I can't believe Eli fucking did it. He is a living legend in NY for the rest of his life. Wow.
-
I agree, as long as the score ends up 17-14.
-
Toomer just needed to roll over, ARGH!
-
Someone would have to fall down like Corey Webster for that to happen, especially with Eli not looking at anyone but Plax.
-
It looks like Eli's gonna have to win it with a TD at the end. Not what I wanted to see.
-
Eli's trying to make good on my pick to win the MVP. Now the defense needs to do its job.
-
So when exactly did Tom Brady become as immobile as Drew Bledose?
-
Except remember how many timeouts his team had left. *rimshot* Seriously though, Rasheed, Webber and Derrick Coleman are probably the three most agitating guys to watch in terms of squandered talent that I've ever seen.

Isiah: "Adding a player of Gasol's ability wasn't necessary because I believe we have enough chips and assets onboard that one day we will win a championship here and I believe a couple of these guys will be a part of that. We just need to work on our tempo on offense and make sure we rebound the basketball. As I sit here and I say it today, I know people will laugh even more at me, but I'm hell-bent on getting this accomplished and making sure that we get it done. And I'm not leaving until we get it done."

I think it'll be hilarious if after all of this nonsense Santana ends up failing the physical.

I guess you aren't as familiar with Freddy Coupon as the average Mets fan is. They just asked for and received a two hour extension apparently. If this deal doesn't get done someone has to get fired and the Wilpons may just unseat the Dolans as the most incompetent ownership group in NY.

That Lakers/Grizzlies trade looks like one for the all-time best/worst deals depending on which side you're on. More importantly though I won't have to hear another "Kobe demands trade, then changes his mind, then demands a trade again" story. The NBA should just contract the Grizzlies at this point.

They looked like the best team in 2006, but lost to a team a few games over .500 and last year's epic collapse makes me cautious about winning the pennant. But both of those losses can be pointed directly onto the pitching staff, and Santana immediately shores that up. Martinez/Santana/Maine would be like death row in the postseason. They snag one more consistent bullpen arm between then and now and they've got a great shot to make it to the big dance in October/November. I know, but with Pedro and El Duque you never when they'll get hurt and someone like Pelfrey has to put in 10 or 15 important starts he's not yet prepared to make. I'm still not sold on Heilman/Wagner in the 8th and 9th innings in the postseason either. With Santana this looks like our team with the best chance to win the World Series since the '80s but we have to actually get there first. I knew the 2000 team was going to get crushed by the Yankees and I don't think the 2006 team would have beaten the Tigers, but I also didn't think the Tigers would completely forget how to throw the ball to first base and essentially serve up the trophy on a silver platter. I guess what I'm saying is that the first 135 games or so of next year won't really give me an idea if the team is actually going to live up to their potential on paper. They've looked like world beaters from April to September 1st the last couple of years and that really hasn't amounted to anything yet.

If the Mets make this deal with those prospects there's absolutely nothing to complain about. Given the success rate of most of the prospects they've traded in recent years (Kazmir notwithstanding) it's practically a steal considering that Wilpon likely wouldn't have outspent the Steinbrenners if Santana had become an UFA. I still don't think we'll win the pennant, but at least Minaya finally woke up and improved the team.

That's true. I think everyone assumes that either Boston, Dallas, Detroit, Phoenix or San Antonio is winning the title and that the other 25 teams are just playing for the last 11 playoff spots and ping pong balls. It would take a minor miracle for all 5 of those teams to lose in the postseason.

Well the only darkhorses with a chance at doing anything this year are New Orleans and the Lakers. I don't really see how Dallas is a darkhorse when they were in the Finals 2 years ago, and the # 1 seed in the West last year. The Hornets will probably lose in the 1st round of the playoffs, but there aren't a whole of options to choose from

1. Boston. The only other contender seems to be Detroit. 2. San Antonio. I can't pick against them in the WC playoffs even though I despise that team. 3. Boston because San Antonio doesn't repeat. 4. The Los Angeles Lakers as long as Bynum comes back and continues to progress. The only other team that fits the bill of dark horse contender is the Hornets. 5. Kevin Durant. 6. Chris Paul, they're playing .700 ball and he's averaging 21 & 10 as well as leading the league in steals. 7. Miami or Chicago. 8. Now that Boston likely won't win 70+, I guess I'm interested to see just how long it will take for Miami to be completely disassembled and become as irrelevant as the Marlins in a rebuilding season. Shaq and Riley have to go, and aside from Wade they have less talent than any other team in the league. At least they got that one championship ring.

Emmitt also thinks there's a possibility that if the Pats beat the Giants they'll win the Super Bowl.

My retarded pick that would make the universe implode New York 38 New England 35 Eli Manning wins the Super Bowl MVP by executing a game winning TD drive in the final 2 minutes. My real pick New England 31 New York 21 (a late TD covers the spread and hits the over) Tom Brady wins his 3rd Super Bowl MVP and 4th ring.
