    Why don't they...

This would work. It really could. I can see Michaels doing this very effectively. Jason

    Why don't they...

If he's actually turned to Jesus (which it seems like he has from nearly all backstage indications), he would not allow himself to play a heel zealot character; it would cheapen his faith to a worldwide audience. Jason

    The Official Smackdown Spoilers Thread

It shouldn't be a big deal since it's a spoilers thread, but I did it just in case people were looking when they shouldn't have been. I think this should be the official Smackdown spoiler thread, so from now on don't look if you don't want to be spoiled (in case you were looking at whatever happened before the show started). Plus, we already have a discrepency between whoever's calling Meltzer and Mike Johnson from PWInsider.com, which is going to be after the ellipses. ... ... ... From PWInsider.com (updated throughout the night): Dark match: Paul London & Nunzio defeated Billy Kidman & Spike Dudley when London gave Kidman a top rope DDT (note whoever's calling Meltzer said Chavo and didn't indicate this as a dark match). The Big Show vs. Booker T. JBL and Kurt Angle were at ringside for commentary, since the winner of this match would move on to the three way with them next week to determine the number one contender to John Cena's WWE Title. Booker's wife, Sharmell, was at ringside for the match. Show and Booker battled to the floor, and Angle & JBL attacked them, ending the match in a double DQ. Angle & JBL believed they had eliminated both men from the match next week. General Manager Theodore R. Long came out and announced that next week would now be a Fatal Four Way with JBL vs. Kurt Angle vs. Booker T vs. Big Show to determine the number one contender. He also announced a tag team match with JBL & Angle vs. Booker & Show for later tonight. Carlito's Cabana, with Eddie Guerrero as guest. Eddie called out Rey Mysterio, who comes to the ring. Eddie explains that a year ago he was WWE Champion, and he has become obsessed with the belt and trying to get it back. Eddie asked Rey to forgive him for that, and said that he was going to stop thinking about what he doesn't have, and instead focus on what he does have, the WWE Tag Team Title and his family. Eddie said he considered Rey part of his family. Eddie and Rey made up, when MNM appeared on the screen. MNM demanded a WWE Tag Team Title match. Eddie told them if they wanted a title match, they needed to come out to the ring and challenge them like men. Melina said they were more comfortable backstage, and the camera pulled back to reveal that MNM were on Eddie's Lowrider. They left their "calling card" for the tag champs by spraypainting "MNM" on the side of the car. Eddie and Rey go back to the Lowrider, but MNM are gone. Eddie says there will be a tag title match tonight. Matt Morgan was interviewed backstage, and talked about debuting tonight on Smackdown. Morgan is doing a stuttering gimmick, like the old Buh Buh Ray Dudley gimmick in ECW. A backstage vignette was done for the Orlando Jordan vs. John Cena match later tonight, with Doug & Danny Basham being told they needed to make sure Cena was softened up for when JBL gets his eventual title match with Cena. Matt Morgan defeated an unannounced opponent in a squash with a suplex into a DDT. Morgan's theme music is the same as the music on the "Rise & Fall Of ECW" DVD. The Big Show & Booker T defeated JBL & Kurt Angle in a tag team match when Big Show chokeslammed JBL for the pin. Angle could have made the save, but instead just walked away and abandoned JBL. Heidenreich came out to the ring and said he had spent the last several days in New York looking for a friend. He said he found that friend, and wanted to bring him out to the ring. Out came his "new friend", the Brooklyn Brawler. Heidenreich read the Brawler a poem about being his friend, then asked him what he thought of it. Brawler said that the poem "sucked", he was embarrassed, and he wasn't Heidenreich's friend. Brawler said the only thing worse than his poem was when the New York Yankees choked against the Boston Red Sox. Brawler then took off his Yankees shirt, put on a Boston shirt, and claimed he is now "The Boston Brawler". Heidenreich, upset of Brawler not being his friend, laid him out with a side slam and walked off. MNM defeated Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. Towards the end of the match, Rey Mysterio set up Joey Mercury for a 619, but Melina stopped it. Eddie Guerrero chased Melina up the aisle, allowing Johnny Nitro to hit Rey from behind and set up the elevated DDT by MNM for the pin on Rey. Following the match, Guerrero and Mysterio argued, and Guerrero shoved Mysterio. Mysterio the shoved Eddie down, and walked away. MNM were shown getting into a limousine with the WWE Tag Team Title belts as paparazzi took their pictures. In the main event of Smackdown, WWE Champion John Cena defeated Orlando Jordan with the FU. Question about black people...

Sagan was a Cornell astronomer who was heavily involved in the American space program. He wrote a bunch of books dealing with astronomy. He was also voted by the Federation of American Scientists to be the "Most Visible Member of the Scientific Community of the Planet Earth." And yes, he was white. Jason

Very short game for the White Sox and Mariners today. Buehrle and Franklin worked very well and quickly in a 2-1 White Sox victory. Both pitched complete games, with Buehrle only giving up 3 hits (all to Ichiro) and one walk and Franklin giving up 4 hits, two of which were home runs to Konerko (up to 6 on the season). Buehrle struck out a career high 12 batters. The official time of the game was 1:39, making this the second game under two hours for Buehrle this season. Jason

    Mania XXII Predictions?

