SNL "Lazy Sunday" Link from Last Night...

I thought last night's Saturday Night Live was the funniest I've seen in a long, long time, and this was one of the best parts.

    King Kong

I thought the worst part was the dinosaur chase, the movie could have definitely lost that and that would have trimmed some time. It was just completely unbelievable, even in the context of this movie.
  3. TWO DAYS BEFORE THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW Wed 10p/9c A global warming state of emergency is declared in South Park when the world's largest beaver dam breaks and floods the adjacent town of Beaverton. Who is to blame? Only Stan and Cartman know who's really at fault. Hell yes. It's back.

Simpsons Season 7 DVD Box set

Yeah, I bought the Marge head. That one was nearly sold out while the alternative box was stacked to the brim. Guess this board isn't a representative sample.
  5. Was there a new ep last night or is the half season over?

    King Kong

I think Ebert called it the best movie epic in years.

Javy Vasquez to the White Sox for El Duque, Vizcaino and OF projected mega stud Chris Young. Look out for the D-Backs? They certainly have a huge depth of position players in their farm system. Not just ok guys who might make it, but total "can't miss" studs like Stephen Drew, and potentially Justin Upton (he just needs to sign). They could be great in a few years.
  8. Pride and Prejudice...the comedy?
  9. I thought 40 year old virgin was the funniest movie I saw in the last few months. I'm gonna have to pick that up.

I wouldn't call Todd Jones washed up. He had one of his better years last year.

At this very moment - only two Marlins are making more than $1M next year, Brian Moehler and Ron Villone. Moehler just signed the deal yesterday, so that will stick, but Villone is gonna be gone. So after D-Train goes through arbitration, he and Moehler will be the only two players making over $1M on the entire team, barring any FA signings. Crazy.

The worst besides the Marlins. We don't need that repeated 100 times.

I think the Marlins had a good rule five as well - picking up Dan Uggla to potentially be the starting 2nd basemen. He had a good year last year in the minors - just needs to cut down on his Ks. 2005 AA Tennessee 498 ABs he hit .297/.378/.502/880 with 21 HR, 87 RBI, 52 BB, 103 K

I'd also like to add that the Marlins payroll for next season is currently $18 million. That's not a typo. Joe Girardi has said they are looking to add some players at 2B and LF and that the payroll should settle around 30 million. Take that for what it's worth.

Al, read your article. A few minor points: I think the prevailing notion is that Hanley Ramirez is going to start at SS. Joe Girardi has already comitted to getting Willingham back behind the plate and is going to give him special lessons this offseason, whatever that means. As for the pitchers, while Vargas and Olsen are not established, they did pitch for the big club last year. Vargas did manage to throw a 1 run, CG effort, so he may respond well this year. Overall - I agree. This is going to kill the franchise. Completely dead. But I also don't think they're going to lose 100 games next year.

The Florida Marlins may have the best minor league pitching roster of all time, at the moment. You figure by process of elimination, some of these guys are not gonna work out but when you have 15 potential MLB stars in your farm system, you have to figure that somewhere along the line you're going to end up with 5 aces. But where's the offense?

I can't believe the Braves would move their #1 prospect for Edgar Renteria.

They're not that stupid. It was taken out of context by Newsday...surprise, surprise. Basically the Marlins wanted Cano and Wang for Pierre and the Yankees countered with Cano and Wang for Willis. The Marlins quickly said no, but apparently that makes them available. I don't know. As for the trade, the only teams that would be able to make a necessary trade would be Dodgers, Angels, D-Backs and that's about it.

Being from Pennsylvania originally - the Phillies might be a logical choice but I've spent so much of my life disliking them - I'm not sure if I could do it.
