Comments which don't warrant a thread.

I never saw that Onion article. Sounds promising.

    WWE Draft 2008

No, JR has mentioned that he doesn't like to know when the finish is coming so he can call it with real reactions. He knows what matches are happening when, and the script covers every detail of how the show is laid out otherwise. He might know when a match should wrap up due to the time constraints, but he liked to have that real reaction. I believe he said it was more so on PPVs, which is where he doesn't even like to know the winner.

    That would have been cool.

    WWE Draft 2008

I would say that Ross' feelings were hurt that he wasn't told, for one thing. The man used to be a top executive for this company, and he likes working the live show with his friend and long-time colleague. The show he is on has the longest tenure, the best ratings, and maybe his current schedule is more suitable for his other business interests. He has worked that schedule for years. The other side of the coin is that WWE likes the announcers to be genuinely surprised by the outcomes to get a truer emotion from their announcing. It has been reported that they do not know when a match will finish, and sometimes do not know who will win. I thought JR was wither doing an excellent job of acting surprised/disgusted last night, or he had no clue that was going to happen. I side with JR on this one. The company should have talked to him and notified him before the show.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

I agree with that, Maz. But having no gimmick is the gimmick for them (now). They come from an era where it was mostly just wrestle other people and vie for titles. That is the dual complexity of drafting people from vastly different eras. You have to try to make your roster mesh. Updating and changing people just seems to go too far into fantasy booking instead of showing how you make the pieces you drafted work. I don't really have a problem with it, as I'm only an observer. I am enjoying watching everything unfold, but that just didn't make sense to me.

If you wanted to do it publicly so others could join in, the Chocolate Socket works well.

Yeah, I think they envisioned the ratings going up significantly, and they would continue to do the money giveaway. Its insignificance in the ratings made it a situation where they needed to stop wasting a million per week. This was a way to do it. Of course, they also could have just advertised that this was the final week of giving away the money, it had the single biggest payout of the contest, etc., but they also wanted to start a big angle.

What's retarded about answering a question in my own opinion? Flame me elsewhere.

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

The way I understood this draft is that you are selecting specific wrestlers from a specific era. While you might not be mentioning an exact year, you are clarifying, for example, "Crow Sting, not Surfer Sting." You couldn't say, "Sting, but I am going to have him be a tweener with no face paint and have him come out in jeans and be like Stone Cold Steve Austin." That is creating a character, not drafting one.

I am ashamed that you thought I was comparing their talents. Carlin is my favorite comedian ever as far as standup goes, and I do not watch the other two. The question I was answering was "Does our generation have any comedians that will generate that type of reaction ("torn to shreds" -Milky) when they die?" LTCG is not a good comedian, but he has a loyal, loyal following that is very large. That was the question, not whether or not any comedians in this generation are on the same level talent-wise or influenced the art as much.

    Carl's Jr. & Hardee's

We have a Rally's, Five Guys, Chik-Fil-A, Hardee's, Sonic, and Steak 'n' Shake here, along with your more prominent fast food locations that everywhere has. I left out a lot of others that are fast food and not the more prominent places, now that I think about it.

I didn't know that. Everywhere I go, I see and hear references to LTCG. I'm not just talking about WV, either.
  14. That Scroby filter is weird. I never understood why there was a Scroty filter anyway.
  15. Scroty Well, it is working there.

Larry the Cable Guy has started a phenomenon similar to "Where's the Beef?" He popularized the Git 'R Done thing that is emblazoned on shirts, bumper stickers, decals, tattoos, you name it. Because of his target audience, he is one of the more well-known comedians of this era. I honestly believe that if you conducted a poll, more people would recognize the name Larry the Cable Guy than Dane Cook. The guy is one dimensional and a total gimmick, but that's just the way I see it. He is known by the masses, and if he can keep or grow that fanbase for another 15 years, as I said, there will be an awful lot of sad people the day he dies. Again, I am not even a fan of the guy, but he is everywhere.

I thought they should have emptied the locker room and has them trying to help until Paramedics told them to give them room.
  20. There is a word filter for Scr oby that reads Scroty. It only works half the time.

I had a few brief thoughts as the Vince angle was happening: At first, I was getting a "Final Destination" vibe from it as it didn't all happen at once. It was like death was trying to catch up with him since he avoided it before. Then, I immediately began to think of the suspects that were trying to kill him. First thought I had was Ric Flair. I know it sounds retarded, but Vince was way too quick to patch it up with Flair tonight. It was like they wanted to make sure Flair is not pissed at Vince. I then thought of Vince's kids or wife, then Triple H.

As bad as I hate to say it, Larry The Cable Guy. He appeals to a large fanbase. He is nowhere near those guys mentioned, but if he continues to hold that fanbase for another 15 years or so (and stops making horrid movies), their will be much weeping when he passes. I am not a big fan of the guy, just weighing in on the question.

Meltzer keeps speculating that there's something wrong with his shoulder I have always remarked that one of his shoulders juts forward or the other one juts out, depending on which way you would look at the situation. When he walks to the ring with the sleeves cut off his t-shirt, you can really tell it. Is that similar to what Meltzer is saying?

    All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft

So you are going to ret-con them into something they never were before? I wish I would have gotten in this draft so I could have made Juventud Guerrera into an All-American, charismatic powerhouse, a la Hulk Hogan. Seriously, is this allowed?
