Slammiversary has always been their biggest and best "build up" show. If you compare 2005 Slammiversary to 2005 BFG, Slammiversary had a bigger aura and they were not even on tv. This year BFG however looks like it going to be a major show and a show that will change TNA forever.

Not if Spike offer him a fat contract and he only have to work 3 times a month(really about 1 time per month). A good deal is a good deal. Jericho said he will come if he got Sting money.

Joe will never have a title reign that long, he will eventually run out of opponents like his X title reigns. I give him 5 months if he wins the belt which is reasonable. You mightest well give up on the "different" agenda, it's not going to happen. TNA left that boat when Spike TV offer to pay for Sting and gave them a Thursday night slot. I think Spike paying for contracts have it's negatives(like power control) but it also have it's positives. If TNA signs Goldberg, Spike will be more comfortable with giving TNA more TV time. If guys like Jericho and Benoit see Goldberg is getting all this money than there will be more "jumps". If the Carters back out for some reason, Spike/Viacom might offer to buy TNA because it will be worth something to them.

This guy is so over and such a draw I never understood the Punk hype but too me he seems like another wrestler. What is his appeal? What separates him from the others? Great mic skills,why are his mic skills so great? He is the next Chris Candido(RIP) minus the drug problems,underground king to another bland mid carder. TNA Wrestling, Spike TV, and Bill Goldberg have been discussing a working agreement between the three for around two months now. TNA Wrestling does not want to pay Bill Goldberg the money he was asking for, however Spike TV said they would be willing to pay his contract if it meant he would become a fulltime part of TNA Wrestling. TNA Wrestling and Spike TV have been meeting the last several months regarding contracts with wrestlers, that would be under Spike TV. This was done in the early days of World Championship Wrestling, when many of the wrestlers were signed to Ted Turner, and not the promotion itself. Bill Goldberg was sign to AOL not WCW.

Or they could put on a PPV and make money from it instead. You mean 40,000 buys will be HUGE? No match in TNA can draw over 50,000, maybe 40 but not 50. TNA is in a unique position where putting their big matches on free tv(with good build up,not like Steiner vs. Christian that only had a one week notice) will help them build up their young stars better. I predict that in two months, BFG will do around 45,000 buys. Really, Samoa Joe beating JJ in a clean,hard fought match in front of millions viewers LIVE on tv would have a bigger impact than putting it on ppv for cheap change. If the rumors is true about TNA getting a live two hour special on Monday in September when WWE Raw is on delay,WHY NOT? They can do the rematch at BFG and get the same amount buys.

Goldberg should put over Brown,Joe and Rhino? He would just be another guy if that happens. I think TNA can book Goldberg strong without having any contact with Joe or Brown.

The number of buys would have been at least 600,000. Even at $30 a pop, and I think it was nearer to $35, that's still $18m in PPV revenue, of which WCW would have received around $5-6m at least. Assuming 40,000 at the Georgia Dome, with an average ticket price of $40, that's $1.6m at the gate. Add in an average of $30 per head in merchandise, that's another $1.2m. Combine that all and you're looking at around $8m. Regarding HH'98, the feed went out before the main event of Goldberg vs. DDP for the World Title. They aired the match in full the following night on Nitro PPV's was already booked for the whole year by that point and the Georgia Dome was NOT one of the locations. If Sting vs. Hogan only drew 600,000, I doubt Goldberg/Hogan on ppv would do that much better since Sting/Hogan had one of the best build up and anticipation in wrestling history. I personally thought it was perfect timing. Goldberg in front of his hometown of 40,000 people and millions of people watching him on tv beating Hulk Hogan for the World title clean with one of the best atmospheres I ever seen in wrestling. Goldberg is still making money off that one match which shows you how big of an impact it was putting it on Nitro. I think the Goldberg/Hogan match was watch by 7 or 8 million people? I kinda think that if TNA gets a LIVE two hour special, they should put Samoa Joe title win on the special instead of ppv because I think it will have a bigger "Impact" in the long run. I'm a bit surprise WCW did not do another Goldberg/Hogan match.

Every TNA Spike TV conference has bash WWE and ECW in some form. I just choose to ignore it because it's pointless. At least Rhino,have an actual beef and dislike for WWE/ECW as oppose to someone like AJ Styles who will do it just to impress TNA.

I use to be a diehard FOX fan but the network went downhill for me about 2 years ago when everything kept getting repetitive. Seriously, the network is nothing but one debate after another. Even the morning show has a Ann Coulter wannabe. I think Anderson Cooper is the best news guy PERIOD. Nobody does his job better than him. Keith Olberman show is stupid but funny, I like this guy. I use to like Bill Oreilly when he introduce new and exciting stories but now his show is nothing but the same thing he been talking about for the last two years "NEW YORK TIMES have a story out I hate..." "Liberals is the most evil people in the world..." Then he have Ann Coulter come on and let her get away with everything.

