    This week in the NBA

...But part of the GM's job description IS the financial management of the team. That's a huge reason why he sucks at his job. Will you be calling him a good GM when the Bulls are sitting with a chance to get the first overall pick that NYK would have gotten this year? And is Robinson/Frye/Lee/Curry/Crawford/Ariza/Marbury really something to look forward to? Why didn't you bring up all the mistakes he's made: Jerome James?!?!?! Antonio Daniels?!?! how's Quentin Richardson working out. (Which you owe a 1st round pick for also at some point) Malik Rose for Nazr Mohammed?!?! (Really got back the better player here) Penny Hardaway?!? Not to mention Marbury and Crawford are HORRIBLY inconsistent, Curry could die on the court any day (Not to mention they have two uninsurable contracts which means they pay up even if the players go down) That leaves Robinson/Frye/Lee/Ariza as your 'solid consistent core' Except they're all rookies and second-year players that aren't that consistent (Robinson is an undersized 2-guard or a bad 1-guard, Frye's slumped off of late but he does have good potential, Lee/Ariza aren't really going to ever be more than role players...) You're WAY too positive about your team. Isaiah is decent at draft talent evaluation, but NONE of the other things he does really show any kind of a cohesive plan as to how he wants to develop the team. He changes his goalsd every 3 months, and it makes him look like a fool.

I enjoy Bill Simmons' articles, and enjoy how he writes from a fan's perspective. He never tries to claim he's a legitimate 'journalist'. And I hate all the teams he likes, but I still appreciate his writing ability and unique viewpoints. The best part about that is how bad of a GM Isaiah really is...it's like the guy can't handle being bad at something. He was a bad coach and he's a worse manager...that's nothing to be ashamed at, because he's a hall of fame player.

    NFL Playoffs: Divisional Round

Ironically, I believe this is Cowher's first AFC title game not at home. Everyone here was talking about how much better we'll play now that the damn afc title game is an away game.

    This week in the NBA

AK-47 is a matchup problem for any team...when you combine him with the good outside shooting yet solid post/rebounding play of Mehmet Okur you have a tough team. What they really need is to trade the EXTREMELY disappointing boozer and get someone else in there who can actually play with those guys. Most people forget that the Jazz had horrible inconsistent point guard play last year AND Kirilenko was injured for the whole season (either out, or nagged by injuries)...when your best player is healthy, you're -obviously- going to play better, especially when he's the best defensive player in the league.

    Plasma TV's

Actually CRT projection tv's have a much higher chance of burn-in than plasmas. New plasma televisions (Anything released in the last year and a half, many of which cost from 2k-3k btw) have a very minimal risk of burn-in, and the only significant way to burn-in a plasma is by playing a video game with a static menu/status bar for long periods of time, or a television channell like espnnews, cnn, HSN with a scrollbar on it. CRT projection televisions are much more suceptible to burn in than that...but they're pretty much not worth buying as a technology anymore, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Carson Palmer's injury could be career threatening

It's hard to even call that a hit, honestly. Kimo got blocked and his momentum from trying to reach palmer made him fall right on the joint. It sucks that it's so severe, I hope he can recover properly. As long as he can plant on the leg, he'll be able to make it back (It's not like he's much of a scrambler as previously said) I'd be more upset if I were a bengals fan as to why the brace didn't protect the leg at all, that'd be irritating me. Hopefully he'll be wearing something to give him some more support next time.

    This week in the NBA

You know I predicted a month ago the Clippers would trade Maggette for Artest...too bad it's being held up by Maggette's injury, because I think that deal helps both teams quite a bit. It makes both of them legit teams and that makes the playoffs way more exciting.

    This week in the NBA

They won't get much for him...he's not ron artest, but he's had attitude issues everywhere he's been (or refused to play). He won't buy into a system or anything a coach says...no legit contender is gonna want him messing things up...I could MAYBE see Minnesota with Garnett kinda holding him in check, but what can the T-wolves really give for him?

