WWE To Now Exclusively Call Their Talent "Entertainers"
Dandy replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
King Cuch, my imaginary quote from an entertainer up there was tongue in cheek. I doubt they will take all forms of the word wrestler away. However, my point still stands that this is retarded. -

No harm, Silence. Scroby, I agree with what you say, but I still think calling them entertainers is unnecessary. This could all be handled behind the scenes without using a term that is going to make commentary, promos, and pretty much the entire show sound weird and confusing and totally unbelievable. The fact that it is a scripted event down to the last detail should be enough. It is like any other show, but the parts they are playing is "wrestlers." Other shows do not refer to their charactors as actors. They are supposed to be portraying "real life characters," and this does not allow that. "John Cena might be one of the greatest...entertainers of all-time, but when I step into that ring with him, I'm going to out-...uh...I'm going to kick his BUTT. No one can wr...uh...no one can...shit...uh...do what I do, as well as I can. I entertain very well...fuck it. This is ridiculous. I'll just wrestle in Japan." -

I must have missed the "it happened once so everyone should know about it" meeting. Also, I was replying from a page that was different than the page she made the post on and didn't remember who said it. I had a 99.7 percent chance of being correct when I said "the guy." -
It's the first trailer, not the Cliff's Notes on what will go down this year.

WWE To Now Exclusively Call Their Talent "Entertainers"

I think this is what they're trying to do, Dandy. That wasn't what I meant. I meant behind the scenes without changing the on-screen product in a ridiculous manner. I didn't make it clear with the way I worded that. And the guy that said it is going to sound ridiculous nailed why I think so badly of this move. It just makes the show seem stupid and hard to like. There is much better television all over the place, and I only watch out of habit because I have been watching it non-stop for 25 years. I am addicted to watching wrestling. -

To clarify, I wasn't saying that this single insignificant event was going to make me finally stop watching. There have just been so many changes to get the product away from what I liked about it, that I can see my interest slipping away to almost nothing. They can't say: belt, strap, title, wrestle, wrestler, female wrestler, title-holder, etc. If they wanted to go this route, they should get a ruling from court that they are nothing more than an entertainment company, and it is not an athletic event. However, the TV shows and PPV's should promote the characters and matches as real for the viewing audience. Kayfabe is long gone for the majority of the people, yet we still watch. All of the "realistic" aspects are being stripped away one by one, and I don't like the direction it's headed. Every dumb decision over the last several years have brought me to this point, not just the decision to call them entertainers. -
Someone that has not debuted yet.

I think I might stop watching wrestling. Having OCD and being addicted to watching since I was four years has made it very tough to quit watching totally, but it just keeps getting more ridiculous. Oh how I wish someone with a lot of money and common sense would take over an NWA promotion and make it national again. Edit---"National," as in touring the entire country, having recognizable names and a national TV show in primetime. And you know, not be confusing as all fuck like TNA right now. -
DarKnight and cabbageboy go shopping?
-
Theoretically, that should have happened with every board invasion.

---Before the Maff Clan took over the forums, Mike was heavily considering a "lease to own" option to Stephen Joseph Popick. The deal fell through when Popick couldn't pay the $3/per month. ---Bob Barron uses trick photography to superimpose his likeness with celebrities, and to make himself look short with sausage fingers. ---Marvin nairs to get his look. It's simply attention-seeking. ---DarKnight is intelligent. ---TSM is going to wither and die soon. What rumors have YOU heard?
-
There's a black man in the background?
-
While not a rumor, I would like to take the time to point out that anyone could be pictured holding a guitar.
-
Kinetic, this thread is meant for things that did not actually happen.
-
I think we should be highly conceptual and invade TSM.
-
Still $3.05 here, and I have pretty much accepted the "living right next to the refinery" theory is true. It was a few pages back if you missed it.
-
"Fuck off. We don't want you here."
-
I bet you have.

For high school teams, Poca, WV has the Dots. That's right...the Poca Dots. Mick Foley mentioned this in his book but remembered it as Polka.
-
I have another one: ---Marvin fully understands this thread.
-
Considering the viewpoint of the previous comments, I heartliy accept that rumor, pbone.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, angelslayer, but if we close all the windows, we won't be able to see TSM.
-
It's because I haven't been posting much. I'll try to pick it up some, and things will turn around.

Charleston, WV used to have the Charleston Wheelers, a play on the sternwheel boats prevalent in the city. That was not a bad name at all, but they switched it to the Alley Cats, and after losing that team, gained a new team called the West Virginia Power. The name is from Appallachian Power, the local utility affiliate of AEP. I do like the name Power Park, but the team name is pretty stupid. That said, I have heard much worse, and there are some good (bad?) names in this thread. On the same vein as Minneapolis>L.A. Lakers, the Jazz moving from New Orleans to Utah was a horrible time to keep a team's name in tact.
