That's ok, I was in a rush and couldn't get to the idiot McCaskeys, so you were not in vein. Jason

Cubs - Tribune. They recently decided to spend money after years and years of being content with Wrigley Field selling out for a poor product. White Sox - Reinsdorf. Has a tight budget. One of the main reasons for the 1994 strike even though the White Sox had a chance at the World Series that year. Bulls - Reinsdorf. Since there's a salary cap he doesn't have to compete as hard in basketball financially. Baseball gets hit because there's no salary cap. Blackhawks - Wirtz. Worst owner in professional sports. He doesn't allow home games to be televised, keeps all his friends in the inner circle (like Pulford, he's had about five stints at GM), refuses to open his pocketbook, has traded off for little value or let contracts expire on every main (and popular) player he's ever had before their value had expired (Chelios, Roenick, Amonte, Belfour, and so on). Easily the worst owner in professional sports (not including MLB for the Expos) because he took a team that was selling out Chicago Stadium and made them into (last year) a team that had trouble filling half the United Center through constant ineptitude. TLC from 2002. Triple H vs Cactus Jack, Falls Count Anywhere from 1997 Jeff Hardy vs The Undertaker, Ladder match from 2002 Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Kane from 1998 Were the nominees. These were by far and away nowhere near the best Raw matches of the decade. Jason

Let's not forget about WrestleMania IX. Jason

Not bad. Not good. OK, but way overrated on Raw X as "match of the decade" on Raw or some other crap. Just to set up an angle; I have no idea why this is on here. OK match, cool finish. Novel, but no good. Extremely short, not very worthwhile other than the historical aspect. Excellent, but that goes without saying. Another excellent match. A complete farce and totally foolish. One of the worst main events in WM history. Good for a celebrity match. Would have been WWF match of the year if it weren't for Badd Blood, and according to many still was WWF match of the year. Not bad at all, but nowhere near WM XVII. Never seen any of these, but none of them look all that great with the possible exception of the first ECW match. Historical, if nondescript, match. Usual good DDP match. Usual bad Hogan match, but the place was electric. Overall, very historical selection. 3 awesome matches, a couple of pretty good ones, and a lot of bad ones. Jason

Mercy Drive comments on Randy Orton's theme song
ISportsFan replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in The WWE Folder
That's not exactly the kind of email or message board posting that a Christian rock band would make, if I were to make a guess. Jason -
Differences (off the top of my head): -Instead of a coin toss, they had a "fumble drill" scramble where the person who gained possession of the ball earned choices for the game. -Cameramen were on the field, players wore microphones. -No extra points: 1 point to go for it from the 3, 2 points from the 5, 3 points from the 10 (or something similar; this rule changed multiple times during the season). -No fair catches, but a halo existed I believe to prevent someone from getting killed. There are more differences, but I can't think of anything else right now. Wrestling tie-ins: -Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler were announcers. -The Rock showed up at halftime of a game in Los Angeles I believe. -They ran a storyline where Jesse Ventura and Rusty Tillman (NY coach) were in a feud. Again, more stuff I can't think of off the top of my head. Jason

I think it was being aired in the markets of the two teams that were playing. I believe they started doing local airings in week 2, after they realized how incredibly dumb it was to have Chicago and Orlando have teams playing in a game not on TV while they're watching a Las Vegas game. Jason
-
Also Armageddon 2004 in the Heat match with Chavo against Kidman and Akio. Jason

I went to the Chicago team's home opener. The problem was that the home opener wasn't until week 4, so much of the league's luster was gone by then. But, the crowd was still, I would guess, 35,000 in Soldier Field that day. The biggest problem the league had was week 1, in my opinion, when they had a dud of a game. Week 2's game in LA with Chicago v. LA was a phenominal, close game. It wasn't the best in terms of talent (obviously, since it's a secondary pro league), but it was really exciting, had some huge hits, and went into double overtime. If week 1 had a great game then the league might have been in better shape. If I remember correctly, the Chicago/Orlando game in week 1 with JR and the King commentating was shown in its entirety in 0% of the United States. Unfortunately for Vince, it was a good, close game (if I remember correctly). The Las Vegas game that was shown to everyone in the country with Vasgersian and Ventura commentating sucked, seemed long, and had no real energy. Jason