    Sting Interview

what I've been wondering for awhile now. the rock always brings up Sting's name when he mentions who he would want to wrestle (Telling Vince that he'd wrestle at wrestlemania if it were Sting/etc.) Sting now obviously really likes The Rock. Do they know each other personally very well...and do you think we'll ever see that match, considering how much the two respect each other and really consider it a dream match. If there ever was going to be a way for TNA to make it big, it would be a well-advertised Rock vs. Sting dream match. now I'm not saying it's likely, but surely you can see the potential there...

    NFL Playoffs

Is there EVER a wide receiver who feels he received the proper number of pass interference calls. Just once in a postgame press conference, someone like chad johnson should just come out and say "You know, those referees were spot on today in identifying pass interference. Got to hand it to them."

The real key to that trade is can Carlisle harness Pietrus' athleticism into a great player. If so then Indiana gets exactly what they need out of the trade, if they can put Stephen Jackson, Granger, Pietrus, Jermaine O'Neal, Austin Croshere, Troy Murphy, Anthony Johnson, jamaal Tinsley (whom they should trade imho), Sarunas Jaskicvicious in a very good rotation. Too bad they wouldn't have reggie miller still, then I'd consider them a contender.

    The Rose Bowl Thread

What gives you the idea he'll be better. He's playing with 3 NFL-caliber offensive linemen, and 2 NFL-level running backs to keep the defense INSANELY offense and an NFL-talent wide receiver...against a fast but not amazing defense. He had a -lot- of yards and good completion percentage, but he also made a bunch of mistakes early (when there was pressure before white got the ball more and kept the linebackers honest to the playaction) He COULD be better than that. And you act like career backup in the nfl is a bad thing, I'm saying it in a positive way. Wouldn't the Miami Dolphins kill for a solid guy like Dilfer, Kitna, old-time neil o'donnell, hell even charlie batch would have improved their team this year.

Palmer can also throw off-balance with snap. Leinart needs to step into throws to generate ball speed. An NFL quarterback will be making throws without optimal throwing space, that's why arm strength can be such a big deal (it tends to affect mid-range passes more than the deep ball, as you usually have time to throw the deep ball). Matt Leinart COULD end up a good career backup if he doesn't let everything go to his head. Trent Dilfer/Jon Kitna/Neil O'Donnell like player. Personally, I think Omar Jacobs and Jay Cutler are better prospects for starters in the NFL. Jacobs seemed to make good decisions everytime I watched him play (Though he dropped out of the shotgun a LOT)

    The Rose Bowl Thread

This is why I love Roethlisberger. He's not fast enough to think he can outrun anybody...but he is quick enough to make plays with his feet...and he's usually a great decision maker (Except for the game where he didn't realize he couldn't throw deep with his bad thumb).

    The Rose Bowl Thread

I don't really think it was poor coaching, but that they have jack shit at corner and linebacker. True...it's not so much the coaching as the ability of the players to a. make the correct reads. b. to make any type of athletic play. That last play just pissed me off so much from an unbiased observer's standpoint. They'd been getting burnt ALL NIGHT LONG with the flood receivers to the left roll left run back right zone read thing, and yet ALL of USC's players ran that direction. Just mind-boggling.

    The Rose Bowl Thread

QFT As I said earlier, much of Texas success is due to the horrible adjustment to the zone read play by USC, in addition to their poor recovery speed. Johnathan Vilma, James Farrior, Brian Urlacher, Ray Lewis, Zach Thomas. Those guys don't make mistakes like falling for that stupid ball fake, and they're gonna run Vince Young down and impale him on the ground. Then someone like Shaun Rogers is gonna bat down all his passes until he learns to hold the ball higher....the nfl and college game are just a world apart.

