Ouchie. he's not even dh'ing tonight. must be flaring up real good.
-
penguins have been really good, and the wings aren't in sync. bad passes. poor decisions. this game should be 1-1. the first goal was a brutal giveaway. but i don't think this game is over.
-
who the fuck is that?
-
Edmonton lost its first time in the Stanley Cup finals against the Isles. Maybe they need some growing pains for next season. i agree with you. i was being slightly facetitious. but if any team can be a dynasty it is the wings because they have the ability to always draft well and keep their prospects. the pens only have about a 5 year window before the salary cap catches up to them and the team will have to be broken up. maybe theyll win next year, but i don't see detroit getting any worse. and the eastern teams are always catching up. the flyers could give them trouble next year. ditto: rangers.

they are like 1-26 when they score 4 runs or less. that game was painful. losing on a bases loaded 4 pitch walk is unacceptable.

I'd presume that Chelios - the slowest & most aged Wings defensemen - being healthy-scratched would help the Wings blueliners keep up with the Penguins. Don't get me wrong, their second pairing has played much better than I anticipated. But removing a 46 year old defensemen is bound to help a team keep up with a younger team. andreas lilja ain't exactly feelt of foot, or even that good. but i agree. to an extent. the top four dmen in detroit play 85% of the time, so it would be a wash. lilja makes a bit of a difference but lets not overstate it. chelios has been hurt for awhile. if he was 100% healthy, im sure he'd be playing. and the series would be exactly the same. and yes, franzen dived when he got hit. but roberts has been taking cheap punches at people his entire career. and the red wings are also helping me cope with the tigers. winning my playoff draft helps, too
-
did anyone else catch that slow and aging detroit defense struggling to keep up with the offensive firepower of the penguins? ya, me neither. team defense. it will always beat offense. funny thing is, the two best players in the series have been filpula and kronwall. none of the big names. everyone is saying they want the pens to win because they want to see a dynasty. you ARE seeing a dynasty, its just not with pittsburgh.
-
I'd be more than happy to have kronwall & stuart play against either crosby or malkin. detroits top 4 is the best in the league. no worries about that.

http://www.mlive.com/tigers/index.ssf/2008...rills_gril.html not uncensored, but you can make out everything he's saying. i still don't know about these tigers. they won in spite of rogers beefing his era up to almost 7. good work, guy.
-
i agree with chelios lidstrom? there's been no evidence of his age catching up to him playing defense against young forwards. especially since he is going to win another norris trophy. don't let age deceive anyone into thinking that lidstrom is going to have trouble with crosby and malkin. he's shown no signs of slowing down. and pittsburgh has a defensive liability with gonchar and slow brtues like gill, whitney, and orpik. to say that pittsburgh has the defensive upper hand is silly.

Willis wouldn't be any better. He might be worse. His control has become non-existant. He's on an express train out of the majors if he keeps going the way he's been going the last couple of seasons. maybe but i think he's young enough and has the track record to warrant another chance over kenny rogers. and nate robertson. and i too want that grilli rant. its funny, leyland supported that worthless fuck for the longest time, and now. haha. grilli was pitching alright at the time of his release, but two years worth of ineptitude overuled it.
-
with both kenny rogers and nate robertson having bloated eras over 6....with age going against them, placing dontrelle willis into the bullpen is very very frustrating. those two pitchers are very painful to watch right now. its the stubborness of leyland that occasionally hurts this squad. i don't think dfa'ing kenny rogers would really hurt them in the least. at all.

there's nothing bob plays from his past that sounds anything like thr original, anyway. i'd like to hear a re-interpretation of the song, but i'm sure it still wouldn't be the greatest thing ever or anything. but i still really like that song. a lot, honestly.
-
garth brooks? man....come on.
-
you may be the only person dumb enough to be criticising the deepest defense core in the league. age only applies to chelios and maybe lidstrom. everyone else is in their prime. except kronwall and lebda. they're going to get better. if there is anyone team in the league that has the definsive prowess, offensively and defensively, to stop the penguins it is the red wings. defense is the name of their game. it is everything. to give the duke definsively to the penguins is absolutely fucking stupid.
-
i'd maybe *maybe* take that into consideration, however, the nhl would be just as happy to see a regular 6 team win the cup. the cup back in hockeytown? while not the beginning of another dynasty, its not exactly like they're playing nashville.
-
bps21, come on. really. those sports conspiracy theories are so boring.
-
pittsburgh has more offensive fire power, but detroit's top two guys are better than pittsburghs. everyone can piss & moan all they want, but as a total package, both datsyuk and zetterberg are more complete players right now. they are the two best defensive forwards in the nhl in addition to being top 10 forwards in the entire offensively. gonchar makes mistakes. lidstrom is the best defenseman in over twenty years. i don't think pitts even has a defender at the level of kronwall...or even defensively as strong as stuart. i have been wrong before (many times) but i just see this as detroit's series. the detroit/pitts rivalry will be around for a long time....maybe like lakers/celts. both teams are set for a long long time.
-
call me crazy, i didn't mind the gnr knockin on heavens door. to be even more candid, that was the first version of the song that I knew. as a youngster of 10 years.
-
regardless, it still qualifies as "good".
-
totally. its my next fav behind purple rain. so rad. controversy is no slouch, neither. im kinda surprised to see neil young get slept on considering all of the crap that has been selected. all of this springsteen before neil young? i don't think so, tim.
-
ill pick my two because vitamin takes years to post his albums, and he'd never take the one's i will prince - dirty mind (1980) neil young - after the goldrush (1970)
-
no it wasn't. savard was washed up at this point. chelios was in his prime. he spend almost a decade leading the blackhawks. it wasn't a fair trade. not in the least. but nice try.

you're way wrong. lee perry's work alone disproves this
