Vicente Padilla lighting up the scoreboard tonight... for the Mets.

These are very efficient terrorists. They took down Air Force 1, recovered a nuclear football, and stole a nuclear warhead all within 1 and 1/2 hours.

Fluke start is in he is doing worse than expected, or better? Better. He has the second highest OPS on the Marlins, and a very Un-Encarnacion-like .362 OBP. That's also before tonight when he had a pair of RBI hits. He's been hitting in the 5 spot for the past two games, and actually producing there. It's remarkable.

Hey Al, Encarnacion: Fluke start, or was the injured shoulder excuse not really an excuse? And Dontrelle just gives up a HR to Vidro to end the scoreless streak.

    This Week In Baseball

I've watched both of D-Train's complete games this year and he looks just as good tonight as he did in either of them. He's through only 4 with no runs, but he is on fire.

Game. 2nd straight complete game for AJ. Dontrelle pitches tomorrow against Washington. Guillermo Mota has had exactly 0 save opportunities this year.

AJ Burnett out in the 9th looking for the Marlins 5th CG and his 2nd.

Just happened to catch the end of the Phils/Braves game - thus making it two great games I had the chance to watch today. Wagner was off, as Atlanta nearly hit 2 HRs in the 9th. They ended up with runners on 2nd and 3rd - Brian Jordan hits the game tying single up the middle, but Chase Utley makes a beautiful diving stab to end the game. It was a great play.

It's nice to watch Braden Looper blow a save to the Marlins instead of for the Marlins. Cabrera was obviously safe at the play at the plate, but then Juan Encarnacion drives in the tying run on the very next play - I thought Cabrera being called out would end the game. Just an awful call, but at least Juan tied it.

    Can you Stump the Schwab?

No way. The Schwab knows WAY too much. Whatever obscure fact you can think of... he knows it. I don't buy the show as 100% authentic, and if it is... I feel sorry for him.

Aaron Heilman (?) outdueling Beckett in Shea. Mets up 4-0 in the bottom of the 7th, and Marlins haven't looked good tonight. In fact, they've looked downright awful. They need to pick it up a bit if they don't want to get shut out.

    Scared of snakes?

If you have seen a snake eat, you will see that the mouth opens very wide to be able to swallow its prey. It would equal to us eating a whole basketball! For the snake to be able to do this the bones on the snakes skull are very loosely connected by flexible ligaments. The jaw can be dislocated, separating from the skull to produce an enormous gape, and the two halves of the jawbone can also be spread widely apart at the chin. Usually after the snake has finished eating, you will see it yawn. This is how the snake puts its jawbones back in place. http://www.icon.co.za/~mvdmerwe/anatomy.htm

    Scared of snakes?

Wow. He's not going to have to eat for 3 months. As for photoshop, this is definitely a plausible situation - I just didn't think a snake could eat something that large. It had to have been a baby.

    American Idol Season 4

I think people are misinterpreting Scott's comment. He wasn't talking about having the guts to be up there and sing per se, but more so to sing Hall and Oates' song with them in the house. He was probably deathly nervous. Even though it's only Hall and Oates, wouldn't you be nervous performing a song in front of the original artist? Yes, I like Scott. I realize if he wins it's a travesty, but I hope he makes it to the final 4 at least. I just think he's entertaining in a white trash hilarious kinda way.

Bruiser, Beckett was just average to start last year, but Willis started out with a 0.00 ERA after 3 games, as well as a 1.000 batting average, but then quickly became streaky. The one reason I don't think it will happen this year is the mechanics change. He got wild when he changed his release point all the time, and now they have worked him out of that and he has one consistent delivery. I'm not saying he won't go crazy again, but that is just one reason why he may not. Either way, this is the hottest start for any Marlins pitcher I can remember. Two consecutive CG shutouts to start the season? I'm very impressed.

Don't look now, but Dontrelle has trotted out for the ninth with a shutout. 2 outs now. 1 out away from 2 consecutive complete game shutouts to start the season for Willis.

    MLB needs to build stars

They will if he keeps pitching the way he has been pitching. Baseball has plenty of new stars in waiting, they just need to push them. Pujols is out there, now that he is with Nike. Khalil Greene, Miguel Cabrera, Prior, Wood, Mark Teixeira. I think they will all be big time stars in the next few years. All already are in their home markets (I saw Khalil Greene merch EVERYWHERE when I was in San Diego last week)

The other two in the majors were Pedro Martinez Sunday and Jake Westbrook on the 4th, right? Yes sir, Westbrook's game still counts as a complete game even though he only pitched 8 innings. The team was down1-0 and the opposition didn't get an AB in the 9th.

There have been 5 complete games thrown in the majors this season. The Marlins have 3, as AJ Burnett goes the distance tonight.