    The Rose Bowl Thread

I think that fumble in the first half got in his head and never got out. Add in the Texas defense was locked on him and you get the total. Bush has proven his major flaw, his breaking tackle skills are almost zero. From what I saw in the season he had a hell of a stiff arm. Lendale White's stiff arm on the thorpe defensive back of the year (The Texas safety) ... THAT was a fuckin stiff arm. I just worry about Bush in the nfl mentally. A. He made that pitch. B. He let it get into his head the rest of the game as well. Randle El did something stupid like that a couple months ago for the steelers...but the difference with him is he let it go immediately after, and managed to make a few good plays later in the game, and in the season.

    The Rose Bowl Thread

Reggie Bush did not look like a pro player out there. He should have cut upfield on that last run, the clock would have stopped with the first down spike it, kick the long field goal...or he does something amazing and scores a TD. Bush lost ALL of his confidence after the botched pitch play. Lendale White on the other hand, DID look like a pro player. Vince Young looked great...against a young and slow defense. I think it would have been...different against USC 2 years ago when Troy Polamalu was roaming the defensive backfield. Young is going to be an interesting pro, he's not going to be able to scramble like that in the pro's, he doesn't have the same type of foot speed that Vick has...but he may be a MUCH better passer already. I can't wait to see what team he goes to...and how they actually use them. Fun game, some bad coaching decisions especially on the last offensive drive. Carroll didn't gameplan the zone read play very well at all, either that or all his defensive players are dumbasses. Texas just kept running receiver flood plays and zone blocking schemes with playaction then Vince Young would run the opposite way. They needed to play a defensive end contain scheme and push young straight up the middle into a linebacker zone (Would have helped against the tight end in the middle of the field as well) Just poor defensive adjustments. So does VInce Young go to the nfl? I say he should, nothing left for him at this level.

    2006 NFL Off-Season

QFT Seriously...anyone with a tenth of a brain who knows something about football knows the Texans need offensive linemen. Badly. they also need a few defensive players...but i think they can improve that in the later rounds and with free agents. they need to trade the first overall pick to someone with multiple 1sts and/or 2nds and/or offensive linemen/defensive players. Domanick Davis is a GOOD running back, with great size and good durability/stamina. He is an nfl player, potential all-pro (Plus with johnathan wells as a backup, that isn't bad either) Hell, I'd contend that san fran doesn't need reggie bush either, and needs some o-line and defensive back help. The reality is if I were a bad team, I'd always go for QUANITY over the absolute best number 1 pick. One individual player can get hurt, or be a bust. 6 picks you're guarenteed at least one good-great player and maybe even a superstar.

    ESPN Insider...

That's what I'm looking for. the NBA -seems- to have tons of overseas scouting info and great trade rumors that you can't really find anywhere else. I just don't know how MUCH of it there is

    ESPN Insider...

Anybody that does have ESPN Insider: Is it worth the price. all the good NBA articles are insider stuff, but I don't know HOW much content you get with it. It certainly is no more expensive than a good magazine subscription...only with apparently tons more content. Between NFL, NBA, and College sports would it be worth my coin?

    Smackdown Spoilers

It seems to me that WWE's best booking/pushing job at this point in time...is being used with Melina. Everything they do with her seems to be working, she gets LOTS of Heat, and it rubs off the rest of her team well. I would have to say she's pretty close to being the top heel on smackdown at this point. I really like what they've done with her character, and it's strange how strongly they've booked her and have it actually WORK. or maybe I'm just crazy this morning

    NFL Year End Awards

I believe they call it the "I'm going to the pro bowl" award. other than that, all he's getting is a big fat "I play for an average nfc team that's going to go one and out in the playoffs so I don't deserve an award" award. but he is an awesome player, but the Giants are just gonna get worse as they play more games with less of their starting linebackers.

    This week in the NBA

Imagine how little coverage there'd be if it were the Jazz, Seattle or Milwaukee. they could go 69-2 and we wouldn't know they even had played a game yet We'd just hear about the slightly below .500 lakers and "Can Larry Brown get the Knicks above .250!!!"
