Not that anyone cares, but. . . . I'm hoping the Padres win, and ultimately take this one in 5 since I have no fear of their lineup whatsoever (especially if Piazza plays), while Super Pujols could beat the Mets by himself.

Drew Bledose = drizzling shits.
-
The Statue of Drew Bledsoe is off to another fantastic start today.

According to ESPN, the NY Daily News says that Sweet Lou will be replacing Clueless Joe shortly. Poor A-Rod.
-
Let's go Padres! *clap clap clap clap clap*

It's not Cashman's fault but George can't fire George or any of the players so it's either him or Clueless Joe. Giving Joe the axe but not Cashman would cause a huge backlash because some Yankees fans still mistakenly think Torre's a great manager, or that he was a key component of their past success. My gut says Cashman goes, Torre stays, the Yankees spend more money, win 100 games as well as the AL East, but come up short again in '07.

It wasn't so much that he didn't give a real answer to any of the questions it was just the disgust he showed towards the reporters, whereas Posada and Rivera seemed to be genuinely hurt by the loss. Mo looked like he was on the verge of tears because he couldn't contribute. Posada was just dejected. Jeter's attitude was like, those fuckers didn't step up so I'm gonna go get my drink on and bang some bitches as soon as you idiots are through asking your stupid little questions. He's pretty much your typical sore loser who wouldn't even know how to be gracious in defeat.

The gist of what Jeter said was that "One loss doesn't hurt more than any other loss because it's a loss." "Losing to this team doesn't hurt more than losing to any other team because we lost." "It doesn't matter what things looked like on paper because you don't play games on paper, you play them on the field, and we lost on the field so it doesn't matter if we were better on paper." "Why should you care if you won a division? No one plays for the division. You play for the championships and we didn't win a championship." "It doesn't matter how much you lose by, because whether you lose 8 to 7 or 12 to 1 you still lost." He basically dug deep into Sports Cliches 101 for every question, and almost looked at the people asking the questions like they were morons for asking if this loss or season was disappointing. Not once did he give the Tigers credit. As usual, the Yankees lost because they decided not to win. It was nice seeing El Capitan losing his cool though as his level of disgust and vocal volume increased with every question.

Go Maddux Go!

I think Jeter just set a record for the most cliches in a losing statement ever. He's such a cocky prick.

The Cash-man.

$200 million sure doesn't buy what it used to. Leyland for President!
-
Not when he can go home and swim in a pool of money, and also fulfill his lifelong dream of wearing the pinstripes.

Typical female and/or bandwagon fan of the NY Yankees.
-
Auburn and LSU dying slow deaths would only be topped if Texas goes down hard today too just because they're ridiculously overranked.

This is awesome. Thank you Tigers for a winter's worth of suicidal Yankee fans. It's been 6 years without a title. The room is spinning!
-
Minnesota got hosed on that PI call which ultimately cost them the game.
-
Wake Forest snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. On the bright side, the overrated Tigers won't have to worry about getting screwed out of the BCS title game. Hopefully, Michigan can move up with a win today.
-
Clueless Joe.
-
93 yd kick return to the 5 to start the game for Wake. In typical scrub fashion they fumble the ball at the 2 two plays later.
-
You guys can just go get Zito for the same amount of money.

I think the Knicks benefit from not splitting the fanbase. The amount of hoops fans in NYC who would root for the Nets or anyone else outside of the tri-state area is miniscule. With baseball, the bandwagon fans tip the scales from one team to the other every decade or so. I haven't really lived through an extended period of both teams sucking, so it's hard to tell. I wouldn't be shocked if the Yankees go in the shitter after Steinbrenner passes and the Mets "reclaim" the city. Having said that, even with all of the hoopla around baseball season I'd still say NY in general cares most about football because The Giants and Jets will always maintain their fanbases and neither team has been great for about 10-15 years. Same thing with the Rangers. It's baseball and basketball that see the ebbs and flows the most, but the Garden was the place to be during the Ewing era. Now it's a graveyard.

New York IS a basketball town. We just don't have a professional basketball team these days. The games at Rucker and West 4th St are of higher quality than those scrimmages taking place at MSG.

THEY WON NINETY-FIVE GAMES That doesn't matter in New Yawk. Most fans would have had you believe the Yankees were playing the Devil Rays' A affiliate. I'm telling you, people were calling up WFAN and asking what day the parade was scheduled for so they could be sure to take the day off to celebrate. Almost every Yankees fan I know personally was already counting this year as # 27 before the postseason even started. Granted, I didn't have high expectations for Detroit, but at the same time no other team's fans are that arrogant. Hell, the Mets are up 2-0 and I still don't know if we'll get by LA.
