The Julian Tavarez as a starter era has ended. Jon Lester was called up and will start tommorow against Cleveland with Tavarez headed back to the pen. Tavarez was giving them 3 great innings out there before getting schallacked in the middle innings so he should do better this year out of the pen then he did last year. This just makes it all the more curious as to whom gets kicked out of the rotation when Schilling is ready. Beckett and Dice-K are locks in the rotation, they said when they did decide to bring Lester back up it would be for good, Gabbard has been throwing lights out, and Wakefield hates pitching out of relief.

With the season over halfway in the books now I thought we could all discuss what we would like to see our teams do. Realistic moves of course. With the Red Sox all I think they need is another quality bullpen arm and some bench depth. Wily Mo needs to be moved on and I don't wanna see Joel Piniero anymore. Not true as I've said I never believed Ichiro had a chance of ending up in Boston either when those rumors started to swirl. I don't understand where your "rumors" come from though. I never heard a thing about Ichiro in Boston, or Oswalt for that matter. I read the Boston papers online every morning and post over at Sons of Sam Horn and I don't hear 1/10 of the things that you often reference in your posts. The Ichiro thing was at the start of the year when the media threw out the fact that he was going to be a free agent and he was real good friends with Dice-K. That along with how I guess at one point a Manny for Ichiro deal had actually been discussed. Do you listen to WEEI? They interview alot of inside source type people (Ken Rosenthal for baseball and Adam Schefter for football along with others) so I get some stuff from there. The Oswalt thing like I said was just something I overheard at work and vivaultra explained in detail what was actually placed in the article from the Houston Chronicle.

There's no way he will be playing for Boston. This was discussed earlier in the year on a NESN pregame show where ownership has asked certain guys if they would be comfortable having A-Rod in the clubhouse if that ever came to fruition. Evidently he wouldn't be welcomed with two of the major names against it being Ortiz and Tek. If your team Captain and your big basher/clubhouse guy don't want him then it aint happening. I guess a couple others didn't like the idea either but those were the only two names mentioned.
