By the way I missed part of Raw, what was the deal with the Divas match? A bed covered in water balloons or something?
-
On one hand I see the logic of having your biggest face on the debut show. But I thought WWE said they were going with NEW fans with ECW? A long-term Raw vs. ECW fued is an awful idea. So much for establishing a new identity...they are dangerously close to having ECW just be a generic third WWE brand. Edit: That was a terrible promo by Cena. Hopefully Edge can move to ECW as a top heel. I think Edge is very underrated. Every match Edge is in is a fun match. He even made Cena/HHH/Edge tolerable. And him winning the title was the best WWE moment of the past 18 months or so. He's not the greatest ever but his matches are entertaining, which is far more than I can say for Cena, HHH or HBK.

Oh God...are they really going to put Raw and ECW at war for the long run? What a terrible mistake. It's just going to be Raw, Smackdown and Smackdown Jr...

This is the best main event I've ever seen!

Ha Ha Lita with the Star Trek sound effect. Too good. You show those nerds. I wonder if Edge is going to move to ECW? He's willing to do hardcore stuff and he is "Rated R" after all. --- As far as Flair is concerned, he needs to be carried. His matches with guys who can't carry him (Carlito, Masters) have been god-awful. His Edge match was good because of Edge, not because of Flair. Maybe Foley can carry Flair...Flair is probably the most overrated wrestler of all time, or one of them anyway. Sure the crowd gets behind him but most of his matches these days are just painful to watch, as a worker he's not any better than Snitsky these days.

Sounds good to me NoCal.

Sarcasm...sarcasm...

If they actually keep the title on RVD for a while that would be a bad move IMO. ECW will do best if it separates itself from WWE and is presented as a real alternative. Continuously having crossover PPVs and things like that would just be bad. ECW needs it's own identify and that isn't going to happen if ECW and Raw trade the same belt back and forth.

What I have learned from the last few pages of this thread is that the entire point of existence of ECW is wrapped up in one Metallica song that anyone can download for free, or at worst case buy for $12.99. Who would have thought an entire promotion could be based on one 4 minute song? Maybe I'll just fire up my "Apocalyptica plays Metallica" CD...look I just made an entire wrestling promotion obsolete with my exciting new tech called "a CD player."

You guys are hilarious. What really matters is what happens on Tuesday night, the debut of ECW on Sci-Fi. That is their chance to establish their own identity. Of course Cena was going to be booked strong. You guys born yesterday? This was a mixed WWE/ECW event, so yes it had a lot of WWE in it. The question is what will happen in a solely ECW event. We'll find out in 2 days. So all the "OMG ECW IS DEAD TO ME NOW" can just hold up a couple of days. Something is on it's deathbed when it hasn't even started yet? Show at least a tiny bit of patience.

Gay marriage destroys the sanctity of marriage itself. We need to leave marriage in the capable hands of those who can truly respect it - like Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards. Edit: Slippery slope arguments are ALWAYS worthless, without fail. You can construct a slippery slope argument for or against anything. "If we allow marriage, what next? (Not gay marriage, all marriage) Men marrying sheep? Let's not go down that slippery slope!" Anything anyone does can always be construed as a step towards something bad. "Where do you stop?" That's for us as a society to decide. It makes ZERO sense to be against something not because that thing is bad, but because it might put you on the path towards something bad. When you get to that point just say no.

People need to read Jose Canseco's book. A lot of people are WAY WAY behind on performance enhancing substances. Stuff like steroids make you brittle, or pitchers don't use because their muscles get short and tight - that information is 20 years old. There are all kinds of different steroids and other performance enhancers out there that do all sorts of things. They don't all turn you into Mr. Universe. Cyclists will abuse things that give them a higher density of red blood cells. Steroids can make you bigger but they can also make you come back from injury faster and help you avoid every day wear and tear. It's INSANE to think that the NFL isn't full of performance enhancing substances. You have guys that weigh 250 pounds and are fast as hell. The game has gotten a lot bigger, stronger and faster. That's not just guys eating their spinach. Drugs are always ahead of detection methods, and drugs today are very sophisticated. With the amount of money at stake you'd almost be a fool not to be using something.

Of course there are going to be three belts in the end. Having just 2 and having ECW have one of them would be moronic. You can't have 2 belts spread across 3 totally different shows. How would someone from Raw ever have a chance to get the belt back, another cross-promotional PPV?

The best performances of this decade
randomguy replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Television & Film
Too lazy to dig up pictures. Walton Goggins AKA Shane Vendrell from The Shield. Julian McMahon AKA Christian Troy from Nip/Tuck. Both of these guys have a couple things in common. One is that they don't simply play themselves. Second is that they simply ARE their character onscreen, all the time. Nip/Tuck is just an OK show but Julian McMahon really stands out head and shoulders above the rest of the cast. -
Wow, this thread really brings out the stupid in people. How many more of you retards are going to jump on the "puny humans just want to see Hulk smash!" bandwagon! There is some sort of lesson in reading comprehension buried here - maybe it's try reading what people are saying instead of inventing random shit.

Friday at 8 is pretty awful, even people like me sometimes have better things to do on a Friday night.
-
Again, that isn't the complaint people have. As a drama the Hulk was very mediocre. The characters were poorly realized, the dialog was bad, the acting was bad. As I mentioned before, Hulk:Ground Zero could have a good story. There are really only about 2 or 3 action sequences in the whole 6-comic trade-paperback. It has a lot of human elements and drama. The story they chose to tell in Hulk the movie didn't have much in terms of plot or characterization. And you have to have one of those two things.

How many of these guys don't use HGH. And why all the focus on baseball. I'm sure in football the majority of the players use some sort of crazy shit.

I like how Heyman says it's lame that TNA constantly derides WWE, then we hear that on TNA recently they had guys talking about how they turned down WWE contracts. TNA just makes themselves look like the snot-nosed kid brother when they do stuff like that.
-
There is a happy medium between Hulk ripping shit apart for 2 hours and a talky boring mess. (With fucking awful CGI to boot) How about a Hulk movie based on Hulk:Ground Zero. (The story where Hulk gets blown up at the end and comes back as Mr. Fixit) That's a story with some depth and action.

Why? Not trying to be an ass, just curious. How was Soundgarden important?

May was at least somewhat funny. I liked his bit about the dress. "Bitch, that's a hole!" Dat Phan was painful. "I'm Asian." That was the sum of his material.

This has been a good smackdown so far, I liked Kendrick vs. Crazy a lot. Lashley v Regal was also good, and the graphic of Lashley vs. Regal with King Booker behind Regal was classic. Unfortunately I have to take the bus home, so I can't watch the rest.

They existed. Which is really good enough.
