I'm a white guy who got into Marley around the same time I started smoking pot. Does this mean I should be in college, or does it mean I'm supposed to play the guitar? Someone tell me what stereotype I'm supposed to be here!

Tim White spoiler - I know you can't wait to know.

They're not making light of suicide guys. They're making light of attempted-suicide. Attempted-suicide has always been funny. -
What's entertaining is a matter of opinion. If it entertains more people than anything on the planet, than guess what, it is the most entertaining thing on the planet, regardless of whether you agree or not. How hard is this to understand really? 5 is a bigger number than 4. That's a fact. Friends isn't funny. That's an opinion. Can everyone see how clear it is?
-
Yeah who the hell says a steak prepared by a top chef tastes any better than a burger from McD's, other than the person eating it? It's all preference, there is no "clearly subpar" food, just like there is no "clearly subpar" comedy. If it tastes good you eat it, if it's funny it makes you laugh. There's no table of measurement beyond that.

The OaO Arrested Development Season 3 thread
Cowboy Battlenuts replied to Gary Floyd's topic in Television & Film
That was just fucking awesome. I needed commercial breaks to stop laughing. -
Taste and humor are based on individual preference, so if there is to be any true measure of universal quality it could only be based on who's got bigger numbers. In summary, just because it's not funny to you doesn't mean it's not funny.

I have a feeling we're in bad standing with a lot of nations because of our "kick ass" attitude when it comes to dealing with mass amounts of human life.

I've been catching up, got done with the pilot and just finished Tabula Rasa or whatever it is. The monster/security system really should be the focus for the remainder of the second season. It's the biggest mystery on the island if you ask me, and I REALLY want to know what has the ability to suck tree's into the ground and get high enough to suck the pilot from the cockpit and deposit him on a tree top. The thing is all over the place and with the noises it makes you have to wonder just what the fuck this thing is. And this may be looking into things too deep, but on the cover art for the season one DVD, Walt and Locke are on opposite sides, at each far end. The "one light, one dark" works for the simple fact that one's black and one's white, but one seems to be the youngest of the survivors, and one seems to be the oldest. Maybe Eko isn't the yin to Locke's yang like everyone thought? Just throwin' it out there.

I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to Coupon the Movie.

A responsibility as a professional athlete!?!?! He's a fucking pro wrestler, a bad guy, the more fans and people he badmouths outside of events the better. I can't understand these overreactions to fan/wrestler interaction that simply uphold characters and a sense of kayfabe. Who cares who provoked who and what was said, if it made one more person dislike Orton and want to see him get his ass kicked, good for him.
-
Might be an inside joke of some sort, but why in the world would people go to another board to complain about a mod at this forum? I think a mod has the responsibility to be an ideal poster of sorts. He has to be the example. Is the goal here really to have a forum full of HTQ's? I hope not.
-
He seems like quite the douche. How does someone like that even end up a mod in the first place?
-
Guys I hate to break it to you, but the whole straight edge thing just MIGHT be a character....
-
He's already a success in the WWE. Who needs TV time and character developement when you get to bang maria. You know if Shelton was so lucky we sure as hell wouldn't be calling him poor....

SNL "Lazy Sunday" Link from Last Night...
Cowboy Battlenuts replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in Television & Film
I can't imagine what word-atrocity you edited that down from... I forgot the e in categorized, an atrocity on the level of the holocaust no doubt. -
I guess I'm the only one who doesn't want Damon in pinstripes simply because he was on the '04 Sox. I think we're gonna go 90 years without a title for signing anyone from that team....

SNL "Lazy Sunday" Link from Last Night...
Cowboy Battlenuts replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in Television & Film
Jesus, all this talk about what kind of comedy it is as if comedy should be categorized beyond funny and unfunny. I thought it was funny, I don't plan to watch it 6 more times to reaffirm it's funniness or discover it never really was funny. -
ANY thread can create a discussion, all it takes is someone to throw out a topic in anyway and people discussing that topic. Intentions or purpose shouldn't get in the way of good discussion. To be honest, when I see Battlenuts and his twenty-three posts defending TFP, I thought something was up since they were both new. Then I see they both registered on the same day and I instantly become more suspect. Don't you feel kind of dumb having that paranoia? We're both new posters speaking in the same thread so automatically we're in cahoots? Kind of over-dramatic don't you think? Forget trolls and instigators, if good points are made in a thread, discuss the good points, focus on the discussion that might spring up rather than the small immature shit that would bring it down.
-
He raised discussable points, who cares what extreme he took it to. Why can't there just be a discussion on that rather than how he conducted himself or what we assume his intentions were? What does "shitting" on him accomplish?
-
Yeah no reason to try and build an actual debate.... I would like to drop that message on this forum as it supposed to be the "smart marks" forum. Seems more like a minor attempt at being clever than an insult, and I don't see how responding with an insult would be any better. Is it possible this guy just felt like discussing TNA and did so? Why does he have to be labeled a "troll"? This forum is for TNA discussion not a haven for fanboys that anyone with a differing opinion should run from. I understand someone just coming in and saying 'tna sux eat dick' but the guy brought up a common problem with the wrestling, how poorly he did it shouldn't matter for anyone looking for discussion and not some pissing contest. Some people think it comes off as overly choreographed, is that gonna hurt the product? Does it deviate from the basic concept of pro wrestling in some ways? Why do threads have to turn into group shit fests rather than actual discussions? Are there not enough good posters? I don't think so.
-
as he kept referring to us as "smart marks" therefore taking himself out of that particular group Dude, the forum is called thesmartmarks. That shouldn't be too hard to figure out. He even complimented certain favorites of this folder. It just seems like anyone who wants to come in here to share a negative opinion about the fed get's automatically called a troll before people even hear him out.
-
Because like some trolls, he came off sounding like he was saying it to get a rise out of TNA fans and etc, rather than because he believed in it. But why would it sound like that unless your expecting it? It was just a guy giving his opinion, it shouldn't be taken as anything more or less. When you act as if you think he's attacking you, you look like your just waiting to be attacked.
-
How come this guy got called a troll and idiot right off the bat when he didn't insult anyone? He may of said some dumb things but screaming troll right away is complete fanboyism at it's worst. He has a point, but not to the extreme he takes it. A major problem with the X Division is how choreographed it looks, I've never seen a completely fluid match in TNA, there's always one "waiting" spot where some kind of logic has to fly out the window for them to get it right. But saying "no psychology at all" isn't right in the least, you put two guys in a ring and face them at eachother, psychology is already involved.

Has anyone here even considered for a second the possibility that they outgrew a simplistic form of storytelling? I can still enjoy it now and then, but I'm far from a diehard and some stuff that would have me cracking up 5-6 years ago falls flat now. I just grew up, and the more I learned the less there was to learn and the more disinterested I became. I think this happens to everyone in some way. I mean, is it any worse than it was when it was popular? Yeah, the ratings were higher, but aside from a few people there was no super six, there was no benoit or guerrero, there was no Angle, there was sexual chocolate fathering hands and DX making people flash. And think back to before that, I thought Yokozuna was the baddest mofo on the planet back then, now if he were still around I'd probably look at him and think "I could take this douche". It's just a different mindframe. I really think we're just coming from a different perspective then we used to. I'm sure a 7 year old will still see Taker doing his thing and be astonished, I'm sure a 9 year old would put 5 dollars on Big Show being able to eat a car. Certain things are just easier to believe, and in turn enjoy, at that age.
