is there a point to this? I only listened to many rivers to cross, and it sounds nearly identical to nilssons rendition. if the entire album continues down the path, is there any point to cover an album without making any changes whatsoever? is there any point of covering an entire album at all? i don't get this. and do indie kids still like the walkmen? did they ever? i didn't. i liked the rat, though.

i always hated rock the casbah. i don't know if it was the burger king commercials or overcooked classic rock playlists. BUT after listening to Mustapha Dance off of their super black market clash compliation, i have the newest & fondest appreciation for it. the funky basslines overide drum machine like hiccups as bangos are spanked ferociously. its quite the dance party. furthemore this dub version replaces the dreaded lyrics for delicious electronic swirls & hiccups that evokes the character of an opium den in brazil rather than a beefcake bar in des moines. anyone else have this?

grossman got hurt on two fluke plays. anyone can get hurt like he got hurt. its nothing one should hold against them. grossman was throwing some perfect passes today. their vertical game is downright dangerous. the precision is that of a skilled veteran quarterback. granted he won't play like this every night, but to know he has the ability to do so is great to see.

don't be quick to write off the a's. they've got the deepest staff in the league. the mere fact that they can decide between haren & harden in game three proves this. joe blanton is no slouch either. teams like the mets have trachsel & the yanks have cory lidle. seriously, people.

without you is the song. and its great by nilsson. can't say i'm familiar oldham's version. or want to be. though i downloaded i see a darkness or whatever that album pitchfork gave 10.0 to is called.

ok, harry nilsson is pretty fantastic, too. pussy cats is fairly neat. the vibe of the album suits the walkmen singer because nilssons cracked & bloody esophogus wrecked his voice. listen to nilsson shmilsson then pussy cats. its really different. many rivers to cross is an amazing song. nilssons version is much more passionate. to the average listener, the walkmen's version could seem amazing had they not heard the original pussy cats. what a great song.

they're the most ridiculous looking band ever. they all look so silly. the drummer looks the most normal, even if he's just stolen the my name is earl look. the other 3? ridiculous. like 1998 korn-levels of ridiculous.

russo was great. then he was told he was great. he started running out of ideas. tried too hard to recapture the magic. now he looks like a dunce. but face it, he was responsible for many of the neat things that happened in the late 90's. but he was a one trick pony. and that pony got beat to death.

i think the strokes have fallen into an undesirable middle ground. they aren't indie darlings any more. and the mainstream don't want them either. they're just sorta there. i don't think anyone cares how they dress, look, do their drugs, or which lou reed album they're borrowing from anymore.

Because their schedule lined up against two extremely shitty teams and they're taking care of business. Grady's doing a great managerial job too. the dodgers are simply hot right now. its not about aplying shitty teams. we've seen them get cleaned out by the pirates. they're just really streaky. plus they aren't that bad of a team. though starting pitching is a weakness. there's no ace little can put his faith in. penny has struggled, although i think he's hurt, right?
