    OAO ECW Tuesday January 30th

Ladies and gentlemen...hats off your heads and onto your hearts...ECW is on life-support and Mr. McMahon is about to pull the plug. That's where this is headed with the originals getting shafted, jobbed out, or de-pushed. If Vince fired Hulk Hogan, there's no way that Balls, Dreamer, RVD, Sandman, or Sabu are going over on him.

    Admit It...

I was a fan of theirs before I knew of their work in Japan..."Dr. Death" from his days in the Mid-South and UWF and Hansen from his AWA and Georgia days. Too bad "Dr. Death" didn't have more charisma or he could have been HUGE here in the States.

    Admit It...

"Dr. Death" Steve Williams...I thought he was the baddest motherfucker alive. He wasn't flashy but he got the job done. Nikita Koloff...it might not have been PC to root for the "Russian Nightmare" but just the way he dismantled his opponents was cool to me back then. "The Franchise" Shane Douglas...I know a lot of people say the only reason he was over was due to profanity but Douglas made that character stick out apart from all the other extremists in ECW. "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer Stan "The Lariat" Hansen Bruiser Brody "Outlaw" Ron Bass

WON News + Notes, January 22nd Issue

Thanks for posting these. Konnan might have been overexposed back in WCW, but he has always been a solid wrestler and could always cut an above-average promo. Hopefully he won't be away too long...the LAX storyline is a good one and he really helps put them over as heels. TNA could pull off a women's division if it was focused on the wrestling and not on stupid shit like pillow fights and softcore porn that Vince gives us. They could utilize their agreement with New Japan and bring in some of their wrestlers as well. A live show would be tremendous for TNA...especially if they have a chance to win some new fans. Yes, there will always be the Kool-Aid drinking fans that think Vince is perfect and can't do anything wrong, but they have a chance to get some new fans on the 2/12 Impact. Maybe TNA can turn those events into something like the old Clash of the Champions.

WON News + Notes, Jan 15 Issue

CM Punk is another example of why Vince has his head up his ass. Vince doesn't like anyone he doesn't build up himself. If people know he was never going to give RVD a decent push, what makes people think he was going to give one to Punk? Next thing you know he's going to give Big Dick Johnson a Goldberg-esque push.

    Football Overtime

I like the format for OT in the NFL...it needs to be different as the NFL game is a bit different from the college game. However...if you have to switch...you move the start of play back a bit further. I think in OT in the NFL they should start at midfield...out of field goal range. More time taken for OT true...but this way it takes the conservative part out of things and then a coach has to open things up a bit to get a shot to win.

    Best beatdowns

I'm going to go oldschool here for some classic beatdowns. I remember in WCCW in '88 when Michael Hayes returned and the Freebirds wanted to come back together, but Michael said he refused to work with the Angel of Death. Later, Buddy Roberts, Terry Gordy, and the Angel jumped Hayes as he was performing in a live concert for the fans in the Sportatorium in Dallas. Ole and Arn Anderson beating the hell out of Manny Fernandez when they first started working together. Ole's former tag partner Thunderbolt Patterson comes to the rescue...the Andersons leave the ring, then come back and whip on T-bolt. A Four Horsemen beatdown on Ronnie Garvin...what made it entertaining was watching Garvin bounce around the ring taking on all four members of the Horsemen. Bobbing and weaving, knocking them down before they overpowered "The Hands of Stone."

New York City passes trans fat ban

Something's terribly fucking wrong with this picture. We have a movement of Islamism that wants us all either dead or praying to Mecca five times a day. Millions of illegal immigrants flood our borders every year and our politicians would rather get jerked off under the table by the corporations that hire them. But yet...we must be saved from our French fries?

    Worst Song(s) of 2006

This young guy I work with...don't know if he was trying to be funny or not...I was talking to my manager and he and I are Panic fans (Widespread Panic that is) and the guy asked if we liked the "I Write Sins" song...if I wasn't at work my boss and I would have thrown him out the window. "Promiscuous" is OK..."Maneater" really grates on me. I have this urge to do violent things when I hear that song. But I despise "A Public Affair"...Jessica Simpson really has no value other than just standing there and looking pretty.

    TSM Greatest Themes Thread

The Freebirds theme was awesome. At the gimmick battle royal when I heard it at WM 17...I was marking out like crazy. I liked the Midnight Express' first theme...fit their attitude perfectly. One that hasn't been mentioned here that I was big on was Shane Douglas' theme in ECW..."Perfect Strangers" by Deep Purple.

    Worked Angles...

Ric Flair and the Horsemen beating the hell out of Dusty Rhodes outside the parking lot of Jim Crockett Promotions offices. My friends and I went nuts to see Ole and Arn Anderson tying Rhodes to his pick-up truck and then smashing his hand. Michael Hayes dressed as Santa Claus sucker-punching Kevin Von Erich on Christmas night in Dallas' Reunion Arena. My brother was crying his eyes out...he couldn't believe Santa would to that. When Greg Valentine beat Tito Santana to win the IC title...and then a couple of weeks later we had Santana doing a promo from his hospital bed. Classic.