Here's the Gordy List questions, which I found on a search of the wrestlingclassics board. Jason

Heck, we even drew 8000ish for a recent Smackdown house show. I couldn't imagine that 8000 of my fellow Chicagoites would buy tickets for a Smackdown house show (with UT v. Heidenreich in a casket match), but they did. Jason

Allstate Arena is actually not a bad place at all. Every seat has a good view and it's quite a nice arena (especially after the renovation). Jason
-
The US Title 4-way and JBL v Eddy were both pretty good. -=Mike And the cruiserweight match wasn't bad at all. To put this show in perspective, Chavo v. Rey got 19 minutes for a CW match for 1 fall. Today had 5 falls in 9 minutes. Of course, that's better than WrestleMania that had 9 eliminations in 10 minutes. Jason

I'm sure Armageddon 2003 with Kane/HHH/Goldberg and everything on the undercard being horrible was worse. At least this show apparently had Cena and Angle (I didn't see it, but I guess it was decent). Jason

On every subsequent airing after they changed the logo in 1998 they've superimposed the scratch logo on the Survivor Series match. But, originally it was the previous WWF logo. Jason

The original plan, I think, was for Austin to have a challenger after he won the title for the summer. It would have been ready-made -- Austin has to defend against the guy who "pinned him two straight falls." Then they decided to go with the Power Trip angle. Correct me if I'm wrong. Jason

Meltzer said that TNA has replaced Scott Hall in the tag match with Eric Young. Jason Edit: Shoot, my fault. I thought I read everything already, but I guess not. My apologies.

North Korea says they have Nuclear Weapons
ISportsFan replied to UZI Suicide's topic in Current Events
I'm taking a math issues in national security class (with 3 professors (including an Air Force official), all involved in a Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security program), and all of my professors are quite skeptical that N. Korea has a nuclear weapon. They're not saying that they don't have one, but they all agree that it's not a guarantee and N. Korea might just be trying to scare off any attack. Also, they all said there's no possibility that N. Korea could hit any target in the U.S. with a nuclear weapon, with the possible exception of Alaska. They simply wouldn't have the technology (or finances to get the technology going) to have the capability for such a long distance launch. But, the real possibility would be to hit another nation in the Far East (such as Japan). That is where the real fear lies, if it is true that N. Korea actually does have the weapon ready. Jason -
I would definitely want Lesnar back. He'd instantly become a top-3 worker on Smackdown in the heavyweight division and would be huge for both box office (comparatively) and crowd response. His improvement in such a short time was amazing and if he came back he'd probably pick up fairly close to where he left off (i.e. No Way Out vs. Guerrero type good). Bring him back. I don't care if he is a primadonna behind the scenes (or was near the end of his run), all I see is the finished product. And his finished product was awesome by his matches against Benoit, Guerrero, and even Big Show. Jason

No mention of Rumble qualifiers or even all the Velocity matches, but it's something to get started with. I have to go to bed though. Jason

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1970647 Dogbert, they're at least going to be talking tomorrow. I don't know if this was posted elsewhere, but... The idea from SI is very interesting and unique, and I would definitely watch (because I like hockey), but I don't know if it would regain any casual fans after this ridiculously long lockout. Jason

I think this includes spoilers from the next 2 weeks. This is from wrestlingobserver.com. *Jeff Jarrett vs. Kevin Nash for NWA title *Abyss vs. Jeff Hardy in a TLC match *A.J. Styles vs. Christopher Daniels in an Iron Man match for the X title *AMW vs. Kid Kash & Dallas for the tag titles *Dustin Rhodes vs. Raven *Road Dogg & Jeff Hammond vs. Michael Shane & Frankie Kazarian *DDP vs. Scott Hall (added late) AMW v. Kash and Dallas looks pretty good, and the X title match looks awesome. Jason

Meltzer just added DDP v. Scott Hall to his list. I'll make the adjustments on the first post as well. That match doesn't look all that spectacular, though. Jason
