I can't find confirmation for this but some caller on EEI just said that a Newsday Reporter is saying the Mets are going to swing Delgado and Lastings Milledge to the Red Sox for Manny. I doubt its true because... A.) Mets need a first baseman B.) Newsday reported it. They get nothing right.

I would think Philli is paying most of the contract and Thome will be DHing. Konerko could still come back. I don't understand this trade for Chicago. Getting rid of a GG caliber OF that can hit you around 20 homers a year for a guy that could be done.

I don't think there are many people that could improve on the 2004 numbers Ichiro put up. Maybe one or two of them but not all, so of course its going to look as though he's in decline. He wasn't happy in Seattle last season either from the sounds of things, and speaking from personal experience you just aren't going to be at your best if you're unhappy. Besides saving $35mill overall the Red Sox would also gain extra revenue from Japan via all the Ichiro Red Sox merchandise. If Ichiro is willing to play CF then it would be a deal I would have no problem with Boston making.

Manny's not even going to show up to Spring Training though supposedly. Red Sox save a ton of cash in the deal, get a lead-off hitter that can get on base and get himself into scoring position on walks and singles via a stolen base. He's also still very good defensively. Ichiro's contract only runs through the 07 season too so no biggie.

Being latino isn't enough to make the Mets. You have to be Dominican. Petit would have been a huge part of any Manny deal. I don't see the Mets getting him now. Al, they're gonna put Cabrera at 3rd base. They've said as much.

If Baltimore can't get Leinart then they'll cave in to San Diego's demands. They can't do another season with Kyle Boller as they're defense isn't going to have Ray Lewis, Chris McAllister, Peter Boulware, etc able to keep up the pace forever. Not to meniton Ogden and Jamal Lewis aren't going to be around for too many more years.

Mets get Manny Ramirez Marlins get Lastings Milledge, Yuisermo Petit, and Aaron Heilman Red Sox get Juan Pierre and Carlos Delgado makes sense for all teams involved and Minaya doesn't mind throwing prospects around as if they were nothing.
