Next weekend. That'll probably be #1 with $25-28 million. He's coming off momentum from Departed, he's always a good action movie guy and these kind of movies play well. Turtles and Reign Over Me also open. Sandler in a drama doesn't sell and I don't see alot of buzz for the Turtles.

If we're going to throw out crazy ideal fantasy booking, here's one pertaining to the MitB. The focus has been placed upon RRKO right and quite rightly so given their status as top heel players. I'd spend the next two weeks putting over the Hardyz skills at the game, Finlay's love to fight and Booker's sneakiness but put over that Punk is a rookie who never been in a ladder match (in WWE-Land that is) and doesn't belong there. Put over Punk having doubts about his place in the match and his ability to win it. Show complete shaky nerves, replaying about his childhood with his family (as he touched on in his early debut promos). The Smackdown before WM has a eight man tag match (Edge/Orton/Jeff Hardy/Booker Vs Punk/Finlay/Matt/Kennedy) and in there we see Punk's team0-mates refuse to tag him in. Punk's frustrations causes a lapse in communication and he eats a RKO for a lost. Punk tries to apologize but they all brush him off. Prior to the match, CM Punk gives a quick promo to display a confused man without much to say. The match comes and it's the usual match. Punk will probably be over to start but not quite up to the levels of the other two faces. Punk builds throughout the match taking big bumps and even does a fine cut job. Gushing blood but still fighting. He even gets a nod of approval from Finlay while exchanging punches. The story is still about RRKO. It comes to the end. Bodies everywhere on the floor. Orton and Edge are the only ones standing and they finally erupt with punches. The ladder stands in the middle of it. Orton hits a snap RKO but appears to injure himself in the process and has problems climbing and isn't able to take advantage. Edge awakes and quickly marches up the ladder to meet Orton. Booker and Finlay try to knock them off but Matt and Jeff shove them out of the ring. RRKO and The Hardys are on top of the ladders but Kennedy climbs up and super-plexes the brothers right over the ropes crashing through the tables. That leaves RRKO alone. They each reach for the briefcase and get a equal share of it and they push and shove. Punk finally arrives. Slowly climbs halfway up the other ladder. Kicks the ladder trying to knock them off balance and finally does so but in the process each men drop the briefcase right into the waiting hands of Punk. Punk scores the stunning upset and the crowd pops huge. Punk chants ring out. Punk has a tear slipping through the blood soaked face as he hugs the briefcase tightly. Punk passes Finlay, Booker, Kennedy and Hardyz on the way out and they all nod their heads in approval. Matt and Jeff exchange a hug. Punk poses on the ramp and slips out. Camera follows him through the backstage to be greeted by other members of the ECW locker room. Elijah continues to push for him to join the NB. RVD and the Originals give him a big ovation. This segues into the next segment of the PPV. Later that night, it's the Lashley/Umaga match. Of course this match is overbooked to the max. Big WWE brawl here. Lashley is nearly dead but finally pulls the victory off. McMahon is dragged to the barber shop set and the faces proceed to shave him bald. McMahon runs off screaming. Lashley, Trump and Austin celebrate some more in the ring. Trump walks out. Austin motions for beerfest to begin but before he can open the first beer. Punk's theme blares out. Big pop for that. He walks down with a confidence. He chucks the briefcase at Austin and screams "Ring the bell!". Lashley tells him the same. A quick five minute match occurs and Lashley, exhausted from the previous war (in the match, Umaga made a point to take out the neck). Punk noticed that. Punk takes a quick beating but he makes sure to attack the neck often. Lashley tries to set up for the dominator but Punk gets a precise timed knee to the back of Lashley's neck. Lashley's in pain. Punk quickly locks the Vice on. Lashley screams in agony. Punk pulls tighter. Lashley passes out. Austin declares the match to be over. Crowd loves it. Punk chants echo the stadium. Punk slips the title belt on his waist. Austin calls for a beer shower and extends a can towards Punk. Punk looks at Austin dead in the eye and doesn't take the can. Austin is shocked. He offfers another and Punk repeats the action. Austin is now pissed. Austin decides to address this with a quick promo to point out his unhappiness about Punk's deicsion. He puts him over for a hellacious beating in the ladder match and for the balls to challenge the champion on the spot. Punk takes the mic away and finally rips into Austin with a classic sXe heel promo. Shredding Austin. Austin and Punk slam heads. Austin throws the first punch but misses. Punk throws one and connects. Austin stumbles back off the ropes and kicks him in the gut. Hits the Stunner. Punk rolls right back up and slaps Austin right in the face. The referees and officials storm the ring to seperate the two. Crowd is going bananas right now. Austin marches out with a pissed off rant. Punk smirks on the turnbuckle with his new title draped over his shoulder. In the process makes Punk the biggest story of the night not just for winning the MitB or even cashing it in for the ECW title but for standing up to Steve Austin. That'd be nice to see but like Orton turning and taking the title off a fully heel turned Batista to close the show, Punk's not gonna win the MitB, the ECW title and stand up against Austin. The closest thing is Edge winning the MitB and cashing it in against a newly crowned WWE champion, Shawn Michaels.