Benoit faced Undertaker on one of those UK-only PPVs, Rebellion on December 2, 2000 in Sheffield, UK. Undertaker won in 12:15. I watched the match on tape, it was ok. I think they could have a better match under more appropriate circumstances. I got the match time from prowrestlinghistory.com. Jason

You're right, I just got used to the Sox playing the Indians 6 times and thinking about Aaron. Aaron, coincidentily, hit terrible against the Sox. I'll fix it. Jason

    MLB Thread

I didn't get to see the game due to it only being on a Chicagoland channel today (and I'm in Champaign for college), but the White Sox beat Seattle 6-4. So, MLB's gameday pitch-by-pitch was my friend tonight. Garland had a perfect game through 6 innings, but a walk to Reed and a single for Beltre changed that. The bullpen struggled for Chicago, giving up 2 runs in the ninth until Dustin Hermanson (who appears to be the new closer over Shingo Takatsu) came in for the save. Juan Uribe had 4 RBI for the Sox and Bret Boone had all 4 RBI for Seattle. Jason

    Road Warriors DVD

How is it that the Road Warriors get JR but Chris Benoit got Todd Grisham? Wouldn't Grisham be better suited for the Warriors, considering their lack of scientific wrestling skill, and JR be better suited for Benoit's matches? Well, Grisham would be better suited for not commentating ever again, but you all get my point. Jason

"Best of Walker Texas Ranger clips on Conan"

I'm pretty sure it was. Regardless, I was laughing for about 5 minutes on that one. The worst part of the clip was that he didn't plan that as the last comedy bit before the commercial break, so he had one more anticlimatic somedy sketch after the AIDS thing and before commercial. Jason

"Best of Walker Texas Ranger clips on Conan"

Conan recently showed one where a kid talks as if he's really smart then, in a complete shocker, says to the old man next to Walker, "I have AIDS" or something very similar. That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV, and one of the stupidest things I'd ever seen in a Walker clip (including all the others Conan shows). It was on the show about a week ago where Conan was going through "old jokes they cut from previous shows." I don't know if it's in these clips (I haven't downloaded the videos), but it was hilarious. Jason

    Road Warriors DVD

I have a feeling all these are just promos (in case anyone thought these would all be matches). Still, the set looks great for the most part. Lots of historical moments and some good wrestling too (relatively speaking). Jason

8-6 Cleveland win. The White Sox played terrible defense (Carl Everett looked uncoordinated in LF when he hurt himself) and Cleveland capitalized with key hits at key times. Chicago had poor timing for their hits; most of the offense for the Sox started with two outs. Alex Cora played very well defensively for the Indians. Jason

RedSox Fans Show That They They Are

I watched it. Jason Edit: My fault, I thought this was the MLB thread for this week. I forgot what thread I was in. I'll copy and paste this into the MLB thread. On topic, I saw the replay and I'll agree with the majority of people here. Sheffield looked like he overreacted. The fan didn't seem to swing at him at all. But, in fairness, I don't know what I would have done if I were Sheffield in that situation. I probably wouldn't have done anything, but I can't know for sure. One thing for sure Sheffield messed up at was he swung at the fan while he still had the ball instead of immediately throwing the ball into the infield (like he should have). That's the biggest problem--he could have hurt his team through this.

Fun match with a terrible finish. After all those moves got two counts, that weak chair shot after a ton of time got the fall? But, that's about as good of a finish a TV main event gets these days. Jason

    Storm/JBL/Holly dispute

Not trying to justify Benoit's actions, but shouldn't Hassan be taking every piece of advice he can get? He is not very good in the ring. Heck, his manager is a better wrestler than he is. Jason

Heidenreich might be one of the worst wrestlers in a long time on a WWE show. He should be a bodyguard for someone; he can use poetry in his promos. Jason

Again, without sound, that segment looked completely ridiculous and seemed more like a midcard segment. It seemed childish, with some kind of animal parts involved, and that spinner belt is awful. Jason

April, 14, 2005 WWE SmackDown! Thread

I am watching Smackdown without sound on (I have the White Sox game on with audio), but just from watching MNM seemed like a huge deal, they seemed to carry themselves much better than most callups (like Mordecai, etc., but that's probably because they have been doing the gimmick in OVW), and had a very nice team finisher. They looked like stars, which is hard for new people in WWE. Jason

    MLB Thread

I didn't get a chance to comment on it last night, but the White Sox are winning so far exactly as they said they would. 5-4 win in 10 innings after Jose Contreras pitched very inconsistently to start the game (giving up a run in the first inning without giving up a hit, for example). Sacrifice fly to win the game by Juan Uribe. That makes the Sox 6-2 overall and 4-0 in one run games. This is the best start for the White Sox since 1991. Once again I will say, I'll enjoy it while it lasts. And it's especially sweet so far considering that a lot of experts picked both Cleveland and Minnesota to finish ahead of Chicago, but the White Sox have just won three series over these two teams to start the season. Is it way too early to celebrate? Yeah, but it's just a little fufilling to see them play hard through 8 games. Jason