I thought some tna dvds have clipped matches? Its hard to buy TNA dvds because I can watch all the matches on youtube(which TNA supports)

I thought WCW had it from 96-99. Even though WWE was winning those last two years, on paper WCW still had a better overall roster, they just had bad storylines. 1999 WWE roster was fairly weak in hindsight and 97.

That match WAS entertaining as all hell, so Flair does deserve credit there. Has nothing to do with a Meltz bias. The Douglas promo DID come off low-rent and borderline pathetic considering there is ZERO interest in Flair/Douglas anymore. I think you and meltzer took the Douglas comment too far. It was a very small remark/cheapshot.

This is not the first time AM beat Impact in the ratings. This is like the 5th time actually. They also tied with TNA a couple of times. I think WWE have a built in audience they been building for over 50 years to TNA's 4. Plus, AM is actually a good show. It's Raw without the crap.

He's kinda right? Where was Monty Brown(in a middle of a big push),Killings,Senshi(X champion) and Abyss this week? TNA is saving them for next week which means LAX,Naturals,etc. will probably be off tv.

Joe is the man and should win at BFG just like when AUstin was the man and need to win at WM 14.

I thought TNA had a golden angle between Joe and CHristian if they kept Christian undefeated and the champ. Imagine that, both guys never loss in TNA go one on one against each other for the World title. It's too late now but it would of been great. Sting never loss in TNA but it's not the same because we all know Sting is doing the "legend" gimmick and they barely lose matches. P.S. I'm looking for a mask vs.title match down the line between Joe and AByss.

At the end of the day, people remember the best matches quality and atmosphere. Joe vs. JJ is a lot helluva better than Joe vs. Sting. It's sad to say but Sting don't bring a reaction like Jarrett. Imagine the crowd reactions and energy when Joe pin JJ and compare it to if he pin Sting. People emotionally hate JJ, we don't have many heels today that people really hate. Plus, the match quality is something to look at. Jarrett can still be great if he try and Joe will bring the best out of him, Sting is limited. Joe vs. Jarrett is like the ultimate indy dream match, when TNA and ROH fans hated each other in 2004 all I heard was Joe vs. Jarrett.

It's been building since January. They can devote some time to the pairings that are just starting, like Styles and Daniels vs LAX or Rhino, Joe and Monty, because, in theory, the fans already wanna see Sting kick Jarrett's ass. But does it make sense to slow down the build up right before a title match and their big one on one match?They could of did it 3 months ago when nothing was on the line. This should be the time to push it strong to get people excited. I don't even want to see the two on tv but at least give me a reason why I should buy this match(am going to buy the ppv anyway but still). First show looks good Second show looks terrible

THis year ppvs have been pretty average compare to last year's when they were giving us at least 4 great matches per show. Victory Road did not have a great match at all. None of the ppvs this year had MOTYC which is NOT like TNA. TNA only care about the major ppvs this year which is a BAD idea. Like the other poster said, they don't have the luxury of a WWE to pull that off. Sure the ratings is up but according to Meltzer the ppv buyrates is down except for the major ppvs(Lockdown and FR which both feature the return of Sting).

We have two more ppvs before BFG but since we all know those ppvs is consider throwaways we mightest well skip them. This is not a dream card just a prediction. Joe vs.JJ seems to be the number 1 plan. I think the match should have a clean pinfall without interference or weapons. Sting vs.Christian seems to be in the plans Monty Brown vs.Rhino vs.Abyss vs.Killings vs. Steiner in a monsters ball match, I know for sure TNA will do this match. AMW vs. James Gang with AMW finally breaking up AJ/Daniels vs. Naturals for the tag titles seems highly possible Nash vs. Sabin part II seems highly possible Senshi defending his title in a Gauntlet against Williams,Dutt,Homicide,Kazarian,Bentley,Lynn,Runt,Lethal,Devine,Shelley, with a Jeff Hardy return. Probably will happen Young vs. Roode with D'Amore Just a prediction card As long as Joe wins the title in the best way possible than nothing else really matters.

I'm still deciding if I should order the ppv or not. Nobody mention Kidman, who's been working a lot of shows in Florida and loves to visit TNA. I heard Tenay was very high on Kevin Steen. I'm going to take two guesses and say Puma and Delirious,who is both rumor to be already sign with TNA. Austin Starr is in Japan right now. Kazarian is a good guess but I doubt TNA would bring him for this match when they want to team him with Bentley. I would LOVE for Shocker to come back or some other real luchadores. The X division needs more luchadores, give me the real or fake La Parka it don't matter to me.

Total agreement, one of the reasons why I can handle Impact sometimes when it's crappy is because of the 1 hour format. When I watch Impact I don't get the sense that I have to put up with crap just to get the good parts. THe bad parts only last 1 to 2 minutes. PWINSIDER however did not mention weekly two hours. I heard they mention a bi monthly or every quarter live two hour show and the chance of a weekly LIVE show. Nothing about making Impact 2 hours every week.

I always thought the first Hogan/Flair match felt like a regular ppv main event instead of one of the biggest matches of all time. Goldberg vs. Hogan part 2 should of happen
