With the 31st pick, the New York Giants select Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt Most of the mocks I'd seen had the Giants selecting Dan Connor here, but he went off of the board early and none of the other available LB seemed to have unanimous 1st round grades. All of the "lock" first round DB's are all gone as well. With Strahan possibly coming back I figure adding some depth to the offensive line couldn't hurt and given that Long, Clady and Otah are gone as well I think he's probably the next best prospect. If he bulks up a little bit and develops some of the nasty traits that had people calling the Giants' O-Line a bunch of dirty players I think he'll be fine. In all honestly, I think packaging this pick with whatever else Atlanta wants (within reason) for Hall would be their best move.

I know this is a really small sample of just 3 games, but I think that this Suns team as presently constituted is toast in the playoffs.

Does anyone know where Phoenix' offense went? They scored 124 (?) against LA, and then barely broke 80 against the Celtics and are trailing 75-50 to Detroit.

Isiah only deals expirings because Isiah believes in Isiah's vision.

Why is Dr. J even trying to make this thing seem like it was competitive? Dwight's "worst" dunk was still better than everything else with the possible exception of the "birthday cake". Dwight's first three are probably all close to top 5 of all time in the dunk contest.

Get the fuck outta here. Dwight Howard has just done three of the greatest dunks I've ever seen in succession.

Dwight. Motherfuckin'. Howard. Legend.

Gotta love Cubes. It wasn't more than a couple of days ago he said the deal wouldn't happen because they'd have to give up half their team to make it work, and he liked their team. I just don't see how the team will be better in the long run if they have to gut the bench, and possibly give up a starter or two to get Kidd.

Why are they letting Clemens talk about his upbringing, and playing for team USA when the questions have absolutely NOTHING to do with that?
-
You could argue that McNamee lied to keep guys (and himself) out of trouble, but Clemens has been proven to have lied more times under oath than McNamee over the course of the hearing. As Al said, Clemens didn't need to fight this, but by doing so he's coming out like McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro and Bonds. Let's keep in mind that Pettitte used HGH in 2002, lied about using HGH in 2004, and he was PRAISED for being an honest man by someone on the committee because he ultimately told the truth. Roger just keeps on lying because his HOF candidacy is dwindling with every passing moment.
-
The nanny, Pettitte, Mrs. Pettitte, Knoblauch and McNamee are all liars if you believe Rog. If not, he's just sinking here under the weight of the lies he can't keep straight.

I'll take the Giants if they're still available.

Leave it to the Knicks to thoroughly outplay the Spurs for 47 3/4 minutes, but find a way to give up a wide open game tying three in the final second of regulation, and then go ice cold in OT to blow another game they had no business losing.

The White Manute Bol, The Burly Sean Bradley, Gheorghe Muresan with less nose. In other words, a big stiff whose one skill was blocking shots because of his 7 foot+ frame.

My favorite KJ moment. That one's not bad, but the guy was a statue.

??? The NFC East has been the most consistently good top to bottom division in the NFL the past few years. When were they a joke? The NFC East was talked about in bad terms by certain analysts on Fox and ESPN because none of the teams had done particularly well in the playoffs in recent years. The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in what 11 or 12 years, Eli was 0 for 2 entering this postseason, the Eagles' failures are well documented and the 'Skins haven't done much since Gibbs was there the first time. In the regular season they've been really good, but until this Giants run they had been the division that gets 2 or 3 teams in the dance with nothing to show for it.

You're assuming that Shaq doesn't get hurt again, or can even give you a steady 25 to 30 minutes a night for a postseason run which are both fairly large assumptions. I also don't buy the argument that Shaq gets you open threes because no one in the WC playoff mix should be double teaming him of all people. He can't lift anymore, so when he does the ball fake/shoulder dip he just ends up running through guys. Add in that Shaq and Amare both can't/don't play defense AND you're trading away Marion, so a competent frontcourt should eat these guys for lunch and that's why I think this move is a huge mistake for Phoenix. But then again, I don't like the Suns so I hope Shaq passes his physical.

This is the most peculiar trade I think I've ever seen. The run and gun Suns tradng for a broken down shell of a guy is one thing, but giving up a stud to get him is just bizarre. As bad as the Eastern Conference is Miami could still make a playoff run, and even if they don't they'll get a lottery pick to go with Wade and Marion. It's almost like Phoenix wants Miami to do well at its own expense. I just don't get it.

The sad part is that to the average fan these days they won't realize that that game is far more special and impressive than a generic Jason Kidd triple double this year where he gets about 12-10-11.
-
As a Giants fan, I don't see this being the start of a dynasty at all. They seem like the type of team that can make the playoffs maybe 3 times out of the next 5 years, but I don't know if they've got another Super Bowl run in them during that timeframe. However, at this point I don't really care.

Skip Bayless just said that the Eli escape/Tyree catch wasn't the best play on that drive let alone in the game. He also refuses to back down on his assumption that Coughlin made "the worst coaching decision ever" by playing all out in Week 17. I understand they need to have point/counterpoint arguments, but when no one can take your stance seriously it's just stupid.

Maybe they can become collectibles like Jerry Jones' prematurely purchased tickets to the NFC Championship.

What a way to end 18 years of frustration. The 1990 Super Bowl win was the last time one of my favorites won a championship, and this win makes up for the '94 and '99 Knicks, and 2000 Giants and Mets losses.
