  1. Attempting a "clothesline from hell" on Nowinski. The problem isn't with dangerous moves. It's with the limiting of movesets, which makes wrestlers second-guess every move they do - resulting in sloppiness.
  2. 1. Goldberg retains at Survivor Series. 2. Kane injures and puts away Shane for a while. 3. Kane interferes in the UT/Vince match and puts away UT for the time being...Kane thus becomes a protege of Vince, and gets the shot at Goldberg at Armageddon.
  3. That's how YOU reacted to those injuries. Although I've have had a portion of those injuries, I reacted to them the same way you did. But compound those injuries over a 15-year career. Add neck injuries...back injuries...the lack of time to relax, because you're working for financial gain. ... NOW you're a professional wrestler.
  4. Taking the easy way out. Thanks for the insightful comments, Lord Master. What would we ever do without you? Play a fucking sport. See what happens. For a guy who played football and basketball for a long chunk of his life (both recreationally and in high school), I know with all the pain I endured, I have NOTHING against professional athletes.
  5. The success of the WWF was handed to him? If it wasn't for Vince McMahon, this "professional wrestling" wouldn't be anything more than a two-bit operation run by his father. Hulk Hogan was larger than life. Vince was smart enough to reel him away from Vern Gagne - tell me that's just "dumb luck". Then what DID make Austin a fan favorite? Why did MILLIONS of fans during that time watch WWF TV? Right, because the faith to give him entire promos week after week (without any set script), while making him the top antagonist to Austin was...yes, once again, just "dumb luck". And...by only thing he's ever created, you mean Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar, right? 6 of these wrestlers don't even fit Vince's vision of a credible "main eventer". They were all under-sized when they're originally pushed to the top, and they all got over due to their workrate. People clamored for the Ultimate Warrior in the title chase in 1992. What did we get instead? Bret Hart. People clamored for Lex Luger and Yokozuna when in the title chase in 1994. What did we get instead? Bret Hart. People clamored for the Undertaker, Sid and Kevin Nash when in the title chase in 1996. What did we get instead? Shawn Michaels. People clamored for the Undertaker, Triple H and Austin when in the title chase in 2000. What did we get instead? Kurt Angle.
  6. My solution: Keep all PPVs. If there's any revenue that wrestlers relish, it's this. Add to that, the PPV deals McMahon has in place, that would screw him "ten ways from Sunday" if he reneged. Before the brand-split PPVs, let the brand without a PPV have two weeks off. Give their show (for that time) to the brand who HAS the PPV slot, so they get better build.
  7. So, we'd have three-four people left for each show then, huh? Actually, Van Dam would have to wrestle himself for two hours, three times a week. It's possible.
  8. Angle went around doctor's orders to wrestle that last match. It was out of Vince's hands to do anything but suspend him, but considering this was less than two weeks from the PPV, he had his hands tied. EDIT: You meant Hunter's groin injury, I think. Nevermind.
  9. They already have that. Example: Pillman went around that, and used his heart condition to overprescribe drugs from different places. They only work through minor injuries. When neck, leg and back problems arise, Vince gives them the appropriate time to recover.
  10. How do you prevent wrestlers from using painkillers? That's usually 90% of where the addictions start.
  11. Read...
  12. Who would fund the wrestlers on their off-seasons? Vince loses MILLIONS if he takes time off for any period. Let's see... --live gates --house show gates. --merchandising. --PPV buyrates. --PPV contracts. --television contracts. --sponsorship deals. --overseas fanbase. --media revenue.
  13. There are THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of ex-baseball players. Track them all, bro. Let's see the ratio. Not only that, but comparing professional wrestling to baseball in terms of pain is fucking ridiculous. THATS WHY THEY NEED MORE TIME OFF TO REST! ...if you do't get WHY there's no off-season already, there's no worth trying to convince you. If you think small promotions can survive a vacation, open one up. See what happens. Your entire fanbase goes away just because there's SOMETHING ELSE to pique their interest. Hate to tell you this, but wrestling fans have SHORT attention spans. I know, I know, it's mind-blowing.
  14. There are THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of ex-baseball players. Track them all, bro. Let's see the ratio. Not only that, but comparing professional wrestling to baseball in terms of pain is fucking ridiculous.
  15. Most sports give you a "third strike" policy, simply because they want to keep their stars generating revenue, instead of staying at home.
  16. As much as you think that's going to allow wrestlers to "heal up", you don't have a clue as to why wrestlers have a hard time leaving the business in the first place. It's the rush of being "out there", and if they're not "out there", they'll turn to demons to suppress their depression and/or loneliness. You think most of these wrestlers have families, considering they're on the road for 10+ years? I haven't either factored in the fanbase that would be driven away after a long vacation. Would I come back to see the WWE after a two-month vacation? Yes, but that thought process is only limited to the hardcore fan. You drive away the casual fans, and the company (most specifically the roster) is fucking screwed. Whoo! More releases and more drug problems resulting because of depression! Thanks
  17. GEE, how about suggestions? Tell me where you'd cut corners? Is it cutting down the amount of tour dates, because Vince has already down that numerous times over the last 10+ years (from 275+ shows, to approximately 200 or less), and that STILL hasn't done much to help.
  18. Considering they're not under Vince's watch, why should he be held responsible for them? --Should Vince be responsible for how A.J. Styles lives his life? --Should Vince open up a post-WWE center for all of the workers he's released or retired? Fact is, they work a MUCH more grueling schedule than any professional athlete out there. Four shows a week + driving to shows the rest of the week + no lag between international tours + no off-season = digging an early grave. Add that to the pressure to stay at the top of their game (not just physically, but in body form), and you can see why drugs becomes a big part of their life early on.
  19. Junkyard. Owen. Andre. Apologies for reeling a list off like this - definitely not treating it as a statistic.
  20. I'm in complete shock.
  21. On a pure overall standpoint, none of these wrestlers (save Foley) could get me as intensely prepared for a match as Flair could. The Hart brothers told a story in the ring, but that was sometimes not all of it. Owen was simply Dynamite with a better character and psychological work, but he still trails Flair. Dynamite glosses over an entire portion of being a great OVERALL worker - the mic work and promo ability.
  22. Wasn't it the other way around? I think it was a Buckhouse Stampede or some kind of money battle royal. I think it was JJ Dillion, Flair, Arn, Luger as the last survivors and it seemed like they made a deal to jump out of the ring at the same time so they could split the winnings but Luger had ideas of his own and threw out everybody to win the match. Yes, but on a little correction, he only threw out the last person remaining in the ring, JJ Dillon. Everybody (Tully, Arn and luger) agreed to eliminate themselves to give Dillon the win, but Luger changed his mind at the last minute. And it was Tully, not Flair. Flair came out later to help out with the attack on Luger.
  23. That's about $32 million in salary - that's a huge chunk of cash, especially considering Castilla (4 million per) and Reynolds ($3 mil) are gone too. I see Lopez definitely moving on, with Sheffield being a 60/40 chance getting him back...and again, I don't see Maddux leaving. Total team salary: $99,195,593 Lopez, Maddux, Sheffield: $32,750,000
  24. Atlanta won't let Maddux go. If they paid $15 million for him last year, they'll pay a smaller price to keep him on board.
