Myself, I like it when people use some flash. Otherwise it would be more like college wrestling or MMA. Not that those are bad, but this is "pro wrestling." If someone can do a backflip while beating you, that's damn impressive. If you look at pro wrestling as being "real," each wrestler is trying to gain notoriety, fame, earn more money, and impress. The more famous they become, the more money they have the chance to earn, the more the crowd loves/hates them, etc. It's also about showmanship and demonstrating how much better they are than their opponents.

Eugene could go heel by adopting various different old school personas in addition to Doink. I think the heel turn shouldn't come for another year or until the gimmick is getting stale, then have him start "admiring" old school heels. "Heel Savage" and have him abuse Hemme, "Heel Jake Roberts" and have him become sinister and psychological while scaring people with a snake, "Heel Flair" that cheats at every turn and has a couple guys that help him injure anyone that gets in his way. Not to mention the countless other heel characters he could start emulating. Just drop the Stunner, Rock Bottom, and other face moves and go total heel ring psychology.

I view this as much more believable than the Destroyer. To me, it is the impact of a powerslam, with the opponent taking basically the same bump they would from a powerslam, but add the velocity that it would take for Burchill to perform a backflip while holding a man in one arm. I'm pretty sure that Lesnar, Burchill, and other really strong guys that are agile could probably hold a weighted dummy in one arm and complete half a backflip. The opponent assists like on just about every wrestling move for two reasons, to make it easier and safer.

This is easily the third or fourth thread about Burchill. I started one of them to ask about his progress in OVW and if they allowed him to wrestle that style. I figured the best way to bring him in was to have him dominate a few smaller wrestlers (not necessarily the cruiser division) for a month or two and have him do some limited impressive spots. After that, have him move to midcard and get him up to par doing consistently good matches. In two years time, you could have a hell of a main eventer! Now that it looks like he is being grouped with Regal, I like this idea better. Not only will it give another tag team to an abysmal division, he can get built up slowly while learning all sorts of good shit from Regal. Regal can be the mouthpiece if he can't do a good promo.

Yeah, I mentioned them in my post in this thread. I had them down as a possible Raw team for my proposed Tag Tournament. Trevor Rhodes changed his last name to Murdoch as a take off of Dick Murdoch. Maybe it is because Dusty might come into the company and they don't want "confusion."

We have discussed tag teams in several threads, but due to this being a thread of its own, I will rehash my thoughts on how they could rebuild the divisions. ---On Raw, Bischoff should strip the Superheroes of the titles and announce that the titles will be vacated for one month's time. He also announces that in one month will be the start of the "Heenan Cup," (or some other famous wrestling name...I figured Heenan was a big part of the tag history and is on good terms). This tournament will be open to 8 tag teams, must be impressive to Bischoff and available for contract by him, and the winners not only get the titles, but also $500,000 which Bisch has secured through sponsors, ad revenue, merchandising, etc. Bischoff states that he wants to be bigger and better than Smackdown in every way, including the tag division. Bischoff wants a return to good tag team wrestling, which means a team name and matching attire will be necessary to sway his interest of entering the team in the tournament. This allows individuals one month to find a partner and get their tag work down. They can be revealed over the course of the month before the tourney starts. The semifinals and finals would be on a Raw only PPV. The tag teams could be The Superheroes, Heart Throbs, Shane Twins, Danny Basham & Sean Morley (after giving them a name), Masters & Snitsky (already teaming up but need a name), TNT (Cade and Trevor Rhodes), The Thrillseekers (Jeter?Capotelli in OVW, after Matt recovers from his broken leg), and Tank and Chad Toland (OVW). You can send the OVW teams back down after the tournament if necessary and just use them occasionally to keep them in the fans' minds. ---Over on Smackdown, Teddy Long basically justs starts debuting more teams and sgowcasing the tag teams a little more to compete with Bischoff. After some signing that have already taken place, he has LOD2005, MNM, Mexicools, bWo, Nunzio/Vito, Spanky/London, Doring/Roadkill, and Ballz/Axl. This gives both shows 8 credible tag teams that could still have some members wrestle individually from time to time, but they are available tag teams whenever needed for feuds, matches, etc.

Yeah, ECW had no idea, which is why they didn't get the belt off him. That is also the reason they got Tazz to come in and take the title off him, as they thought WCW might get in his ear and entice him not to cooperate. From what was reported, Awesome was afraid Tazz was going to legit hurt him.