She sure looks good for 97 years old! At least she isn't blonde. Being blond would actually help her to stand out. There's only six blondes on the regular diva rotation (Kelly, Ashley, Jillian, Cherry, Torrie and Maryse. Although Michelle McCool and Beth are blondes, they haven't been on screen in while). Christine looks similar to Brooke.

What a day. It's almost impossible for tomorrow's game to match the awesomeness.
-
Watching these games makes me support that Bill Simmons idea of making Gus Johnson 'The Closer".

3 OT games in one afternoon? Crazy. Vandy/WSU isn't over yet. We might get 30T. Nope. WSU fell apart at the end. Man, those experts sure are smart. X was hack job and Vandy was overseeded to hell.

Why would they announce JBL if they had no intention of him actually wrestling. Unless this was done with out JBL's okay as a way to entice him back into the ring. JBL is teflon and can do whatever the hell he pleases, because at the end of the day he's rich with or without the wwe. I wonder who will wrestle HBK in JBL's place. Who else has Cena fought at Wrestlemania's? HHH, Big Show and JBL are his three opponents by my figuring. So there's nobody else - Will HBK be behind this idea, having Cena fight Benoit knowing full well that there is nobody from Cena's WM past for him to fight? I don't they'll change the plans at all. I always thought we'd just get a confrontation spot leading to something else between Cena/Michaels. Possibly JBL will just eat a FU for good measure. Don't forget Jay Z, though. Stephanie is ridiculous if she wants to de-mask Mistico. If wwe ever does launch their Latino brand, keep her the hell away from it. Didn't she want to de-mask Ultimo as well? Instead, they just buried him on Velocity. So the plan is for the New Breed to go over the Originals? And then to release Sandman and Sabu, with RVD already having a foot out the door? Sandman does have some sort of heat on him as he, along with over ECW wrestlers, change with the enhancement talent. I've always liked Sandman, but he's very limited in the ring and on the mic and without Enter Sandman - what's left? I'm glad he at least got one full year of wwe salary, and the exposure should increase his indie contracts for a little while. With ECW supposedly set to get tag titles, why not stick him in a tag team with Dreamer? Sandman gets over too easily without much effort. Granted, he is a limited worker but so is a great deal of the talent working in WWE. Dreamer is the one who doesn't have much to offer. Sandman is in great shape and probably better then he ever was. Sabu should be saved as a special attraction/JTTS figure but he pissed off Vince.
-
Sabu's stock sure crashed. When he came in, Vince was crazy about him and pushed him hard. Then the dumbass got arrested and grew lazy and stopped caring. Typical Sabu. You don't come in with wrestling ability. If she has the drive that Candice had, then it's great. If not, that's fine. I'm just glad they have made an effort of making most of these girls different and have their own special place. Two years ago, these models were just randomly appearing for no reason. Now all of them have a reason and for the most part, are capable of it.

