www.iwamswrestling.com BREAKING NEWS - NEW IWA LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION « Thread started on: Today at 4:43pm » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have breaking news for IWA Mid-South Wrestling fans tonight, August 11th, as a new IWA Light Heavyweight Champion was crowned just moments ago! Jimmy Jacobs scored the pinfall following the Contra Code in his IWA Light Heavyweight Title shot against Delirious tonight at the Evansville Coliseum in Evansville, IN, and is your new IWA Light Heavyweight Champion! For those unaware, Ian Rotten has been the matchmaker for Coliseum Championship Wrestling for the past several months. CCW runs weekly events every Wednesday night at the Coliseum, and has featured previous IWA Light Heavyweight and World Heavyweight Title defenses (by former champions like Matt Sydal and BJ Whitmer). Tonight, history was made as Jimmy Jacobs earned the belt on a non-IWA event! Jacobs will now defend his newly won title in a rematch against Delirious on 8/21 in Highland, IN at the Lincoln Center for IWA. This is Jacobs' first IWA title reign. Hopefully, I get to be there to see Delirious regain the title on the 21st.

New IWA-MS Lightheavyweight Champion

As far as I know he still has the morsel of zesty goodness that is Becky Bayless. Haven't heard any different anyway. -
How do you think WWE will end the Kane/Lita angle?
Slingshot Suplex replied to DerangedHermit's topic in The WWE Folder
I love the idea that it's Dean-O Machine-O but are there any casual fans still left from 2000 that would remember the whole Malenko- Lita story? -
OK I'm not a huge, widescope indy follower. I followed the Detroit indys when I was there and I follow GCW and IWA-MS (mostly because of the ex-GCW representation there) and ROH and the some west Tennessee stuff on a lesser scale. I was having this conversation with someone who's been in the biz and the topic of Hero vs Dragon on the 21st came up. I made a comment that so many of the indys seem more match based rather than storyline based that everybody now just seems to be trying to outdo each other for indy dream matches. It seems like many of the same bigger name indy guys in 2004 work all the major promotions and to a guy like me, you might as well stick them all in a blender and mix em. I know ROH used to have the #1 contender's trophy ( I don't know if they still do) and seem to have placed more of an emphasis on angles in 2003 and 04. IWA-MS seems like they've pretty much ditched angles for 2004. It just seems like 2004 has been the year of "Ok we've got this dream match this month...let's see what the other guys do and how can we top it?" This isn't even a complaint. We've gotten some great matches out of it. Merely an observation and I figured I'd throw it out here.

I thought they were talking about this years ago? They wanted the wrestlers to project a more professional image in public. I can see where it would be an annoyance but I don't see the big deal

How do you think WWE will end the Kane/Lita angle?
Slingshot Suplex replied to DerangedHermit's topic in The WWE Folder
Kane marries Lita. Matt goes away. In a few months, Kane and Lita begin a spousal abuse angle. Kane chokeslams her once. He goes for a 2nd and she is rescued by a returning Matt and we find out it really was Matt's baby all along but she lost the baby because of the chokeslam. Matt and Kane fight again...Matt probably wins. Somewhere in the middle of this there could be a Ricki Lake " Three Way Dance.....Who Got In Them Pants" episode. Or instead of Matt making the save, it's a returning Austin in the same role but to a bigger pop and even bigger irony. Somewhere in this angle is the new catchphrase Austin 3:16 I Just Knocked You Up. And the mentioned Vince/ Genetic Jackhammer is a good possibility too since I don't think Vince has had his tongue down Lita's throat yet . Onscreen anyway. -
If it's what I think it is, MsChif's version is called the Darkness Embrace.

I wonder what he did with that poster anyway? -
I just met Bobby Eaton briefly at a show in western Tennessee a couple weekends ago and he seemed like a nice man. Anyway, if this is a Saturday, looks like I might have to road trip for this.

I guess it would work for a show locally in Britain. The only reason I clicked on the thread was because I didn't know who Danny Williams was and I was curious as to why some guy I hadn't heard of showing up on RAW was "news."

Cool/Historic Stuff You've Seen Live
Slingshot Suplex replied to Boner Kawanger's topic in General Wrestling
Sure, it was cool and you did see it live. Anybody in the concourse should mention it. That and the Balls Mahoney thing in Toledo with the kid. I saw the Dudleys destroy Public Enemy at the first or one of the first ECW shows in Michigan. I saw Tex Monroe set a car on fire with a flaming branding iron and the Detroit fire department showing up when it was a-blazing. I saw Rick Matrix scam me out of $40. I saw the Punk/ Joe match in Dayton live as well. Great, great match -

I guess these would be mine too then Plus Wrestlemania 3 the Survivor Series where Big Show wins the title (1999?) the house show where Ron Garvin won the NWA belt from Flair I know there has to be more but I'm drawing a blank for the historical stuff. -

Hopefully, I get to night 2 at least. And Cannon has to be the front runner at this point. Petey Williams is so non -descript to me, I can't see him coming out of it with the title. -
Eugene going over HHH at Summerslam?
Slingshot Suplex replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in The WWE Folder
That's what I was saying.....if Eugene turns heel and suddenly isn't a simpleton, then Bischoff would have to be in on the scam since they are related. -

A Eugene heel turn should probably also include Bischoff being in on the "retard ruse" -
If so much of TNA's audience is internet based, then bringing Joe in as part of a stereotypical Samoan team with a guy that is seen as several notches below him is a waste of talent. And the ROH audience that might be willing to watch Joe in TNA is going to be instantly turned off by how he's being used.

The Horsemen attacking the Rock n Roll Express in the dressing room and ,subsequently, Flair grinding Morton's face into the floor. That was fairly disturbing for the time.

Why is Val wearing lipstick and ripping a big one? The first thing I thought was " If Resident Evil were set in a health spa's sauna" -
If they want to do a 'History of the WWF/E championship, Bruno HAS to be a part of it. The man was champion for something like a decade's worth of time. They can't start it with Pedro Morales' title win over Ivan Koloff after all. I don't think a Bruno DVD would sell well though. It's been almost 25 years since Bruno's last noteworthy portion of his career (Zybysko feud). The current fans won't care enough to buy it. I'm old and I'd even have doubts about buying it. I'd probably get it for the historical ascpects of it but what little I've seen of actual Sammartino matches did nothing for me.

You are so much righter than you may even realize. I can't go into specific details and names but D-Ray being on ppv basically because he has an afro has pissed off some other wrestlers who haven't been given the shot on the ppvs despite being relegated to XPlosion for over a year. Names that a lot of the people on this board would like to see make the ppvs.

Anchorman- The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Slingshot Suplex replied to DMann2003's topic in Television & Film
Considering it looked like total shit from the previews... I'm not surprised by the lack of critical praise. -
Truth Martini was predominantly a Michigan indy guy a few years ago. I think he's gotten a bit more exposure in other feds the last year or so. In terms of a "Truth" gimmick, he didn't really have a gimmick when I saw him..maybe that changed after Killings got well known? I don't know.

"Iron Man" was awesome for a ring entrance. An ominous feeling from the song and then these two monsters come down the aisle to the ring. And for sheer audience interaction. "Teenage Dirtbag" is up there.
