  1. I don't think the Yankees really added too-too much if you look at what they lost

Mussina had a great season so adding Sabathia negates the loss of Mussina to retirement

Burnett will probably give them along the lines of what they got out of Pettite

Texiera and Swisher together are probably going to equal what they got out of Giambi and Abreu offensively

The outfield defense is still going to be very suspect and as long as they have pipe dreams of keeping Joba in the rotation that bridge to Mo is still weak...and although I will admit he may be the greatest closer ever even Mo is gonna hit the wall sooner rather than later given his age.

  2. I'm trying to figure out why the Red Sox are/were determined to sign Teixeira in the first place.

    A. They won 95 games last year.

    B. They have both a good 1B and DH in place.

    C. Their #1 prospect is a 1B with a .400+ career minor league OBP.

Now I can understand making an incremental improvement if you have the opportunity and can get a good player at a good price. But for $180 million?!

They have had a plan in place for over two years now supposedly where they were to sign Tex and nobody knows if either Lowell or Ortiz will be the players they once were again after their injuries. The hip thing Lowell suffered will supposedly linger through-out the rest of his career and who knows about Ortiz's wrist.

And I thought Bowden was their number one prospect now

  3. I guess I just don't find this incarnation of the Red Sox to be an interesting team. If this were 2003 or even 2006, maybe that wouldn't matter to me. But after seeing Boston win two titles in four seasons, I'm in no hurry to see them notch a third championship. Boston fans (not you guys) already have this sense of entitlement since winning in 2004. Another one is going to make them damn near unbearable.

It makes up for the stretch of years between 1987-1999 where the city didn't win shit; the Pats with the exception of one season were pretty much irrelevant and almost moved to Conn, The Celtics began their Len Bias curse, The Bruins lost constantly to either the Penguins or The Canadians, and the Red Sox were Owned on a constant basis by Oakland, then Toronto, then New York. I'm just happy they're all constantly in contention again after that period to start my sports fan life.

  4. Oh man, remember when the A's were a sort-of powerhouse...?

I remember when the Red Sox were to the A's what the Angels are to the Red Sox now...and that's a speed bump along the playoff road. I loved watching Chris Sabo and the Reds beat up on the A's in the World Series after the A's just pummeled the Sox in the ALCS.

  5. I recently went to a wedding reception having to do with my girlfriend's mother's side of the family. One of my girlfriend's cousins (tanned, absolutely perfect d-cups, nice ass, gorgeous face and pouty lips) was checking me out all night and giving me looks where I knew I could have done something with her. My girlfriend noticed and said to me "If she doesn't stop it I'm going to go across the table and smack the bitch up". I only wish the family wasn't cheap because had they gone with an open bar I could have had one hell of a threesome that night seeing as how my girl is a very horney kind of drunk.

Later on in the evening I proceeded to break one of the toilets in the hotel where the reception took place because the fish they served made me sick. I tried flushing and it struggled for all of 5 seconds before completely dying.

  6. unfortunately my boss is an asshole and for whatever reasons crushes out most anything before 1985 when it comes in. For the most part if you have a car between the years of 85-99 (although some models we have all the way up to 2003; like Cavaliers) then I can get ya shit.

For those asking why nothing new well that shit goes across the street to the expensive section. I work in the poor man's part.

  7. The larger market teams that are willing to spend alot of money will always be in every discussion as far as superstar players go. Red Sox, Dodgers, Mets, Angels, Yankees, Cubs, Tigers, and the White Sox are all gonna be the first teams brought up when it comes to expensive superstar caliber players because they're willing to dish out the cash. Its just the nature of the beast.
