Fuck, I couldn't agree with you more. I can't believe how many people hear me hype up ROH, then they grab a DVD or tune in on The Fight Network, see a Ring Crew Express vs Jobbers match and say "wtf is so good about this?" One of these days I'm gonna take the time to rip maybe a half dozen ROH matches and put them up on PWT as "The Best Matches to Introduce Someone to ROH With." Joebashi should be one of them, but I still need to decide on the other 5...

Hmm... But isn't it fair to say that Hogan/Andre was the same "2 of the most powerful wrestlers in the world collide?" Actually, I can answer that. A lot of Hogan/Andre was dominated by Andre, whereas Joebashi was more back and forth. I rescind, sir.

Have to go with Uncensored 95 as well. Seeing Dustin Rhodes sell a haybail like it was made of steel is something I never want to go through again.

k, I'm kinda late here, and I skimmed through some of the thread... I will freely admit I haven't seen a lot of the Japanese matches listed, but I agree with most of the American matches. Bret/Austin Submission Match still remains my all time favourite match ever. I have to agree with MisawaGQ on this. In terms of scope, in terms of scale, in terms of hype, Hogan/Andre was the Frazier/Ali of the WWF for the longest time. That does not make it a good match. Yes, the selling was done well, yes Andre and Hogan working the crowd was perfect, but the match was sloppy as a whole. Is it an IMPORTANT match? Without a doubt. But not good. Now to play devil's advocate on this idea... what about Joe/Kobashi? It has the same sort of flavour, in that it was mostly a stiff spot-fest, not much in the way of psychology, very much a hard no-selling "fighting spirit" style match... and yet the atmosphere was unbelievable, the crowd was insane, and every move looked BRUTAL.... Does it suck or rule at the same level Hogan/Andre does?

Moments... * *The Empire Strikes Back when Vader reveals he's Luke's father. *The entire chase scene in Bullit. *The opening scene of Dirty Harry, with the 5 bullets or 6 speech. Timeless classic. *The final scene of Unforgiven in the bar when Clint's character finally turns back to what he truly is. Quite possibly one of the greatest movies ever made, IMO. *Final scene of Saving Private Ryan. Incredibly emotional. *Storming of Normandy Beach in Saving Private Ryan. Horrific, intense, and exciting. Seeing it in theatres was indescribable. *The final scene of Star Trek VI: TUC, as Kirk gives the "Second star to the right, and straight on till morning" line, and his final Captain's Log, and the Enterprise sails off towards the sun as the credits roll, with each cast member doing a signature. For a longtime fan of TOS, it was the perfect send-off and a real sense of closure. Made me cry the first time I saw it (age uuuuh.... 13 I guess?) *The final shootout scene in Scarface. Over-the-top movie making at its best. *The scene in Platoon where Charlie Sheen has to watch the other two soldiers beat the guy to death and shoot his grandma. Very harsh stuff, very hard to watch, but very truthful of the Vietnam war. *Spock's death in Star Trek II: TWoK, and Kirk's eulogy at his funeral. Incredibly emotional. *The complete chase scene in the ORIGINAL (ie. not the shitty Nicholas Cage vehicle) Gone in 60 Seconds. *The fight scene during the opera in The Fifth Element, very fast-paced and very creative. *Tuco's dash through the grave yard in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, set to Ennio Morricone's "The Ecstasy of Gold"... easily the greatest mixture of music and imagery in the history of film. I may also be partial to this because I'm a huge Metallica fan, and they use The Ecstasy of Gold to open all of their live performances *Lobby shoot-out in The Matrix. Speaking of melding of music and imagery... maybe a close second to TGTBTU

Couldn't agree more. Going to my first ROH event was a life-changing experience. Before I was only bored with WWE and reasonably excited about ROH. Now WWE can kiss my ass.

I have minor diagnosed OCD as well, but not for cleanliness, more for tidiness. Straightening a picture frame, etc... If I leave a room and turn off the light, but the lightswitch doesn't physically go down all the way, I have to come back and push it all the way down. I'm insane. But I can still piss in a public washroom.

lol, I have tigeraid because in 1992 when I started on the Internet, I was huge into fighting games. It's stuck. I see no reason to change a recognized user name. My point was that 2D games were always "it" for me. I'd play the shit out of them, then play them some more. And with the arcade scene, there were always fresh challenges. It was a combination of the arcade dying and Capcom not making good fighting games anymore. And they really, really don't, was my point.

