Aside from the perfect season I'd think that the first ever 3-peat (in the SB era) would be an amazing achievement.

Take it easy, he barely hit Collins. You can't mete out punishments based on whether or not someone could have been hurt worse had the punch landed cleaner. I forget who it was that Shaq nearly beheaded a few years ago, but because he missed the mark and didn't nearly kill the guy he didn't get a major suspension. The flagrant foul did more damage than Melo's punch, so if Melo was to get the gate for the season then you'd have to suspend Collins for that long and then some. Isiah should also get a suspension because it was pretty obvious that the foul was premeditated and ordered by him.

So now that LT has sewn up the MVP (go back to the first page of this thread and revisit the thoughts of those who thought Peyton was the frontrunner if you want to have a chuckle) with 2 weeks to go, is he having the greatest season ever for a non QB? Thus far he's got 1626 rushing yards (38th best single season mark, 196 away from top 15), 53 recepts for 484 yards, 2110 yards from scrimmage (30th best single season mark, 320 away from setting the record) and the recordbreaking 31 total TDs plus 2 passing.

That's the most exciting incident at MSG since we lost Ewing. 'Melo and Nate are done for at least a month. Robinson's gotta go, he needs to be banished to some place like Toronto or Memphis. If Dolan doesn't can Isiah after he laughed about the melee in his press conference he never will.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

Fuck the Vicks for dropping the ball here. However, if the Giants win tomorrow they would all but clinch a playoff spot since they'd be 8-6, while Philly (season sweep), Atlanta (H2H victory), Carolina (H2H victory) and Minny could be no better than 7-7 going into the last 2 games. With a split of their last two, the Giants would seemingly have to be one of the top 2 in terms of tiebreaks since Atlanta @ Philly and Carolina @ Atlanta guarantee some losses from that group of teams they're competing with. If they lose tomorrow, things get a lot harder since you'd almost have to assume they'll lose to the Saints and then they would need to beat the Deadskins and hope for some help.

Angelos is like 77 years old..the only bright spot is he wont be around much longer regardless. True evil never dies.

I have less of a gripe about Nash winning his first than his second. I just don't like the idea that people seem to forget that 3/5 of their starters made the All-NBA squads and that it wasn't Nash and 11 jobbers posting 60+ wins. You can't start awarding MVPs based on how much better a winner played the following year especially when there were 4 or 5 other candidates who were equally or more valuable in year # 2. The race was Dirk's to win last year and he got shafted which leads me to believe that even if he were to average 30 & 10 and Dallas wins 65 games he won't get the MVP if Nash plays better than he did the last two years. It's just flawed logic at this point to keep giving Nash the MVP for different reasons and exclude guys who have done enough to win it but aren't the cute pick like he was last year.

Woody's back at the Post writing 4 columns a week I think.

"Steve Nash is the greatest point guard of this era". Kidd is only ~3,200 points, ~3,700 rebounds and ~3,000 assists ahead. Since they haven't played the same number of games, here is the per game averages -> 14.6 to 13.5, 6.5 to 2.8 and 9.2 to 7.1. Give me a fucking break guys, two seasons does not a career make. I didn't even bother to include Stockton or anyone else who played during the last decade but has since retired. ESPN is becoming more and more WWE like in that they don't think the average viewer can remember anything before 2004.

That's the whole thing that irks me about Nash winning last year. In the past Jordan was the default guy, but in the years where someone else could have easily matched his importance the other guy always won ('89 Magic w/MJ 2nd, '90 Magic w/MJ 3rd, '93 Barkley w/MJ 3rd, '97 Mailman w/MJ 2nd). Nash wasn't the runaway choice last year (I had him at # 4 or 5) and yet they still gave him the benefit of the doubt although he won his second for a completely different reason than his first as I explained earlier. This year there are going to be at least 5 to 8 legit candidates and if he wins again it's just retarded.

