Wow. That is indeed quite an impressive lineup of musicians. I'm a pretty big Belew fan, and am an on-off fan of both Tool and Claypool's bands (sometimes I love them and sometimes I find myself annoyed with both) so I'll probably be checking this out. For the record, how old is Adrian these days?

The new Fantomas is damn good but unfortunately with thirty songs in forty-something minutes there's not much *specifically* memorable on the record. But then again, considering Fantomas' other work, I probably should not have expected any singles to pop out of the album. Anyway, whenever someone else gets their hands on the album, please speak your thoughts. I'm about to go in for my second listen.

The new Fantomas and the fourth Pavement album ($8, my old copy was destroyed a while back.) And the Moz DVD. He takes off his shirt at the end~!

Can someone just do my dirty work for me and write me out a list of everything Mike Patton has ever been involved in that's good-great? I've got his first two Faith No More albums, and a Fantomas album. I'm going to get the new Fantomas tomorrow, and I was interested in this album that he was involved in that I saw a few days ago with jellyfish on the cover, but I forget what it's called. FAKE EDIT: This might not be the right thread for this, but I figure Brunzell will spot the post or something and help me out.

I finally got the new Beck and find it decent or above decent. Starts and ends well but the middle is sort of just good background music with one or two exceptions. Can anyone tell me if there is anything worthwhile in Can's discography aside from the first five albums? Or anything worthwhile in Faust's aside from the fourth album? I want more Krautrock, dammit.

After one and a half listens I'd say that that "What Have My Chickens Done Now?" song is my favorite, simply because it's so haunting/creepy, followed closely by "Inner Space," which is awesome. The album is a little bit bland (for the Residents, I mean,) but oddly that blandness sort of sets an off-centered atmosphere and there's enough awesome moments to keep everything from becoming a waste. On a completely seperate note, I am seeing Adam Green live tonight. Hopefully I meet him, as I met Kimya Dawson and she was awesome and I can't go my whole life having met only ONE of the Moldy Peaches. His new solo album is entertaining but overall not very good though, unfortunately.

There's a Pavement music video ("Stereo" I think? definitely something off of the second two albums) that's like that, but I don't think that's the one you're looking for. The Pixies videos are lame outside of the promotion video for "Debaser," which is potentially lame, but for some reason I enjoy it quite a bit. Oh, and you're mixed up -- Meat Loaf's videos are the best music videos ever, not the worst, silly.

I bought the new Residents album today. It's good. Especially the packaging, which is snazzy-to-the-max! If they play live anywhere closer than, say, Nebraska (I'm in southern California,) I'm going to drive out and see them. Pleeeease Residents! Tooooour!

I like Clinic's first album. They're from England.
-
So I heard the band Man Man for the first time today, and was told about them. I'm intrigued. Anyone have their album?

British Sea Power is good, but Inc has a point -- I'd rather be listening to the Bunnymen. Of course, with the Futureheads there is quite an abundance of bands I'd rather be listening to. And all of those other bands are pretty terrible, aside from the Bloc Party, who I have heard mostly good things about but have not looked into too thouroughly because I heard one song and didn't enjoy it that much. Thought it was passable, though, so maybe the rest is better.

Well, hrm. Top Five Instruments: 1. Banjo 2. Electric Viola 3. Cello 4. Steel Pedal Guitar 5. Theramin It should be noted that the plain-old Acoustic Guitar should be in there, but I wouldn't feel eccentric enough if I had that in my Top Five Instruments of all time. Top Five Vocalists: 1. Jeff Buckley 2. Freddie Mercury 3. Tom Waits 4. Prince 5. Mike Patton

I agree wholeheartedly. Which is strange, since I enjoy Tool more than Neurosis overall. I only really enjoy two Neurosis albums, but they're basically just Tool but better and more badass. And without Maynard. TSIB really is awesome though, Edwin. You should pick it up. Now.

Maynard James Keenan has "found Jesus" and has left the project for now, if not entirely. I dunno if the new TOOL will still be coming, and if it is, without MJK, I don't know that I really want it. Frankly, MJK is the worst part about Tool. And it was indeed an April Fool's Joke.

They're harmless, but I don't dig them much. Saw them on Conan though a while back, and they seem like a pretty passable live band.
-
Well since you're the first one I've seen who's gotten it and you're one of the five or six people on the boards that I actively distinguish from the others... I will ask the inevitable question: how is it?
-
I'm on a binge.

I listened to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs album again the other day. I still like "Y-Control"... but other than that... I don't know what I was thinking when I enjoyed this album. There is no way in hell that Karen O is more hideous than Kelly Osbourne though. No way in hell.
-
Oddly that sounds like it would be quite brilliant to me.
-
You are awesome.
-
I enjoy her quite a bit. Though I'm getting properly sick about this whole "freak-folk" scene. Sure, Devendra is nice to listen to, but he's not doing anything new.
-
"When the Levee Breaks" "No Quarter" "Battle of Evermore" "That's the Way" "In My Time of Dying"

I'd agree with that, and it only took me one year. But yes, Inc, I agree with IDRM -- you'll have to defend your position on hating Horses. I dislike pretty much every Rolling Stones album I've ever heard all the way through, save Exile and maybe one other. I enjoy individual songs but I don't know, the albums just... I just always want to be listening to something else. Most Radiohead I just don't get along with. They're awesome, and I know that. I just don't like them. Don't know how that works, but it does. The Wall is not even in my top five or six Floyd albums. Fragile, and many, many other cornerstone prog rock albums are just downright not too good. Mellow Gold is much better than Odelay! in my eyes. And finally -- Trout Mask Replica. I love the album to death, but I hate how it's reputation overshadows the rest of Beefheart's catalogue so damn much. I know just way too many people who ONLY own TMR with no attempt to get into any other Beefheart at all. Most haven't even heard of any of his other albums aside from maybe Safe As Milk. I find this ridiculous, as there are at least three different albums that I feel are equal or nearly equal to Beefheart's "masterpiece." I especially find his underrated later-day stuff intriguing.

So Nick Cave's B-Sides are good. And the packaging is SNAZZY! I highly recommend that everyone else pick it up. Can't go wrong with three Cave discs for only $20.00, after all.
