    White Sox/Red Sox ALDS Thread

Funny how the Red Sox go from fan fave to heel so damn fast, lol. Last year most of the country wanted to see the Red Sox end the "curse"...now we can't wait to get rid of them and throw them under the bus.

20 Ways To Mess With Telemarketers

For me...my wife has her own name still and most telemarketers are almost guaranteed to not get it right...so I can pretend she's not there. As for me, I listen to the sales pitch and then tell them, "One problem...they always expect me to pay on time." Or, "How much will you pay me to sample this product, this way I can give an honest portrayal of your product."

    WWE's Direction:

The split has been a joke from day one. It would have worked out great if they actually took the time and pains to make both shows of a quality that they were worth watching at the same time. When RAW has been up, Smackdown has been in the shitter. When Smackdown is doing great, RAW blows chunks. Also...the idea was to give more TV time to the wrestlers and give them a chance to break through. The only ones that have really gotten developed and the real chance to shine as far as being new are Batista, Cena, Brock, and JBL. Not a hell of a great track record over the last three years. Of course, there would be a huge purging of the roster if the split ends unless they keep both shows. Even then a lot of talent would head for the door.

    Kevin Von Erich

To me, Kevin Von Erich was always a very underrated star...he was the 2nd best of the Von Erich clan IMHO right after David. One of my earlier wrestling memories was watching WCCW highlights of Michael Hayes dressed as Santa Claus sucker-punching Kevin on Christmas night in Dallas at Reunion Arena. My younger brother started bawling at the sight of Santa opening up a can of whoop-ass on Von Erich.

    Thought about the Flair/HHH feud

Any WCW-ECW idea that Vince has taken has been stomped on, drawn and quartered, hung, poisoned, left to die and then came back later to burn the remains. The NWO made into a laughing stock, FBI (made anyone embarrassed to be an Italian), etc. The Four Horsemen need to just stay a great memory of wrestling's past, because you know Vince and Hunter will fuck it up.

Venison burgers=ratings. Plus, most of the heads and points on the deer that get stuffed I turn around and sell to rich folk who come for the hunting and want to pretend that they actually caught something. I started doing that back in high school when my uncle and I had gone over our limit. These millionaires from California wanted to take some deer heads home with them, so we had a couple of them stuffed and sold them. No one has to know.

And I use the entire deer...the meat for food. The fur can make excellent gloves, lining, etc. Besides, if we didn't do this, the overpopulation would become a major issue. More and more we see deer that overpopulate to the point where we see them in the cities looking for food. And if a deer is feeling threatened, it will attack a person I've seen it happen.

I JUST SAID I RIDE MY FUCKIN' BIKE, JESUS! Okay, you're a real man's man, if that's what you want us to tell you. Congratulations on the antlers of the deer you killed. Unless it was gonna hit a car I was in, I don't really give a shit. How can you be at one with nature? You're picking nature off. Wanna be one with nature? Run around the woods naked, wrestling bears. Don't say you can't. I bet Agent Of Oblivion has, and won. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not asking for anyone to justify my being a man...I'm comfortable enough in my manhood that I don't need anyone here justifying it. And I have a very deep respect and concern for the environment. Contrary to the very biased view of many, we are in the outdoors regularly. We hold a very deep and honest appreciation for all that is outdoors. We're more alike to the PETA-types than people believe. If you think I'm a murderer, so be it. I'm not going to lose sleep tonight over it.

LMAO...I had to expect this. I have to wonder how many anti-hunting people feel though their idea of being at one with nature is sitting on the couch, smoking pot and watching National Geographic, lol. BTW...caught a 10-point buck today.

    This Week in Baseball

Bottom of the 12th...White Sox and Cleveland still tied at 1. Wow...this is awesome baseball now, been easy to get into it although my team has had their spot wrapped up for 2 weeks now.

    This Week in Baseball

And if anyone gives a flying leap...San Diego attempts to avoid being the first team to finish below .500 in baseball and make the playoffs. They are scoreless with the Dodgers in the bottom of the 3rd...needing two wins to have a winning season.

    Good ways to relieve anger.......

I'm laughing so fucking hard right now I'm crying...reading this post alone would be enough to keep anyone from going postal. But I suppose if nothing else...put the name of whoever is pissing you off on a heavy punching bag and beat the shit out of it. Or in my case...skeet shooting always seems to work as I imagine I'm blowing away the person that I'm mad at.

    Yankees-Red Sox Thread

Probably the same folks that do the tiebreakers in the NFL...or maybe they also moonlight on the side working on the BCS?

Weis Grants Dying Boy's Last Wish

I have to agree...even though I hate Notre Dame with every ounce of my being. To do that for a child can make people realize that there is a lot of good people and good things about sports and hopefully make us forget for a second about the roiders, wife-beaters, and murderers.

    Roberts becomes Chief Justice

This wasn't as earth-shattering as everyone was making it out to be. Rehnquist's death made it a no-brainer and a no-stresser really...a conservative for a conservative. The main event is coming folks...when O'Connor's replacement is named by the Dubya. That's when the blood and the partisanship flows as that will be the one that shapes the court for the next generation.

    Congratulate me.

I remember when my wife and I got engaged we decided to move in together a year before the wedding. Our fathers...didn't care. Our mothers...CARED! To this day I still hear it every once in a while from my mom..."I hope your children wait to get married before living with their significant others!" Congrats, Tyler...marriage may not always be the hell the spurned say it is...or the paradise the fairy-talers think it is...it's somewhere in the middle.

