  2. When I said that booking was a big part of Cena's perceived greatness, I did not mean specifically that was the only reason he was thought of as being very good. I simply said that if you put others in that spot, and push them to the moon and allow them to overcome the odds like that, most would get a good reaction as well. Not every single person, but most with any talent at all could make it work. The fans have bought into the hype, and the push has been tremendous for Cena's career. Goldberg was pushed as a god and got a huge reaction from the crowd. He was a main eventer in the fans' eyes. What if a different wrestler would have been given that role and push? Booking does matter, because if Cena were still performing good but was trading wins in the midcard and getting squashed by main eventers, his reactions would no doubt be lessened, and he would not be perceived as the best in the world. Personally, I don't hate Cena at all, but I find his offense to be unbielevable in terms of putting away everybody with shoulderblocks, punches, and clotheslines. If he were to do more work on a body part from time to time, incorporate more strikes, and have more reversals, I could actually buy him as being the best. Right now, he just comes off as "brawler" to me, and that doesn't make me think of greatest wrestler in the world. And as far as selling goes, Truthiness, I said he sells very well individually. For selling individual moments and moves, he does exceptionally well, and I agree that is a big part of what makes him an above average worker. However, he could have his knee, arm, leg, back, etc. completely destroyed through the course of a match, and then just ignore everything his opponent had built as far as psychology and the story of the match by forgetting about what had happened and moving into his usual arsenal. To me, the best worker in the world should be able to find a way to sell a severely damaged body part and still complete moves. This adds to the match, and makes him even more believable.
  3. Cena is easily the best wrestler on Raw, and it'd be a hell of a argument too who is a better wrestler in the world, right now. Henry isn't afwul. I agree on Micheals. Because of his push or because of his talent? I think he does a good job of working with various styles of opponents and had entertaining matches because he gets such big reactions (good or bad). However, his offense is not crisp or varied enough; his selling is tremendous on an individual basis but terrible in the context of an entire match; and his character is stale if you want to include that aspect of wrestling. If you put other people in his main event role and gave them a god push, they could get over at his level, too. Not everyone, but most competent wrestlers could. He has been pushed as a god, and the fans have accepted that he is a main event player because of it. It's buying into the role that WWE gave him. In a predetermined "sport," it's kind of hard to not accept the pushes the wrestlers are given as their level, because the don't have real matches to determine who is the best.

    LOST

From what I can decipher of the newspaper article, it says, "Man's Body Found in Downtown Loft." Then it says the "body of J------- ----antham of New York." I have no idea how many letters are missing, or what the are, but it looked like Jo, Ja, or Je to me. Something from the Dark Tower series that was mentioned at the IMDB boards: -Jack mentions his father as being alive. -Kate is not locked up. -Jack said he was tired of lying. This could be that they are in an alternate reality when the leave the island. Jack's father never died in this reality, Kate was never on the run, etc. The Dark Tower series is apparently about people going to an alternate reality of their lives and trying to get back.

    My Name is Earl

I would have him be in jail for at least the first few episodes of the season. Being Ralph's cellmate will definitely get Earl in some bad situations. Randy can not function without Earl, as was shown after the sentencing, so he has a story as well. Joy and Darnell will have their own thing to do, and the deaf lawyer will be trying to get Earl out of jail. I'm sure that can take up 6 episodes or so.
  8. Perhaps. I don't think his character calls for the way he talks, though. They could easily have him not talk at all. When he says "Cena," and it sounds like "SGRAHNHAY," that simply does not sound like he is playing a character. It sounds like he can't enunciate consonants and vowels in English.
  9. So why did he have subtitles in The Longest Yard? I wouldn't think they would have him speak unintelligibly if he could actually speak well.
  10. So where does that leave Harry Smith if TJ Wilson is going to FCW? Is Harry already in OVW?