have you ever even watched the guy play? I ask this with all seriousness. How can the same guy win the same award for the following reasons in 3 straight seasons in the same league? 2 years ago - According to the dolts who voted he got the nod over Shaq because Phx had a bigger improvement in wins than Miami. Therefore Nash was most valuable because he caused the biggest growth in victories. Keep in mind that Nash (1st team All-NBA), Amare (2nd team) and Marion (3rd team) constituted 3 of the league's top 15 players that year. You SHOULD win 60 games with 20% of the best players in the league on the same team. And they still couldn't make the finals even with STEVE NASH~ bitches. And Dallas got better too, but that didn't count. Last year - According to the dolts who voted he got the nod over Dirk, Kobe, LeBron and Wade, because more guys on Phx had career years than the secondary guys on the other teams. Therefore Nash was most valuable because he caused the biggest statistical improvement in his teammates. Keep in mind that Amare's absence freed up those minutes, but that's not important because it's STEVE NASH~ bitches. This year - According to the dolts who will vote this year he'll again get the nod over Dirk, Kobe, LeBron and Wade, as well as guys like Dwight Howard because he's 30+, and getting better statistically. Therefore Nash will be most valuable because after 2 MVP seasons he somehow outdid himself. Keep in mind that guys who will champion Nash again didn't vote for Dirk, Kobe, LeBron or Wade based on those criteria last year, and that Dwight Howard will probably lead the league in rebounding and that either Orlando or Utah (Boozer) will have the biggest improvement in win differential (but neither guy will finish Top 5 in the MVP race) but that's not important because it's STEVE NASH~ bitches aka the greatest player in the history of the world. Even MJ never won 3 straight, hence this is bullshit.

I already said Nash was going to win another undeserved MVP this year as long as the Suns win at least one more game than last year because of course adding Amare back to the mix has nothing to do with Phoenix' success. He's the only guy in pro sports who will have won the MVP 3 times for 3 different reasons over 3 fields that had more deserving people in the mix. It's a fucking joke.

Chargers/Giants. Eli Manning vs Philip Rivers. Yeah, even I can't get through this one with a straight face.
-
I'm hoping the Mets pick up Giles because I'm not confident in Valentin being even half as good as he was this past season, and Anderson Hernandez is Rey Ordonez bad at the plate.
-
I just finished it last week. I bought it for $20 around last Christmas and it pretty much sat on my shelf until the week of Thanksgiving. Surprisingly good game. At the same time I picked up DC2, I also got my nominee La Pucelle Tactics. It just didn't catch my attention the same way that Disgaea did, which is sad because if I'd picked up Tactics first I might have enjoyed the game much more.

He's not eligible either way. He's notched 5 tackles on defense, and has 0 yards from scrimmage on offense.
-
The Rams have the awesomest kick return defense ever.

I can't believe I forgot about Madden. They'll still be making those game in 2050 with Frank Caliendo or some other comedian doing the commentary as Madden.
-
That was why I was so bored with the finish. It's the same exact thing they did to give Uchenna & Joyce the victory that should have gone to Romber. I just think it's lame that a team can do everything right to get on the key flight in the entire race and still lose because TAR producers need drama. There's no good reason to lose a million dollars because your cabbie didn't have EZ pass, and theirs did. Very disappointing finish to an otherwise good season.

naiwf, do you think it's a good move for the Knicks to go after AI? Chances are, if they didn't make the Francis trade, and they didn't cut Taylor and Rose, AND if Iverson wanted to come here, he would be a Knick, along with Webber. If they really wanted to, they still have a shot right now because they can take Webber back, but it's not as likely. It would be a good to great move for the fans of the Knicks who have given up on the team in recent years. On the other hand, I don't think it would be a good move for the Knicks as an organization. The only way Philly would trade him in the division would be to get (near) expiring contracts, and almost all of the young talent on the team because they're nice and cheap. There's no way the Sixers end up taking Marbury or Francis off of our hands, so we'd still have the same problem we do now with a bunch of guys making a lot of money and playing the same position.

Exhibit A. The Saints are delivering a 42-17 mammoth ass whipping to Dallas in "Big D", and Marvin has to spew some pointless shit about what the Ravens did to them.
-
This trouncing almost makes up for the disgusting Giants loss last week. Thank you Saints for killing the Romo hype for a few days at least.
-
Fuck you Automatica. You should have missed the FG last week. The Saints are hard to root against. Next time that "the Seahawks don't get any respect" guy comes around someone just point to this thread and remind him that losing to the Cardinals when playing for a # 2 seed is all the reason one needs to not respect those losers.
-
I don't hate Louisville football yet. I do however hate the Astros and Ravens. The NFL season is shorter, thus Marvin wins.