    Wrestlers Being Pricks

As a wrestling fan for over 25 years now I've had a lot of experiences with wrestlers that were cool and then those that were absolute jack-offs. JACK-OFFS Oscar, the manager of "Men on a Mission"...ran into him the afternoon of a house show in Des Moines at a downtown clothing store. I say "Oscar, what's up?" He gave me and my friends the dirtiest look...and the funny thing Oscar wouldn't look more than 12 years old if you took off that mustache of his, lol. A jobber-manager that used to work in Central States named Sheik Abdullah the Great. I went to a show in Kansas City where he wrestled Harley Race and if Race didn't beat him twice in 10 minutes he'd retire. Race won and Abdullah was cussing out a bunch of people out in the parking lot outside Municipal Auditorium. A bit of kayfabe going too far IMHO. Kevin "Big Sleepy" Nash- we ran into him at a strip club after a WCW Nitro...he acted like he couldn't be bothered with anyone other than the ladies vying for his attention. COOL STORIES Harley Race...few years ago he brought his WLW wrestling show to Des Moines for a show at a local movie theater. Afterwards at a local club we ran into him with his wrestlers. He sat at our table with me and a few other people and we all talked old-school wrestling until closing time and even for almost another hour or so outside after closing time. Bulldog Bob Brown...the first autograph I ever got from a wrestler...was at a house show in Wichita, Kansas. I was nervous as hell but he took time to sign and get a picture with me as well. RIP to the Bulldog. The Rock...went to the RAW the night after Summerslam '99 (the night Triple H won the title from Foley). I got to go with one of my wife's clients (she does home health care and one of them was a 10-year-old boy with MS who had tickets down front for RAW but his father was too ill to attend.) It was my reward for going with her to a concert I freaking hated (the things I have to do for the pseudo-sport I know and love). Rock made fun of a sign I had made saying, "I Smelled What The Rock Was Cooking And Called Domino's!" He notices the boy and winks at him. However, after the show as we were waiting for the crowd to dissipate enough to get out to our car without having to step or roll over everyone to do so, someone from the back with the WWF comes out and says that we are being invited to the back. We head back and it turns out the Brahma Bull himself invited us to come backstage. We get to talk to guys like Jericho, Foley, etc. Rock treated the little guy like a king and in the end gave him an autograph, program, and some other stuff.

Dixie Says Break Even Point is Near

Right now TNA is still trying to feel its way around and get its footing. The last thing it needs to do is jump into competition with Vinnie Mac. The sleeping giant would wake up and crush TNA into dust. It's just so funny that all people want to say since TNA got their TV deal done is "When are they competing with WWE?" TNA needs to just do their own thing right now and maybe down the road consider removing the glove and pistols at 10 ratings points. Another thing...you know Vince is going to look at the talent at TNA and think..."Which of them would fit into my company?" Right now, TNA is still a stepping stone to some who might decide to want to make the leap to WWE. TNA will need to be able to keep the pipelines flowing with new talent. And in reverse...TNA will need to eventually get to the point that WWE talent not being used properly may decide to look with longing eyes to Dixie's company. So, that the next time a Jericho or an RVD or Christian's contract is up for renewal it's not a slam dunk to re-up with Vince.

    This Week in Baseball

Carpenter's stats as of today: 21-5 Record 2.83 ERA 213 Strikeouts 51 Walks 1.06 WHIP (Walks & Hits Per Innings Pitched) 26-7 Team record in games he started, including a 16-0 stretch from June 14-September 13 (13-0 personal decisions for him with 3 No Decisions) Willis' stats as of today: 22-10 Record 2.59 ERA 158 K 53 Walks 1.12 WHIP 22-11 Team record in games started As a Cardinals fan...the numbers Carpenter put up are enough to nail down Cy for him this year...that and the Cardinals are in the playoffs. In fact, it will be a travesty if Carpenter doesn't win the Cy and Pujols doesn't win the MVP.

Dixie Says Break Even Point is Near

The Jarretts and Dixie have built up to this point...they have their TV deal and so far the ads Spike has run are good. They are making TNA out to be a totally different alternative to what the WWE is and that's what is going to make people tune in. I'm obviously looking forward to TNA as it has been really four years since wrestling has had alternative options available on a major cable network. Now's the time for TNA to get the first-class treatment by having Spike go all out and give it every chance to succeed.

    This Week in Baseball

As a Cardinals fan I have high hopes this year...just so long as they don't stay in neutral come playoff time. It's easy to just ride out the rest of the year when you're set but they'll have to remember to turn it back on. As for the Cy...Dontrelle can have it next year...this is Chris Carpenter's year. I hope the Yankees don't make the playoffs for two reasons...1. More shots at the Cards getting prime-time playoff games since the Yanks always seem to get them. 2. The entertainment value alone of watching Steinbrenner go nuclear on his ballclub, especially if the Red Sox eliminate them at the end of the season.

This Week in College Football 9/21 - 9/24

First, Iowa...then the BS (missing a letter on purpose). That game sucked...and after the game both Tate and Ferentz went into near-meltdown in the post-game media blood-letting. Not to mention Tate's little temper tantrum during the game should have gotten his ass yanked and put on the bench to pout. This team looks like a far cry from the team people were expecting to contend for the national championship. As for the BCS...eventually we have to have a playoff system. It makes sense to let all teams in college football have a shot. The problem is the bowls, the conferences, the chambers of commerce that run the bowls...they don't want to give up all the money they make off the bowl games. A playoff means more money for the NCAA. Hell...it could make more money than March Madness or the Super Bowl could ever make. This thing about not letting the playoffs go into January and shit is BS. They play the bowl games on New Year's Day and beyond, meaning the kids stay in practice through the end of the fall semester. 1-AA does an 11-game schedule and a 16-team playoff, done before Christmas. And the NCAA just Ok'd a 12th game to be added to the schedule...that also takes away from study time? But they don't think about that, it's all about the Benjamins.