    Wrestling Shows....

In Kansas City in 1986-87...Channel 62 on Saturday mornings had a 6-hour block of wrestling...from 6 AM to noon. Started with UWF, then NWA, AWA, Central States, WWF, then World Class.

    WON News + Notes - November 13th

Crazy thought in my head...what if they pulled a massive swerve on us on January 1? Let's face it...Cena's pretty much hated and no matter what they've done to make him a fan fave it's not working. What if on 1/1 Cena swerves and teams up with K-fed? Perhaps have K-fed as his manager.

    Credit Cards...

Chase Visa...$5000 credit limit (We froze it after they tried to up it to $15K) Citibank Mastercard...$6000 credit limit (Again frozen) Kohl's Charge...$2500 credit limit Nebraska Furnituremart Charge...$5000 credit limit The wife and I just finished cutting up about four credit cards we never used...Discover, Key Bank Visa, Wal-Mart Mastercard, and our JC Penney's card (we cancelled it after they sent us a JC Penney's Mastercard with a $20K credit limit and we know we're never going to use that much credit). Something to be weary of (I work in the credit card industry)...it's nice to have that extra credit, but too many cards sitting idle with all that available credit can be as damaging to applying for extra credit as if you went crazy and charged everything up. With all of it sitting idle, they see you as potentially being able to get into that much trouble. So if you have 10 cards with a shitload of available credit, might be time to cut some of those cards out.

    Jarrett Interview

I've always been a fan of Jarrett in the ring...going back to his days in Memphis. He might not be the best businessman at times when it comes to the product, but he's no dummy. He makes some solid points, even though a lot of folks might automatically refer to him as full of it because they don't like what he does in the ring and behind the scenes with office politics. The most interesting thing I pulled away from this was his take on how they're in the walking stage. Everyone seems to be so gung-ho about TNA needs to compete with WWE now, etc. I think part of this was the reason WCW went in the toilet so spectacularly as it did. Just build up slowly, do your own thing and this way they stay under Vince's radar.

    What would you do

I'll try not to be repetitive here and come up with a couple of different ideas. 1. Do Clash of the Champions-type shows...one every 3 months. This going on the assumption they are cutting back on PPVs...you can have them in a month where a PPV won't be on. 2. Longer matches...at first you slowly build them up and gradually the fans will buy into a longer match. Look back to the days of Flair-Steamboat when they could go 45-60 minutes and the fans ate it up. A good number of wrestlers on today's roster I think have the ability to go that long if they wanted to. This way you can make the jobbers look a bit more respectable also and marketable to an extent. 3. Occasional title changes on house shows. Remember the days when they used to promote the idea, "Anything can happen?" The house shows don't mean as much anymore...the fans don't get into them as much and attendance is down. Seeing a WWE title change at a house show can ignite that feeling again that anything is possible.

    Your Favorite TNA Wrestler

Joe-Homicide in ROH was gold also. If they ever decided to turn Homicide into a singles wrestler and expand the LAX angle...he'd be a great ME heel.

    Best Wrestling Quotes...

No lovefest for the Enforcer could be complete without this line... "The only time this much havoc has been wreaked by this few people - you need to go all the way back to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse."

Quotes from 2006! Help me with more!

Foley before kissing Vince McMahon's ass..."I'm then going to get a really big bottle of mouthwash....then...I'm going to buy a big bottle of booze, go back to my hotel room and pretend this night never happened!"

ALDS: Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees

I think the air-raid sirens are going to be going off in New York. Steinbrenner is about to nuke his team to bits and start over. It'll be like in Animal House..."TORRE...GONE! CASHMAN...GONE! K/E/A-ROD...GONE!"

    Announcers protecting kayfabe...

Along those lines...announcers from previous organizations that have amnesia when they came to the WWF/E. A prime example...Rod Trongard in the late '80s (former AWA announcer) saying on an episode of Prime Time Wrestling, "I have never seen the Rockers".

Bible groups plan to protest The Amish murder victims' funerals

I think I read somewhere about 100-150 members...most of them are his family through blood or marriage. This quote on the church through its link in Wikipedia... "Phelps does not permit Westboro members to marry persons outside the church. As relatively few individuals have joined Westboro, there have been at least two marriages between the Phelps and Hockenbarger clans, resulting in some members having dual genealogical relationships (one member is both the aunt and sister-in-law of another)." He's certifiable, to say the least.

Bible groups plan to protest The Amish murder victims' funerals

I would not lose any sleep if we sent these lowlifes to the Middle East and let the Islamo-fascists lop off their heads in the name of Allah. It might be the only redeeming thing they ever do.

    WarGames

The TV title was one of my faves...especially back when the rule was the champ always defended it whenever he wrestled on TV. Don't forget that the NWA had a Brass Knuckles title at one time also.
