I'm sorry Rant, but Comcast has sucked for me and I couldn't be happier after my switch to DirecTV. I don't care about the on Demand shit as it only worked 5% of the time with Adelphia and then Comcast, so I don't miss not having it. I have had my internet out for all but about 24 hours over the past 3 1/2 weeks. I kept making calls to complain and get a service call. We had three guys out here over that time. My roommate was the only one here the first time and he has no backbone. The modem started working like an hour before the guy showed up. He looked at it and said, "well, it's working now," and my roommate said, "Oh Okay." The second guy never came in the house becasue he was convinced that DireccTV had used Comcasts lines and spliced away from my modem on the outside lines. I told him I helped them install the new lines, but he was convinced he was right. He called to say he was here and going to check the box outside. He changed out a new connector and called and asked if it was working. I said yes and he hung up and left. The internet went out again an hour later. The third guy came this morning and I made him listen to everything that had happened and told him that whenever I had this much of a problem before, there was water and leaves in the box outside. He walked back and saw that the tap on the outside pole had two splitters coming off one and 3 coming off another. They aren't supposed to do that but there were 22 customers and only 16 lines. He said he couldn't believe they would do that or that the other guys reported it as fine. They are finally coming today to redo the taps. The only issue with DirecTv was that the girl who took my order worded it like I was purchasing the HDDVR box for $199. That is a one time lease fee for two years. I owe nothing after that, but I don't own the box. That is a minor complaint, but at least I can watch TV with a decent signal and not have to put up with the Comcast "service."

    The Ignore List is Fantastic

You know I'm kidding. See it was just a joke because I could never be on your ignore list, and at the same time, I would never say "Fuck Hoff" unless I was telling my numerous bitches to have coitus with you.

    "Why?"

Why not, man? You're sitting on a gold mine!

    Let's send Ripper some water

It has pissed the rain here for the past 4 days (although not so far today). I don't think there is a drought in my area anymore.

This series should continue with the next installment: Carlito Brigante.

I switched to DirecTV, and got the premiere package. I have HD DVR, every channel, NFL Sunday Ticket, and 5 boxes total (counting the two that my neighbor is using). I used my parents as a referral and got $10 off each month for 5 months, had to purchase the HD DVR box for $200, and the package I got was supposed to be $69.99 per month for 4 months, but they gave it to me for $49.99 (before the $10 off per month). With my neighbor paying 1/4th of the bill each month, we have a kickass TV package that is very affordable. This is my first experience with HD, and I am more than satisfied!

That was almost the same run-in booking as the Joe/Cage match.

Bound for Glory taking place in Atlanta

Well, the guy that has the stream up switched the audio to Spanish, ruining the feel of the PPV for me. Hard to complain about a free PPV, but that commentary does nothing for me. Aaaaaaaaaaaand he just switched it back.

Good match, but I could have done without Styles and Tomko's interference.

    MLB Off-season Thread

I am extremely disappointed in the hiring of Dusty Baker. It was a pipedream, but I was holding out hopes that Joe Girardi would accept a deal to manage the Reds. Hell, I would have preferred Mackanin got a permanent gig. I have never thought much of Baker's managerial "prrowess," but I guess we'll have to see how this pans out. I am not giving up before he has even been with the team for a day, and he may in fact surprise me. At this point, however, color me unimpressed.

Does knowing a simillar plot line...

I liked The Fast and the Furious the first time I saw it, back when it was called "Point Break." That ruined that movie for me, but I am also not into those types of cars. If they were all muscle cars, the movie would have rocked.

    TNA Talent May Leave

Not sure which version of English you speak, but it is a logic puzzle that I saw from elementary school all the way through college. In the above scenario, you could not assume that Butterscotch was a rabbit just because he eats carrots. A common logic puzzle would be: 1. All rabbits eat carrots. 2. Troubles is a rabbit. 3. _________________ The answer would be "John eats carrots." Basically, I'm telling you to stop assuming things as fact if it hasn't been reported. That is how rumors get started on the internet and you won't get off to a good start here by doing that. English enough for ya?

    1. Rabbits eat carrots. 2. Butterscotch eats carrots. You would infer that to mean that Butterscotch is a rabbit, huh?

I know that you are not technically allowed to do what I want to do with DirecTV, Marv. It stands, however, that I will still be able to physically do it. It will work, DirecTV just would never give me permission to do it. Thanks for the channel lineup on the HD front. All of those channels would be amazing. I am still curious on the question I posed on whether or not my TV would make me getting the HD package worthwhile. It does not have HDMI, has two component connections, and is at 1080i. Thanks for any additional help.

I was under the impression that 1080i is equal to 540p, which is why it could not do 720p. I am nowhere near an expert on this, however. Also, no one has given an opinion on my upcoming decision. Any help? Just found out today that my neighbor is going to pay a portion of my satellite bill to have a box in his house (already set up for the service from before) which is making me lean even further toward getting DirecTV. The question still remains on whether or not I should get the HD service or wait.

Okay, videophiles, help me out here... I am currently mulling over switching to DirecTV from Comcast. For the same price, I can get more channels, more HDTV channels, and will be able to have tons more channels in other rooms than my living room. Before I make the switch, I am looking over my entire situation. Feel free to chime in if you can help me out. Current cable plan: Comcast (just took over for Adelphia in the area and have not changed much at all) Digital Cable; roughly 125 channels including 10 HBO channels; DVR built into the digital box; OnDemand that works about 50% of the time, and the only thing I watch on there is HBO movies; big screen in living room has the cable box, 3 bedrooms have basic cable. By having cable internet (had to switch from DSL about 5 years ago when I moved 3 blocks into this apartment becasue DSL apparently wasn't available in this building???) combined with the digital cable, I get a discount of like $10 a month on my internet. If I drop the cable, the cost of my internet goes up. Considering switching to: DirecTV Premier Plan including sports channels, HBO, Starz, Showtime, etc.; HD DVR box ($199); HD channels. Current TV specs: Panasonic Cinemavision 53" rear projection 1080i widescreen HD ready TV; 2 component connections is the best option. I am probably going to be moving within a year's time into my first house. I don't want to purchase a new TV until I see what my house is going to be like and what the set-up will be. I am not happy with Comcast's service for the price I am paying, and I want to add the HD channels. DirecTV has many more HD channels than Comcast, but the sheer increase of channels over Comcast would make it worth it as is. Also, I can have up to four boxes installed for free, so the channels that are in the bedrooms would be loads better. However, is my current TV going to be adequate for the HD channels? I would prefer having a TV with HDMI connections, but like I said, I'm not looking to a get a new TV until after I move into my house. I also have no idea if there will be a large cost involved with having DirecTV re-installed after I move. Should I get the HD package and shell out the $200 for the HD DVR? Should I make the switch to DirecTV but wait to upgrade my plan after I get a better HD TV? Should I suffer through until after I move and then make the switch to DirecTV?
