1 for 6. This has been a hideous start to the "real competition". If Lakisha sucks this week will be a complete wash.
-
I can't believe people thought Simon was referencing a whale. Americans are so retarded.
-
You are correct sir. Sadly, this little weirdo will be around for another 3 or 4 weeks.
-
So we're 1 for 4 so far tonight with Melinda being the only one who's actively trying to win.
-
Sligh needs to put the glasses back on. Does he remind anyone else of John Popper back when he was fat? I thought that was good but I'm not sure that'll help him.
-
I'm not loving this, but Melinda's not going anywhere.
-
Brandon probably just saved Haley, Phil, Sanjaya and anyone else who might suck tonight.
-
Only 1 per week from now on. Brandon going first was a BAD idea. He's putting me to sleep again.

I don't actually know where I saw that but it seems to fit Zvonareva better than Vera does. I wonder if she cried after the victory. Fear not, RoboRod will find a way to lose to someone he shouldn't. As long as Nadal doesn't win I don't really care who does.

Bepa KOs 'Pova 6-1 in the 3rd, and Justine will be # 1 again once the next rankings come out. Yay. I'm still mourning Fed's lost to Canas though. Ugh.

I know there's been a few instances where two contestants sang the same song during one episode. The most recent event that was similar was both Leslie and AJ picking the same song and then getting the dual boot this season. I think generally one of the two caves in because there's nothing worse than being the second best at singing a specific song on a given night. I vaguely remember Randy shitting on someone pretty badly for making that mistake saying something like "when you heard the other person was going to sing it, you should have known they'd do it better than you and picked something else."

The Warriors are putting it to the Mavs tonight. The streak had to end at some point, but Dallas is down by 20+ right now.

Kobe needs anger management. I'm half expecting to see him end up with a domestic abuse charge some time in the next 2 weeks.
-
So, is there a reason Rob & Amber didn't even run at the end? That was shenanigan-tastic.

I don't necessarily think the voting is rigged once you get to the top 12, but there's always some funny business between the group that makes it to Hollywood and the final 24 (Antonella over the one white girl that could sing and Sundance over the one black guy this season that had a voice and a personality just to name two) and even more shenanigans from the 24 to the 12. It's common knowledge that the producers have a vote in the decision making process up until the final 12 at least. Simon in particular usually anoints a favorite or two by now, and the other judges try to stress that this is a "singing competition" to weed out the weaklings even though Paula usually forgets that and tries to keep in talentless guys she wants to bang with retarded comments and standing ovations every time they perform. Taylor was going to win last season no matter what he did, even though Daughtry caught the best deal out of that season since he'll end up outselling everyone else from that year all by himself.

I know guys with MBAs who ended up working at Starbucks and the Gap for quite a while (at least 6 months) since they didn't have any experience. You can't get any kind of Econ related jobs around here without an MBA and/or a few years experience (except for teaching Econ ironically enough). It's probably different elsewhere in the country, but in NYC as of the last couple of years it's almost a dead end career choice for those coming out of college. Accounting/Bookkeeping and Finance are the way to go at least around here for recent/upcoming college grads.
-
Well you can't make up for 4 lost starters at those positions in the draft and the Giants don't have the luxury of pissing a year away to develop some youngsters with vocal guys like Strahan & Toomer coming to the end. They didn't make the move for McGahee which would have shored up the RB spot and to just cut Petitgout loose without a backup plan in place was retardation on the highest level. The NFC East is a winnable division and we're just sitting by twiddling our thumbs as everyone else improves and our options close on a daily basis.
-
Well they have Brandon Jacons to handle RB, so that's not exactly a gaping hole. I don't know what the backups look like, so maybe that's what you're referring to. After removing Tiki & Eli's numbers you can see that they don't really have any backups at the RB spot aside from Jacobs who got minimal carries last year. With Luke and Tiki gone that's also basically 90% of Eli's backside/blitz protection and Eli's not mobile enough to work with what amounts to a bunch of rookies at those key positions. They cut two starting linebackers too, and have done absolutely NOTHING thus far in free agency. With no high draft picks I don't see how they're going to find a starting LT, 2 LBs, a RB and at least another CB.
-
Don't major in Econ unless you plan to go to grad school afterwards or don't really care what you get your BA/BS in. After nearly 3 years worth of credits done I came to the realization that I didn't want to spend more money to get a largely useless Bachelor's degree and then need to follow it up with an MBA just to have the chance to get a job in that field. If you're able to switch over into Accounting or Finance you'd probably be able to get a good job after the 4 years. I live in NYC and know quite a few people with MBAs who can't find work ever since 9/11 because it's almost impossible to get your foot in the door to get experience. Accountants however are always in demand so that's why I'm transferring schools to finish up in Accounting instead of Econ.
-
So are there any decent LT or RB left on the market? You'd think that the Giants might want to address one of those gaping holes some time this year.

If you buy into the theory that this week generally has the producers handprints all over it and look at how things shook out on dialidol over the 3 weeks leading to tonight's verdicts, I'd say that Barba likely wasn't actually in the bottom 2, but Stephanie and Sabrina were. Simon and Co. liked Stephanie more, and chose to save her instead of Sabrina. Haley survived because 5 black girls out of 12 singing similar songs wouldn't have been good for any of them votewise when you add the guys in next week, and keeping Haley in the game makes one of the first few cuts easy for America. There's always SOME prom queen type girl who gets in by the skin of her teeth and promptly gets whacked. My gut says Haley & Brandon will be the first two gone in some order. The Sanjaya over Sundance & Jared thing was puzzling, but I think it worked out in much the same way. Jared was lame and thus disposable. Sundance got irrational praise from the judges and with both Phil and Sanjaya still there those two should be easy cuts along with Brandon. If Sundance had stayed he could easily have lasted another month before getting the boot, and I don't think Sanjaya will fare as well when Simon eventually brings him to tears and thoughts of suicide. At the end of the day, the only 4 people with any shot of winning this season are Blake, Chris Richardson, Lakisha & Melinda. By dumping Sabrina they made it easier to vote for Lakisha and Melinda without causing an uproar by having both Haley and Sluterrella make the top 12. By dumping Antonella, AI can actually focus on the competition and not Barba's latest seminude pics. Jared and Sundance going home just allowed the easily distinguishable bottom 4 or 5 to be right there to be Pagonged before one of the "shockers" happens and someone like Blake, Jordin or Sligh goes home before them, with another person in that middle group snatching a spot they don't deserve later. 4 threats to win - Blake/Chris R/Lakisha/Melinda 3 floaters - Chris S/Gina/Jordin (at least 1 of these people will outlast someone in the top group) 5 dead (wo)men walking - Brandon, Haley, Phil, Sanjaya, Stephanie (at least 1 of these people will outlast someone in the middle group)
-
I'm kind of upset that Sabrina got the boot when she was the only chick left that I found attractive. I never would have guessed that I'd be disappointed when both Antonella & Sundance got taken out simply because Haley & Sanjaya survived. I think this was easily the most retarded set of cutdowns from 24 to 12 in AI history.

Cleveland won that toss a while ago. from NFL.com

According to Buster Olney, Clemens is "at least a month" away from deciding whether he'll pitch or not. Something tells me, ESPN will still update us at least 10 to 15 times about his "progress" over the next month. Just fuck off and die already Roger.

Video of Jack Veneno beating Ric Flair for the NWA Title
naiwf replied to Shooting Star's topic in General Wrestling
"Sometime in '82" is the best I could find. Other places say January 15, 1983. I'm not sure though since none of the titles changes with Veneno, Colon or Jovica are recognized as "legit".