I would have Vince McMahon overseeing both shows (I am trying to be realistic, and Vince not being involved wouldn't be). Raw: Ricky Steamboat, Arn Anderson, Mick Foley, and Jim Cornette (bring him back) Smackdown: Dean Malenko (for the cruisers), Fit Finlay, Ted Dibiase, and Paul Heyman The only problem with this is Foley needing lots of time to write his books. But, if he could write his first book while keeping up a full wrestling schedule, he should be able to do this.

A couple of things I am excited for because of this news: -James Gibson grew up about 15 minutes from me in Hanover, WV. I of course cheer him on and am glad he is back in WWE. -Spanky and Noble can have some serious matches with London if they will let them. -The tag team situation on Smackdown could get a whole lot better with Spanky/London, Nunzio/Vito, Mexicools, bWo, MNM, LOD2005, and possibly Doring/Roadkill, Ballz/Axl. Alas, we must wait and see if WWE will even allow any of this to materialize.

Just as an aside on the subject of tag teams, I would like to have Bischoff eventually strip the Superheroes of the belts. As he does it, he makes an announcement that one month from then he will hold the first ever "McMahon Cup" (or another big name in wrestling), and the winners get the tag titles plus a huge monetary sum. The reason for him to the tournament would be to attract a big number of tag teams to hopefully revamp the division. Giving everyone a month before the tournament would give people time to find a partner and get used to wrestling with them. So there's one more tournament style angle I would like to see.

Are you guys actually trying to tell me that a round robin tournament where there are differing points awarded or subtracted depending on the outcomes of the matches used as a way to crown a champion of a vacant title, or determine the number contender for a title is better than the current WWE idea of an over the top battle royale? END OF SARCASM Edit: Wow, way to make that unreadable! I changed the sentence structure so you wont have an aneurism when you read it.

I was thinking he was going for keeping the Muhammed Hassan gimmick, and having the character of Hassan apologize for going too far and agreeing that he shouldn't have taken it that far. I didn't mean to imply that I thought the man playing the character wasn't allowed on SD at all. That made me look like a 12 year old fanboy, huh?
-
Best idea I have seen for him, but he would have to do it on Raw due to the ban.

Who's the girl in your avatar, naiwf?

Well, JBL came through on his promise of victory. And I guess it will be Batista/Taker/JBL at Slam.

I would like Triple H to go back to his 2000-2001 heel persona more than his Evolution persona. The only thing different that I would have is to make him a tweener, and keep him out of the world title picture. He could still be seen as main event, but keep him away from title shots for a while.

Copani is his actual last name. Magnus was his ring name before adopting the Muhammed Hassan gimmick. I agree, though, "Mark Magnus" is a good enough name. The only thing is how easily he will be recognized because of his tattoos, face, build, moveset, etc. This is really unfortunate for such a young wrestler with some potential.

Speaking of Bulldog, does anyone have a picture of when he was the most muscular/bloated with steroids? I think someone had a picture in a sig here, and I'm pretty sure it was around Rumble 95 or not long after. He is even larger than this pic, and was looking like his heart would explode any moment.

Well, to be fair, Hardy lost out on a Wrestlemania paycheck and then lost his job, as the guy that fucked his girlfriend got the paycheck, won the match, and got a title shot good for one year.

Tim White is listed as a road agent for WWE now. That is from obsessedwithwrestling.com, but not sure how accurate it is. I think he is "retired" as a ref due to the severe shoulder injury.

Just curious as to what DVD's have the bexst commentary tracks. I love a good commentary if it gives little tidbits about how they did something, informs me of alternate plans they had, or is very funny. What are your top DVD's for commentaries?

She hasn't. Nobody said she has.

While it would make sense from a big match standpoint to have Batista/Taker at SummerSlam, there is a reason they are not going to do it at this time. SummerSlam should have huge title matches since it is either the second or third biggest show of the year, but there is no way they chance Batista not getting a bigger pop than his opponent right now. They do not want the crowd to boo him, or even cheer for his opponent at all right now.

Careful there. You don't want tourism in W.V. to plummet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> While it is a funny jab, the premise is all wrong. Tourism wouldn't suffer in theory because the West Virginians themselves are the ones who enjoy the bestiality. Otherwise, you are making a joke that every other state has people dying to visit West Virginia to have sex with overweight animals. It was a nice effort, though. Besides, we have the Hatfield-McCoy Trail, which is a tourism boom right now.

The way it went down was Jackyl was scouting a few wrestlers, and would come down for commentary or just stage or ringside to watch. He came out for Bradshaw and Faarooq's matches, and then debuted them as the "Jackylites." He was doing a mind control angle at the time, and they were his "followers." Shortly after, Callis (Jackyl) was let go, and rather than scrap the team, they were "brainwashed" by Taker to be the first part of the ministry. Pick up with the kidnapping of Dennis Knight here.
