Brady to Moss ties both of their individual records at 49 & 22 TD respectively, and they also snapped the Vikings' record for points with 560. The Giants just took the lead back with a kick return TD though! Awesome game so far.

I wasn't trying to say that Howard wasn't putting up monster numbers because he is as far as a modern big man can, but looking at some of the stats guys were putting up in '61-'62 like The Big O's triple double per game, Russell with a 20-20 per game, Elgin Baylor averaging close to a 40-20, West and Guerin with better than 27-6-6, Pettit's 31-19 and a rookie Walt Bellamy's 28-18 it's just kind of staggering to see how many guys were putting up totals that could never happen now. I understand that everyone playing now is bigger, faster and stronger, but it's still hard to believe that to approximate Oscar Robertson today you would need AI's scoring prowess mixed with Kidd's rebounding and passing skills and those are two of the best guards of the last 20 years. Granted, Roberston would never average the same numbers in the modern game but I have a hard time thinking that Kidd or AI would put up 30-13-12 every night back in the '60s. Even though I'm pretty sure that guys like LeBron, Howard, Kobe and KG would be beasts back then just because their size and athletic ability would be unmatched, I still don't know about averaging a triple double or 30-20.

http://www.nba.com/features/player_rankings.html http://www.nba.com/heritageweek2007/player_rankings6162.html I was just looking at the NBA website and came across those pages. Look at some of the stats guys were putting up back then in the second link, and it's mindboggling when compared to the numbers today's guys put up. For example, the guy who is ranking the MVP candidates says Dwight Howard is "putting up Wilt Chamberlain numbers" at 23.6 PPG & 15.3 RPG, but Wilt was putting up 48.0 PPG & 26.5 RPG which is almost double Dwight's production. 48 points in a game once is a big deal, and I can probably count the total number of 26 rebound games in an entire NBA season on one hand but that was an "average" game for Wilt.

Best - Bill Belichick, they're 14-0 and look like they're two layups away from a perfect regular season. Worst - Brian Billick, although Coughlin will take his place if the Giants fail to make the playoffs after a 6-2 start after backdooring their way in last year after a 6-2 start.

Jericho didn't exactly have a gun in that duel. He got his ass handed to him. Ass handed to him? JBL started off all happy/laughing at what he did to at the PPV but by the time Jericho was done ripping on him, JBL was pissed off and ready to fight. He fell right into the trap that Jericho wanted him to (to show up on Raw face to face). I thought both guys did great in their role and if they keep it up, this feud should get some pretty good heat. Everything JBL said about Jericho was true. He made him look like someone who will never win the big one (again). JBL basically shot on Jericho the entire time and Chris sat there with a stupid look on his face and threw in a couple of JHS level insults. Jericho may have gotten the result he wanted, but he took a verbal beating to get it.

The message I'm getting from the media and the players is something like "Hey kids, taking HGH to heal injuries is not so bad. Just as long as you're not doing it to get an edge, or hit for power. *wink wink nudge nudge* In summary cheating to heal is good, cheating to perform better is bad." I think that's going to be the new excuse, "I only did it to heal, and I never did steroids!"
-
I guess they're saying he did HGH twice during the same timeframe. Props to Andy for at least admitting it unlike so many of his brethren.

I would pay good money to punch Donald Fehr in his face and get away with it. I don't think there's anyone involved in sports in any way who I've disliked more than him.

And yet some people are shocked that Clemens, Gagne or Pujols are (allegedly) on the list because they "didn't seem like the type" to do 'roids or other PEDs, when they perfectly match the profile of someone who has done them. If this gets the media to share the wealth in terms of the venom they've battered Bonds with over the years this is a huge success.
-
Did Mike & The Mad Dog mention if any current Mets were on the list? I'm sure a bunch of former Mets will be on it, I'm just curious if I'm gonna end up finding out that Reyes or Wright was juicing which would just about end any semblance of my rooting for that organization.
-
It's entirely possible that guys like Giambi & Bonds would be the only MVPs on the list. I just don't think they're going to expose anyone major who we didn't know about already. If someone like Pujols, Papi or Clemens is on the list I'd give them all the kudos imaginable, but I just don't see it.

I can't believe I forgot this, but the Darko Milicic rant in Ripper's sig was one of the funniest things I've ever seen related to sports. -

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2831135 The undisputed champ in my mind From the above link: In the seventh year of a $121M, eight-year contract, Mike Hampton hasn't thrown a full season since 2004. He's not expected back for 2007, either. Assuming that, here's the breakdown of Hampton's worth. Stat Total $ Per Stat Starts 131 $791,044.78 Wins 53 $2M K's 420 $252,380.95 (Dis)Honrable mentions in no specific order Allan Houston's 2nd contract as a Knick (6 years, $100 million) when they knew his knees were shot. They didn't use the Allan Houston exemption on him either. Ugh. Bryant 'Big Country' Reeves - (6 years, $65 million) BWAHAHAHAHA Carl Pavano stealing money from the NYY Chan Ho Park (5 years, $65 million) Larry Brown (5 years, $50 million) which turned out to be almost $30 million for 1 year. . . where the Knicks won 23 games Michael Vick (10 years, $130 million w/a $37 million signing bonus) Roger Clemens '07 prorated monstrosity

So Pavano got $27 million+ for 19 starts with the Yankees? That guy is the greatest thief in NY sports history this side of Allan Houston.

This Pats/Steelers game was fairly predictable, even moreso when Smith ran his mouth for no reason. -

Brady to Moss x 2. I hope the Pats run it up on the Steelers. -

Akers just missed a 57 yard game tying FG attempt as he hit the right upright. It had PLENTY of leg on it, but the Giants somehow improve to 9-4 and with the Lions probably losing they've all but clinched the right to lose to Tampa Bay or Seattle in the 1st round of the playoffs. Woo. -

Brandon Jacobs is the softest man his size to play football. Ever. The guy gets stripped almost any time someone touches the ball. -
http://cbs.sportsline.com/nba/story/10511914 According to that article it's for 3 yrs/~$ 17 million (mid level exception), but Varejao could opt out after year 2 and become a free agent, which he more than likely would because he thinks he's worth much more than he actually is.

Considering there's not a Mets fan out there who thinks that was a good deal, I fail to see your point. Santana's at worst a top 3 in MLB pitcher, and yet you've got Yankee fans who have convinced themselves that Joba, Hughes AND Kennedy will all be as good as he is so there's no need to get him, and that Cano, Cabrera and all of their other prospects are untouchable. If you're not willing to trade anyone that is worth a dime, why get excited last week when it seemed like your team was the favorite to land him? It sounds like a guy who wanted to date a girl, talked her up for a while, asked her out, got rejected and then says something to the effect of "I never wanted that bitch anyway".
-
It's awesome listening to Yankees fans talk about Santana as though he's Ervin Santana now that it looks like he's going to Boston. It's laughable how some fans are embracing the "underdog" role when they're still paying almost $200 million per year to field their team. Must be some powerful drugs those guys are on.
-
I just heard on Mike and the Mad Dog that the Yankees believe Santana is going to the Red Sox for Lester, Crisp and a "couple of other prospects". Something about that potential deal just doesn't sound right from Minnesota's end. If Santana goes to Boston, the Yankees will go after Haren.