    5 Greatest Intercontinental Champions

Orton and Shelton both had great runs. I am not putting them in the top 5, just commenting that they both had great runs. The held the title for a long period of time, and they had a match (usually for the title on TV every week, where it was a competitive back and forth match. That is a good way to build the title up. As for the top 5, I would say: 1. Savage---He was the wrestler that made me take notice of the IC title, even though I was watching when other wrestlers held it before him. He had a terrific run with the belt, and the Steamboat feud put this reign over the top as the best IC reign ever for me. Savage later becoming World Champ established a "push" pattern that worked very well since then. 2. HBK---I liked the matches he had while he was an IC champ. Also, I liked how he wore different colored straps every now and then, as the white leather strap IC belt is my favorite of all time. 3. Bret---Followed the Savage "push" of allowing his singles work with the second tier belt to catapult him into a believable main eventer. Bret got to shine as a worker. 4. Mr. Perfect---Awesome wrestler that should have been a World Champ at some point in his career. This was as high as he got in the WWF, and to me, it was believable that the IC Champ could defeat the World Champ any night (until they booked Perfect to lose to Hogan night in and night out). 5. The Rock---His matches weren't on par with the others on this list, but he was always entertaining, and a major focus of the show. If he hadn't been handed the title by Steve Austin for his secons reign, it would have been better in my opinion.

It's not a photoshop. Moss is the corporate spokesman for Intajuice. One was put in last year in Charleston, WV, near where he grew up and played high school ball. I live in Huntington, where he went to college at Marshall. I want to open a franchise of it here in Huntington because he goes to the grand openings and is hands on with promotional work for the locations.

    LOST

I still cannot bring myself to read any of the black lined spoilers. I can't remember exactly what small thing I checked last week, and if it was in the Lost or Heroes board. Needless to say, that was the last spoiler on those shows that I check until the season is over.

I imagine that the sprinklers, alarm system, etc. was damaged, as well as everything in the room. Also, I'm sure the hotel didn't say, just replace it at cost. I'm sure they marked up everything and included how long they can not rent out the room while it is rebuilt and repaired.

    What did you eat today?

Today started a diet for me where I will be eating no fast food or restaurant foods, low fat, lower carb, and high protein (not as much as I used to eat, just about the same grams as lbs of body weight). I will continue to drink high amounts of water, since all I usually drink is water and alcohol. I am trying to drop weight from 235 to 205-210. I also started taking Xenadrine EFX, a multivitamin, and valerian root (supposedly for restful sleep), as well as 30 minutes of cardio or weightlifting at home or outside. Breakfast---small bowl of oatmeal Snack---protein bar Lunch---egg white sandwich on whole wheat toast, small lemon poppy seed muffin, protein bar Dinner---Baked chicken sliced up on a bed of baby spinach, with finely shredded parmesan cheese sprinkled over it and fat free raspberry vinaigrette dressing I was only really hungry between the snack and lunch, as I got caught up at work for 4 hours without anything to eat. The smaller portions spread out kept me full all day.

People Who Shouldn't Post Anymore: May 2007

This is like saying the sun's surface is hot, but Carlito Brigante is a waste of skin.
  23. After reading discussion about Kennedy and the MITB in another thread, this booking idea hit me. What if Kennedy were to get a shot at the title without using his MITB. Winning a number one contender's match, ambushing the champ, getting a non-title win over the champ, winning the Rumble, etc. During the match, Kennedy sees that he can't beat the champ, grabs a chair, destorys the champ and gets DQ'ed. He immediately cashes in the MITB, and pins a beaten down champ for the belt. I could be wrong, but I believe that is an angle not mentioned when we talked about various booking strategies with MITB. Seems like a smart wrestler would do anything he could to put himself in that position, rather than be passive and wait for an opportunity when the champ was beaten down. In fact, I think it would be fun to have Kennedy constantly trying to take the champ out, either by himself, or getting someone else to try it. Could be a good extended storyline that pops up ever so often.

    Heroes

I get what you are saying, but I see it as this: Until Hiro never returns to his present time, he is still on the path to return to his present time, thus still existing in the future (provided nothing happens to him in those 5 years). Had he died in the future, then future Hiro would have died as well. Remember how Marty's hand started disappearing in Back to the Future? Same premise with different circumstances.