2OT? I'm there and somehow, VCU came back along the way. This is an incredible day. Do people still want 13 and 14 seeds playing this round?

He's too exciting and likes mid-majors. Fuck him. Shocked ESPN hasn't tried to steal him. He and Vitale would be something else.

I got two brackets that matter. One at work and another at my old job. The rest were small office pools that I entered because I was asked too. The ones that matter? I picked OSU because I thought OSU would actually play harder. The two important ones are identical aside from final scores. The rest were for shits and giggles. If OSU loses? I'm happy. I had them out ahead of most people and X is a local school. Oh, man. X is done now. OSU has way to much momentum now. What a game.
-
Never ever underestimate a team that hates the other coach with a passion.
-
ESPN would just claim that XU had the unfair advantage of being close to home. Ignoring that Columbus isn't a far drive to Lexington either.
-
UTSU should realize that Xavier isn't exactly some bottom feeder team. Stuck in a shitty conference doesn't make them a shitty team. It's the same as Memphis. I had X in a couple brackets and I never put OSU deep in the others, so I'm quite enjoying this game. Matta recruited and coached these kids. He should know them inside and out but he doesn't.
-
I can't take Oregon seriously anymore. If they are so damn athletic and awesome from long range, then how the fuck did MIAMI BALL dominate that game? Oregon was 1 1/2 inches from going home and shattered everyone's bracket. I like Winthrop, even if it kills my bracket for good.
-
X/Ohio should be nuts with the hatred between them, Miller/Matta and the crowd being split in half.
-
29-3. I already lost Duke and LBST and we went to bed last night before the final session and I woke up to find out that my upset pick in Holy didn't take. Glad to see the lack of "upsets" (9 over 8 doesn't count) as that leads to some great match ups. Wisconsin going out in the second round would give me a huge push for my big money pool. I'm not sure how i'm doing in my small cash pools and the on line pools but I'm sure since i didn't pay attention to what I did there.
-
Still doing pretty damn well aside from that 909 ruined LBST debacle. LB and Duke are my only losses. Even though I had Wisconsin going to the next round, them losing would have probably put me in the money already. UNLV needs to break them. Looks like we'll have a strong finishing session for the first round but right now, what would you say ranks as the top five opening round matches? I got Duke/VCU, Nevada/Creighton, X/BYU, Miami/Oregon and either Illinois/VY or ND/Winthrop. Not the strongest first round but the match ups poses in the second round should make for some crazy games.
-
No question. They really had no right to be here. I was actually expecting that blowout type but I was just saying I'm quite happy to see them perform so well after being slighted by the entire media or just ignored outright. Akron had the type of team that could have been a legit threat to upset although the Lebron James stories would get tiresome. Just keeping Oregon under 60 was a victory much less coming down to the final seconds.

While Miami probably won't have another bank miracle in the works, the fact they have kept this supposedly high powered offense down and off their game along with still being alive coming down the stretch makes me quite proud. I take that back. Miami might take this fucker afterall and that makes me very estatic and angry at the same time. Ok. That was probably for the best. I keep my big money pool alive and well and my school does a great job and kept that supposed incredible offense on their Miami Ball tempo and went to the wire and even hit a fucking half court buzzer but it was still short. For all those "likely upsets"-Long Beach, Albany, Oral, Davidson, and Wright, Miami actually came closer despite everyone brushing them off as if it were to be a 98-54 game. Of course, only 5268 people in America saw the game.

TNA stupidity so great it warrants its own thread

I was taking it as Cornette was bitching about the reports themselves as in the people who read them. I guess it appears Cornette was just pointing out the absurdity of purposefully bringing a even more negative vibe into the room. Which doesn't really work because he knows the locker room is reading it anyways. Cornette taking over the head spot wouldn't help matters all that much. The issue is the direction and control throughout the promotion. West is always a moron, so I didn't take much out of that blurb. -

Cornette bitches about people reading reports and panders to that same community on a constant basis. I guess he can't accept that he's become a part of the idoicy that he preached against.
