbow there, but I'm sure nothing will come of it because he's LeBron. Nice to see that someone learned from last year's brawl to stay on the bench.
-
I'm glad to see Arenas back, and I'm hoping the Cavs get KO'ed in this round just so I don't have to see anything LeBron related until next year.
-
That's possible, but I don't think they have a single player on the roster worth building around or trading for better pieces. Essentially they have a bunch of guys under contract who they have to play until their deals expire or pay to get rid of them. Unless they get lucky in the draft and get the # 1 or 2 pick and Beasley or Rose as a result, that likely won't change soon.
-
That Phil Hughes guy certainly looks like he's on pace to win the 20 games/Cy Young some idiotic fans in NY were predicting this offseason when they decided he'd have a better year and/or career than Santana.
-
I think that's the length of time you meant.
-
I'd rather watch a 22 inning 2-1 game than a 9 inning slugfest as long as my team wins the 22 inning game. There's nothing worse than the stomach punch of losing in the 15th+ inning.
-
And he does it by scoring on another wild pitch. What a ridiculous finish, but I'll take it.

The Mets should have won this game about 3 or 4 times by now. That blown call at 3rd will piss me off if they manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
-
Boston in 5 Cleveland in 6, though I hope otherwise because I hate LeBron Orlando in 6 Detroit in 5 LA in 5 Utah in 7 San Antonio in 6, and I have a feeling Shaq picks up at least a few technical fouls if not a flagrant "to send a message" New Orleans in 6
-
I don't think anyone is sure that Boston is going to beat Detroit. Everyone seems to be sure Boston/Detroit will be the ECF and then it's pretty much a coin flip.
-
So Golden State made a huge comeback in the 3rd and then blew it in the 4th which means Denver's in.

That sucks. His dad seems like a really cool guy from the rare times I've seen him interviewed. I hope his condition improves.

I'm hoping for Lakers vs Pistons or Celtics myself. I don't like the Spurs or Suns, and don't believe any of the other Western teams will make it to the end, I despise LeBron and the East is the drizzles outside of the big 2. If Yao hadn't been hurt I'd probably be rooting for the Rockets too.

If Immelman blows this that will be the greatest choke of all time.

Santana shitted the bed today. I thought Shea was supposed to cut down on his HR total. I guess he didn't get the memo. That would be true except for the fact that Marquis has a better postseason W/L record and ERA than Wang.

You just cited pace to prove a point and then completely ignored it at the end of the same post. Back in the '90-'91 season only 3 teams scored under 100 PPG (Dallas 99.9, Minny 99.6 & Sac 96.7) and 7 teams scored 110+. So giving up ~100 points a game was actually playing above the numbers back then. However, in '04-'05 only 6 teams broke 100 points a game with 10 teams scoring less than 95 a game. Giving up ~100 per game is actually playing below the league numbers in that year. In the words of Mark Jackson, you're better than that.

The fact that YOU wanted a rookie to start the postseason opener means he can't be an ace even to you. An "ace" who can only pitch well at home when he's spotted a 4 or 5 run lead isn't an ace, that's a # 3 starter, which is what Wang would be on a team that doesn't put up about 6 runs per game when they're on. My argument was that on the Yankees you can't be an ace if you can't win a postseason series as the "#1". Swap any of the other big name pitchers for Wang and you guys would have been between 27 & 29 titles by now. Put Wang on Minnesota, San Diego, Arizona or Cleveland and they don't make the playoffs because his 19 wins each of the last two years would look more like 13-15 at best.
-
Put Peavy, Santana, Webb or Sabathia on the Yankees and you guys would have won at least one WS in the last 3 years. The offenses behind them suck and their teams mainly made the postseason because of what they did every 5th day. Wang is not a dominant pitcher and he'll prove it again this October provided that the combo of the aforementioned Hughes and Kennedy pitching twice every time through the rotation doesn't end up costing the Yankees a spot in this year's postseason. I don't think this discussion's going anywhere so I'll drop it here and mock Wang in the clutch when he comes up like Tom Glavine yet again.
-
Would you trade Wang straight up for Beckett? Peavy? Santana? Webb? Sabathia? etc. Would any of those teams trade their legit ace for Wang? Would any of those other teams' fans pull for an unproven rookie to start a postseason game ahead of any of those guys? That's the difference to me, and most Yankees fans in the tri-state area according to the lynch mob that wanted Wang's head last October.

Giving up 3 runs, 8 Hits and a BB in less than 7 innings in his one start in '06 doesn't dispute anything. They won the game because their offense was good (they put up a 5 spot in the 3rd and 2 more in the 6th) not because of Wang. When Wang leads the Yankees to a single postseason SERIES victory and looks dominant then we can anoint him as an ace. Otherwise he compiles nice regular season stats because he puts in his ~200 innings/30+ starts and the Yankees score about 900 runs a year.

The Knicks managed to make the NBA Finals twice with atrocious offensive teams. Granted the WC has been tougher over the last couple of years than the EC was in '94 & '99, but a lockdown defensive team has a better chance of getting the 85-95 points needed to win a tough postseason game than Phoenix, Denver or Golden State does of scoring 110-120 every time in order to win the 12 games needed to make the Finals and the 16 needed to win the trophy. Also are the Hornets tanking tonight or just getting their asses kicked? It's 46-22 with 3 1/2 gone in the 2nd Quarter.
-
In the postseason his IP will drop by 4, his hits allowed will increase by about 8, his runs allowed will be up by 4+ and his pitch count will be the same. Anyone who thinks Wang is a big game pitcher hasn't seen his balls shrink in the postseason the last two years.

Every time I think Tiger is a lock to do well at a major he's out of contention by Friday afternoon/evening. I should have known better.

So how come MVP Nash, and two All-NBA talents haven't won a championship yet? You'd think having 3 top 15 players would be enough.