Definitely have to agree on Final Fantasy as well. FF VI and FF VII are masterpieces in many ways, but foremost the ability to put music EMOTIONALLY into a game. Sephiroth's music is ominous, Aeris' music is sad and suits her well... just fantastic. And Final Fantasy III, for being simple MIDI-style music files, was just awesome. I still get goosebumps whenever I hear Cyan's or Shadow's music. The Guilty Gear series is another one that stands out for me, being a metal fan. Awesome speed/thrash metal. I have every GG album. Gotta give honourable mention to Sonic CD for the Sega CD as well.

Man, you're the absolute opposite of me. I got burnt out on fighting games a few years ago... the competition in the small town I lived in shrivelled up and died thanks to the PS2 coming out. Soon after the only arcade in town closed. Then I moved here to London, and despite having a rather large arcade, I haven't been yet. Why? I've always been a 2D fan. I wrote a few dozen FAQs for Gamefaqs for several years, for just about every major fighting game, and I wrote for fighters.net and versuscity.net (now defunct.) Tekken had its moments, VF was okay for me, but I never got into Soul Blade or DOA or any of the newer stuff. As for 2D, I got sick of the crap Capcom was piling on. Marvel Superheroes was unbalanced but fun, and something new. Then X-Men vs SF, then Marvel vs SF, then Marvel vs Capcom, then MvC2, and all the crap in between, yadda yadda... Games that, with a few exceptions, encourage easy gameplay and button-mashing to win. One or two characters dominated the games, etc... I just got fed up. After living and BREATHING SSF2T and Alpha 2, I couldn't stand playing this crap. So I gave up and haven't gone back since. And you're right, Capcom has done nothing but release old crap time after time. I have no interest at all in it anymore. And that's a shame.

The day I worry about germs on my asscheeks is the day my balls fall off. If there's piss or shit on the seat, I wipe it off with a handful of toilet paper. (if it's real bad, I go to another toilet.) Germs'll get on you wether you're using pieces of paper or not. There's germs everywhere in the damn bathroom, that ain't gonna stop em.

I'm really, really worried about this movie, should it come to pass. I'm a bit of a purist as far as Star Trek though. I've read and am reading every novel, and follow the "complete" canon as it were. Kirk, Spock, and/or McCoy never met at Starfleet Academy. Kirk met Spock when he first came on board the Enterprise (Vonda M McIntyre's novel Enterprise) and while he knew McCoy previously, it was not from the Academy. I just hate that they might throw out 25-some years worth of canon for a new movie. They did it in Nemesis, ignoring their OWN canon from the TV show. Picard HAD hair in the academy, and up through the time he commanded the Stargazer, and ended up in his bald state towards the end of the Stargazer run. They showed him with hair in a couple of occasions during flashbacks in TNG. Just plain sloppy. Personally, I'd like to see one of two movies: 1 - A movie based around the new Titan movies, with Riker in command of the U.S.S. Titan. It'd be a chance to show off some GREAT special effects, since have of his crew are wacky-ass aliens made of jelly, one that has to live in water, one that looks like an elephant or some shit... 2 - Something to do with "The Lost Era" of novels, with the Enterprise C, or possibly Sulu on the Excelsior.

Since the new (allegedly) SBTB won't have Elizabeth Berkley stark naked for the whole thing, I doubt I'll watch.

hmm... -Segal putting the knife through the top of the bad guy's head at the end of Under Seige--pretty sudden and unexpected. -Bishop getting impaled and then cut in half by the Alien Queen in Aliens. I was like 7 when I saw it -Spock dying in The Wrath of Khan. Oh, and Kirk yelling KHAAAAAAAN of course. -John Carpenter's The Thing. Still one of the few movies I consider scary or genuinely disturbing. Wilford Brimley as a disgusting alien tentacle thing? Gold. -Bruce Willis walking on broken glass in bare feet in Die Hard. -Jesse Ventura proclaiming he's a "sexual tyranosour" in Predator. -Buzzsaw getting his nuts sawed off in The Running Man. -Pretty much the entire movie Commando. Especially the one liners. Matrix: "Don't disturb my friend. He's dead-tired." or Matrix: "Hey Sully, remember when I said I'd kill you last?" Sully: "Yeah, you promised you'd kill me last." Matrix: "I lied." and then Rae Dawn: "What happened to Sully?" Matrix: "I had to let him go." Gold. EDIT: and I just realised Dangerous A posted that. oops
